***Official Political Discussion Thread***

I agree Trump has been on an unprecedented level of ******* up but my point goes more towards the parties than the individuals.

Remember these people are each representing a larger entity. It's more than Trump v. Hilary and goes deeper than the current election cycle. What I'm referring to is repeated behavior from both sides of the spectrum and their supporters.

And yes I saw that post and had a great laugh  the disconnect from reality was harshly evident there.

Why can't yall agree both sides **** up? How hard is that?

been said extremists on da right & left got major problems, good luck finding da liberals on here condemning one of their own.

It's not just extremists though. I don't consider Hilary or Trump extremists but they both have made some ****** decisions and ****** up on multiple occasions.

They're human.

When you have blind faith in either side, you're ****** up just like they are

finally.. someone with a common sense.

in regards to Trump, u don't have to have a political science degree to know he's a NYC bred tough 2 dollar steak a-hole personality wise..that type of Bombastic trait isn't something that i shy away from if he's bringing in successful Results, word to George Steinbrenner or Rudy Giuliani.

ill take that over a corrupt liar any day of da week.

now that's my personal preference.

This is the same guy who just yesterday tried to equate men wearing dresses to neo nazis.

u gonna take me outta context Mr. International interloper?

how about start a thread on Italy's Earthquake disaster... instead of extrapolating my comparisons to neo nazis & cross dressers instead of da ACTUAL congruent methods of using children as political props.

Why can't yall agree both sides **** up? How hard is that?

Because it is a false equivalency.

And that way of thinking leads to bad outcomes.

Not IMO. If anything that way of thinking can help influence building a better relationship between two parties/groups by not being hypocritical or thinking your **** don't stink.

Recognizing flaws in something you support can empower you to make it right.

If what we currently have is the "good outcome" then maybe what I'm suggesting - essentially personal responsibility and working together - wouldn't be so bad.

Dude everyone in here as acknowledged problem with the Democrat party. It is straight up not true that we act like the Dems are perfect, we act that they are a better option. How much of a better option they are varies from time to time, or person to person.

No one acts like Hillary Clinton is perfect. Most people in here didn't even vote for her in the primaries.

Dude I disagree on working together to make things right. It is a pipe dream, that hardly ever happens. Even look at some of our best legislation and good stuff had to be taken out to appease conservatives. The New Deal, The Civil Rights Act.

Hell things like Clinton's Crime Bill and Welfare reform became so punitive because the GOP wanted to be tougher on crime. Bill Clinton's presidency was all about compromising with the other side, and look how year after year his legacy looks worst because his policies landed too on the right.

As a liberal I don't want to back that mistake again, Especially when social science is on my side

Even when Dems have the votes, they don't fall in line like Republicans do, see the ACA, see the stimulus.

Talking about it will be great if every just compromised but it doesn't work like that. Economics doesn't work like that, Social Policy doesn't work like that, Foreign Policy doesn't work like that and politics doesn't work like that. There are consequences to public policy, you need to make sure we get it right, or at least go with the better plan.

The GOP has to become a better party, and so do the Dems, but I'm not gonna act like they have the same distance to travel.

Some of what you're saying points to problems within the parties that I'm talking about, but I also agree with some of your points.

I don't mean this thread specifically with what I'm saying as I've seen a big difference in real life liberals vs the ones in this thread.

When I talk about compromise I mean real compromise, not giving in to crybabies just to make them shut up.

I want to get further into this but I gotta go out, maybe we can continue later if we aren't busy. I appreciate your opinions and input.

I definitely 100% agree with that last part by the way

ahh da black retains da championship belt,

at da end of da day, did you really think someone like paul ryan was gonna get anywhere that oval office talking that medicare

should be a voucher program? someone who wanted to limit da choice of women as far as choice? nah.

by now everyone KNOWS i wasn't rocking wit da last 4 years of obama's presidency and let my dissapointment of his job perfomance

ring LOUD and CLEAR, but i knew as bad as i thought he did as far as immigration reform, da bank bailouts, da waffling of da public option in

medicare, da latter would've been worse. i had a long conversation with a couple of nice old ladies at my job today that put things in perspective.

they told me "young man, as bad as obama may have done wrong in your eyes because of immigration reform, do you honestly believe that mitt romney

and paul ryan will give you want you want? we all feel let down in some way, but with this election you're picking da lesser of 2 evils"

went home from work, thought about it real hard and decided "ite....he's wasn't all that all and no one can tell me otherwise, but i can't really think about

him being anything da worse of 2 evils.....and hey he did save GM & Chrysler" . voted for obama & biden on da working families ballot and kept it moving.

Lets take a stroll down memory lane. Last election....

When Ninja decided that even though he was disappointed about Obama's (listing immigration reform and not getting the public option ) he decided to vote for him because he is the lesser of two evils. And him saving GM and Chrysler (remember him arguing the exact opposite months ago)

4 year ago, gave president Obama da benefit of da doubt..im all da way good on voting for a CERTAIN losing administration this cycle

 @ using the word "crunk" in 2016.

Adds some realism that Donald would be that outdated making you think that's real.

Stephen Bannon, the chief executive of Trump’s election campaign, has an active voter registration at the house in Miami-Dade County, Florida, which is vacant and due to be demolished to make way for a new development.

