Vice President-elect Mike Pence said Sunday he "wasn't offended" after the cast of the Broadway hit "Hamilton" called for the Indiana governor to uphold the country's values in a personal message after a show.

"I know this is a very disappointing time for people that did not see their candidate win in this national election. I know that this is a very anxious time for some people," Pence said on "Fox News Sunday."

"And I just want to reassure people that what President-elect Donald Trump said on election night he absolutely meant from the bottom of his heart — he is preparing to be the president of all of the people of the United States of America."

The Indiana governor said he's confident the American people will see the president-elect be a president for all of the people.

"We embrace that principle," Pence said.

Pence attended the Broadway hit on Friday night. When he was leaving, one of the actors asked for him to stay to listen to a statement from the cast.

"Vice President-elect Pence, we welcome you and we truly thank you for joining us at 'Hamilton: An American Musical,' " actor Brandon Victor Dixon said onstage.

"We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. We hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us."

After the statement, Trump called for the cast of Hamilton to apologize.

Pence said he'll leave it up to others to determine whether that was the "appropriate venue for that," and then offered praise for the show.

"Hamilton is just an incredible production and incredibly talented people. It was a real joy to be there," Pence said.

Pence noted when he arrived at the show, he heard a few boos and some cheers.

"And I nudged my kids and reminded them, that's what freedom sounds like," Pence said.

There's been talk from the GOP of nuking the Dems filibuster if used on the SC nominee and now it would require less votes than before after the Dems made changes to the rule and vote requirement recently given years of obstructionism from the GOP. It's gonna be revolting when/if that decision comes back to haunt them now in such a damaging way :x :smh:

That makes all the faux outrage from Trump and his supporters even more pathetic ,Pence sounds like he wasn't even fazed at all yet his boss created a hoopla over it

They were taking shots at his boss.

I can see why trump responded.
This is what the cast said:
“Vice President-elect Pence, we welcome you, and we truly thank you for joining us here at ‘Hamilton: An American Musical.’ We really do,” Dixon said to further applause. “We, sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all  of us. All of us. Again, we truly thank you truly for seeing this show, this wonderful American story told by a diverse group of men and women of different colors, creeds and orientations.”
So rude and disrespectful

Pence was boo'd by the crowd, not the cast.

The cast voiced their valid concerns in a respectful manner. In what world does this qualify as rude and terrible behavior?

Seriously though, as POTUS even if it was from the cast, why even give a damn/spend any thought about what goes down at a Broadway show?

Dude has incredibly thin skin, the fact that someone with that kind of temperament is gonna be in charge of the nuclear codes is mindnumbing to think about  :smh:

If his thin skin can't even handle a damn Broadway show cast voicing their concerns in a respectful manner he's in for a rude awakening when he's sworn in.

This is pathetic, really, no matter how you spin it. Step away from the situation and it would still be difficult to see it otherwise.

1000

If more Americans knew some immigrants from 3rd world backwards countries they would be more terrified of how familiar this sounds to them.

@JShahryar:
Bannon hates Jews,
Flynn hates Muslims,
Sessions hates Blacks and Latinos,

Sure looks like a team designed to alleviate economic anxiety.

So ya been badgering me to respond about a video jeff sessions made about Dominicans...and all he did was offer a critique on chain migration (which isn't going anywhere anytime soon) and sham marriages which nothing revealing or shocking

(see sanky panky https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanky_Panky_(film))

some of ya so desperate in da demise at liberalism ya just throwing spaghetti on da wall at this point. :smh:

liberals & their hacks lost November 8th, time for some of ya to have introspection on why democrats have become tone-deaf to da majority needs of da country...and are now a endangered species.

getting out of ya echo chamber would help tremendously.

That cast was petty as hell. I'd have asked for a refund if I was there. I go to the theater to be entertained not have personal political preferences shoved down my throat. No matter what side it comes from.

You do realize that Hamilton is a political theater play
And second, show me where Pence was disrespected other than the audience booing him
And third, Pence wasn't even offended by the cast
And fourth, I'm sure Abraham Lincoln would have been ok with getting booed by the crowd instead of....you know....getting shot by someone

A full refund though?

It's not that big of a deal. I'm not interested in hearing politics when I go to a theater either but if it happens it is what it is.

They can say whatever they want as a final note for all I care. I'm there for the show. It's not like they interrupted the show to do so.
