da only other option GOP had was to load their bill with everything they wanted, pass it in da house, and let da democrats kill it in da senate, then blame them for it, a quicker death, but reeks of politial gamesmanship.
Letting Obamacare die on its own da way Democrats designed it was always da best option IMO, your basically demonstrating their failure play out live and unobstructed, with no GOP fingerprints.

Obama was killed for saying "you can keep your doctor", however the Republicans would be in "great shape" if they do nothing and watch Obamacare fail, while they campaigned on "repeal and replace" Obamacare for 8 years. Seems like a reach, but we'll see. I won't under estimate the stupidity of the voters.

da economy was da number 1 issue for da general electorate.
healthcare is gonna be revisited.. Obamacare as it stands isn't long for da world...but most likely it'll take a back seat to tax reform and infrastructure now.

The ACA problems are mostly caused by the Republicans attacking it. The CBO has even said it is stable
The price hikes last year where caused mainly by the risk corridor being unfunded
And Hillary won with people that rated the economy as the most important issue for them.

Trump failed on one of his major promises and when the CBO scores the tax cuts, the national debt exploding nature of them will be front and center.