“I have emptied the property,” Luis Guevara, the owner of the house, which is in the Coconut Grove section of the city, said in an interview. “Nobody lives there … we are going to make a construction there.” Neighbors said the property had been abandoned for several months…

Bannon, Clohesy and Trump’s campaign repeatedly declined to answer detailed questions about Bannon’s voting arrangements. Jason Miller, a Trump campaign spokesman, eventually said in an email: “Mr Bannon moved to another location in Florida.” Miller declined to answer further questions.

According to The Guardian, Florida law states that “voters must be legal residents of the state and of the county where they register to vote” and that legal residence is where one “mentally” intends to make their residence. Submitting this false information would be considered a “third-degree felony” according to The Atlantic:

It’s not altogether uncommon for people to have failed to update old registrations, but it’s particularly embarrassing for Bannon, since he is running a presidential campaign, no less one that is warning about widespread fraud. Moreover, the Guardian reports that Bannon may have previously registered at an address in Florida where he did not live. Wilfullly providing false voter-registration information in Florida is a third-degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.

Bannon also lives in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. According to tax records, the D.C. residence “is actually owned by Mostafa El-Gindy, an Egyptian businessman and former member of parliament. Gindy has received favorable coverage from Breitbart News, which styles him as a ‘senior statesman.’”

The Guardian report adds that Bannon never stayed at the property according to the neighbors. After reaching out to the Trump campaign, the paper received a statement noting that Bannon had moved to another residence in Florida but did not get confirmation that the Trump campaign CEO was living there. In a follow-up report, it was shown that Bannon was now registered at the home of a reporter for Breitbart:

Stephen Bannon is now registered to vote at the Florida house of Andy Badolato, who reports for Breitbart News and has worked with Bannon in the past on the production of political films.

According to public records, Badolato, 52, and two of his adult sons are also registered to vote at the property, which he co-owns with his ex-wife.

As The Atlantic reports, it is more an embarrassment to the campaign than the heights of political scandal. The Trump campaign has railed against voter fraud and the corrupt politicians in the past. Coupled with the reports of domestic violence charges, it’s clear that Bannon is under the media microscope. These allegations will likely be far from the last during the final steps of the campaign

watching Tapper interview Pence.

some gems:

1) he talks about hard working Americans working 3 jobs to get by. but i thought illegals were taking all the jobs?

2) after 10 minutes still doesn't answer whether there will be a deportation force.

3) stands by Trump saying that being born in the USA doesn't make you a citizen. ie anchor babies may have their citizenship taken away.

4) Pence says Hillary campaign is getting desperate... because, you know, the polls are only showing her up by double digits.

They lit up Ann Coulter at the Rob Lowe roast. Took that disgusting bigot's head clean off

"Ann Coulter wants to help Trump make America great again. You can start by wearing a burka. You have a face that would make doves cry," said roast veteran Jeff Ross, who was dressed in purple as Prince. "That voice, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard in an inner-city school you wanna defund," he said. "Ann's against gay marriage. What's your thinking on that? If I can't get a husband they shouldn't, either?"

Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson quipped, “If you are here, Ann, who is scaring the crows away from our crops?”

Former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning had a joke about her appearance, too: "I just realized that I'm not the only athlete up here tonight. As you all know, earlier this year Ann Coulter won the Kentucky Derby."

There were also lines about Coulter's political views. "Ann Coulter has written 11 books, 12 if you count Mein Kampf," said comedian Nikki Glaser. "Ann, you're awful. The only person you will ever make happy is the Mexican who digs your grave."

"She seems stiff and conservative, but Ann gets wild in the sheets. Just ask the Klan," said Roast Master David Spade. "It looks like she’s having a good time. I haven’t seen her laugh this hard since Trayvon Martin got shot."

Folk singer Jewel won the crowd over with this: “As a feminist I can’t support everything that’s been said tonight," she said, "but as someone who hates Ann Coulter, I’m delighted.”

But British comedian Jimmy Carr really let Coulter have it. He called her "repugnant," "hateful," and "hatchet-faced." "But it's not too late to change that," he said. "You could kill yourself."

Lowe, who was a bit shaken at the end of the night after having to relive his troubled past in front of his family, didn't think any of the jokes were out of line. He likened the event to a professional sport. "If you’re in the NFL, hit hard. This is the NFL, you’re here to hit. There are other places to do soft jokes … if you’re on the Comedy Central Roast, you better bring your A-game.

Cot damn! Those Peyton Manning and David Spade jokes sting just reading them

Ann Coulter is a horrible person though.

Not surprised at all at Weiner. He probably got one of those problems with the internet like porn addiction except he can't help but send **** pics.

yahoo sent a phone notification (strange) that she is leaving him. dude might just be a nympho and shouldnt be married.

SMH @ the AP with the false math in their reporting about Clinton foundation donors meeting with Hilary while she was SOS... American journalism has become so sullied...

So trump is pivoting on his pivot, then pivoting again? I guess he finally realized the Mexican government wasn't going to pay for the wall & it wasn't economically feasible. I'd also like to see how he was going to round up appx 11 million undocumented immigrants nationwide.

It was always a lie cloaked within a promise. Dude is such a dummy...
