The two top lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee are joining forces to request an Office of Government Ethics review of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway urging TV viewers to buy Ivanka Trump's merchandise.

A spokesperson for the Oversight Committee's top Democrat, Rep. Elijah Cummings (Md.), confirmed Thursday that Cummings and Chairman Jason Chaffetz  (R-Utah) would jointly send a letter requesting the ethics review.

Chaffetz said Conway's remarks on Fox & Friends" were "clearly over the line" and "unacceptable," according to The Associated Press.

Conway drew criticism Thursday morning after promoting  the first daughter’s clothing-and-accessory line, which Nordstrom has decided to stop stocking, citing a drop in sales.

"Go buy Ivanka's stuff, is what I would tell you," Conway said. "I'm going to give it a free commercial here. Go buy it today.”

Conway's comments drew criticism from some who accused her of violating a prohibition on using a public post for private gain.

Within hours, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a left-leaning watchdog group, filed an ethics complaint  against Conway, calling her remarks “an apparent violation of federal law, ethics regulations and other standards of conduct.”

White House press secretary Sean Spicer issued  a curt response to Conway’s comments on Thursday afternoon, telling reporters at his daily press briefing that she had been “counseled on the subject.”

"Kellyanne has been counseled, and that's all we are going to go with," Spicer said. "She's been counseled on the subject, and that's it."

Spicer did not add any additional information about who spoke to Conway or about the nature of that conversation, moving on to another reporter's question.

Chris Lu, former deputy secretary of Labor under President Obama, tweeted  a screenshot of the federal ethics law he believes Conway broke with her comments.

Bannon has not yet killed any journalists (that we know of) but is trying to silence and demonize the media. He has not used the military against its own people (yet) but is asking government officials to carry out actions that go against the Constitution. He has not conducted mass executions of a religious group, although he is trying to influence demographics through other means.

That infographic is incomplete though. While Bannon has not declared a caliphate, he has declared that the USA is a Christian country and has espoused anti-Semitic views.

So I agree with you, ninja. The infographic is dumb not to recognize the genius that is Bannon.

Isn't it kind of petty for a national media outlet to debate against every editorial published?

But go ahead, they can do it. We have free press in this country.

I mean, the president himself gets butthurt over every poll, post, story, article, or sideways glance and will be triggered into a twitter rant. So why should we hold fox news to a higher standard?

California Farmers Backed Trump, but Now Fear Losing Field Workers

I do need to clarify, it was mostly Central Valley farmers who backed Trump. Those of us who are involved in farming in the coastal and near coastal areas, knew who works for us.

Central Valley farmers, can sometimes be a special species of stupid. Even the cotton planters of old didn't vote to deport their slaves.

Both are dumb though ,Bannon is more dangerous since he wields actual big time power and influence

neither are "dumb"

Comparing him to Bagdhadi? It is

Bannon is in another league

da equivalence from da jump was stupid. this is why editorials are just that.

guess even columnists got tired of da played out da Hitler references

They hopefully realized that all the people who can't already see the fascist parallels are the ones who will be complicit or not care until it's too late for them.

His fanbase genuinely does not care for anyone but themselves. It's what will **** them all over in the end.

Apparently Russia got bombers near UK airspace and Brussels has their entire electricity cut off. Something is going on in Europe.

Regarding the bombers,Putin's probably feeling emboldened as hell ever since his comrade took office .

I did read that the whole Russia testing the Western countries defenses dates back decades and used to be a weekly occurrence during the cold war and has happened every now and then in recent years
