Interesting. I thought all this time if you had the ability to use the force, you were a jedi or sith.  Had no clue it was a honorary type of title.

So another question is are there tons of people in the SW Universe that have the power of the force but aren't labeled as a Jedi or Sith? I know the Jedi Council was destroyed by Anakin...But are there side stories of other Jedi/Sith issues in other galaxies?

There's only two siths at a time, and they're usually the main focus of any Star Wars story but as far as Jedi, you could look up Quinlan Vos stories. He's a Jedi who pretty much does his own thing.

That two sith thing can be scrapped with ease tho. And hopefully will.

I'd also like to see what they could do with Dark Jedi, I think that would be a good route to follow as well as regular Sith and Jedi.

Dark Jedi, fallen Jedi, Grey Jedi

There's a lot they could do if they dip into the expanded Universe

It can, but I was just keeping it simple to answer his question. For a bunch of guys trying to have all the power, I don't see how that rule of 2 thing is maintained.

And yeah, Dark Jedi would be a good route. Good/Evil with the force has been pretty black and white so far, it'd be nice if they try to blur the lines. I think they could've gone more into Dooku's story. The guy's master was Yoda and his padawan was Qui-Gon. He could've way more pivotal during the prequels.

All I know is I'm rollin' up in the theater in December with this Kylo Ren helmet and hoody

Agreed.

And it "sounds" like that's what they're doin, blurring some lines with this whole not a Sith stuff for Kylo. But worshiping Vader, etc. That's good stuff.

So if they expand on that, and get some Dark Jedi or Fallen, or more than 2 Sith, etc, we might get into some real great stuff.

One way to move passed the Rule of Two would be a pre Republic era film, like 500 years prior and feature the Jedi/Sith war (that led to the Rule of Two eventually) ****, call the movie the Rule of Two for all I care.

Man I'd lose my **** to see a jedi/sith war

I'd be down if they just did the first Bane book as a movie

EDIT: now that I think of it that would be the rule of two lol

Man...There is so much info with this universe. I think I'm already overwhelming myself asking questions from watching the first trilogy

If they want to avoid the whole EU thing, they can change names, timeframes, whatever, but just get to the gist of it all. Army of Sith, army of Jedi, and from that, the Rule of Two.

Do that, and tears will be shed.

I know people hate on the EU being wiped out, but I like the fact that they will take elements from them going forward. Hopefully, it's the better ideas but they really need my boy Dash Rendar in there somewhere. You can't wipe that guy out of Star Wars lore.

Yeah, but 75% of it has been nullified, so you're really not all that far behind anymore.
Is there a site that details what was and is canon to the storyline? I know @zoomin6
mentioned it to me before, but I lost the link.:nerd:

The only things that are canon are the live action movies, Clone Wars, Rebels, the current Marvel comic books and I believe a novel or two are out/coming out. That's pretty much it.

This may help too

Interesting concept for the Rule of Two...But would be cool to see a bunch of "bad" jedi's.

Brotherhood of Darkness sounded like a cool idea lol

So even if you have the ability to control the force, you can't be labeled a "Jedi" or "Sith" until you are annointed as one? So what would you be labeled as then?

Sorry for the noob questions.
Pretty much. There are force users that aren't necessarily Jedi or Sith, for example the Witches of Dathomir (getting into super SW nerd territory there)

Sidious was responsible for destroying the Jedi, not Anakin.

Below could be potential spoilers (Most of this stuff could be BS but whatever)   If you don't want to know, skip this post...
What has undoubtedly been one of the biggest questions in the minds of fans of Star Wars is the one regarding how long Luke Skywalker will appear in the movie, and what his role in the story could be. Recently, I’ve come across some information from sources I trust that have really made me think about the character’s role in the movie; below is my argument/educated guess as to when and where we’ll see Luke in The Force Awakens

Outright spoilers and potential spoilers ahead!

For starters, a key reason why this rumor has been heavily criticized
is that, from a narrative standpoint, Luke seems to be a living MacGuffin. Much of the plot – as far as we know – revolves around his lightsaber and figuring out where he is. So the idea of ending the movie right when they find him seems hugely anti-climactic. It would be akin to ending A New Hope as soon as they hand the Death Star plans to the Rebel Alliance, skipping over what we see the Rebels do with the knowledge that they’ve stolen from the Empire (namely, how to blow up the Death Star) and instead save it for a follow-up. To me, this development doesn’t have a pay-off and instead screams “See you in a year and a half for Episode VIII!” like a post-credits scene would. This does not seem like the kind of thing that J. J. Abrams would want to do as a filmmaker.

Therefore, the question we should ask ourselves now appears to be “When does Luke show up in the new movie, and for how long will he appear?”

I can now say, with confidence, that there is a flashback sequence in the movie, and that you will see a younger version of Luke in it. I have confirmation that the flashback sequence is one that spans multiple years, featuring a sequence that I can definitely say takes place on Bespin; I also believe – but cannot confirm – that the sequence later extends to a scene that takes place on the desert planet seen in the second teaser, based on MSW’s outline (more details on the flashback sequence can be heard tomorrow in our second podcast). From what I have gathered, two major focuses of flashback are Luke Skywalker and his first lightsaber – the one Anakin used. I believe that the flashback sequence described on MSW
is framed by Maz Kanata using the power of psychometry
on the lightsaber. This sequence exists so that the characters and the audience learn more about its user and his whereabouts, along with a quick history lesson about where the weapon has been in the thirty-plus years that have passed between The Empire Strikes Back and The Force Awakens.

This last section covers the climax of the film and Luke’s possible appearance in it. If you do not want to be spoiled, stop here.

Luke apparently appears in the last part of the movie, intervening in the final duel between Finn, Rey, and Kylo Ren just as it seems that all hope is lost. Luke apparently fights as if he is spiritually possessed by the Force itself – and while he is powerful, his abilities aren’t described as being insanely overpowered. (Nothing along the lines of being able to use the Force to rip a Star Destroyer out of orbit, but still impressive.) He is ultimately able to repel Kylo Ren. This source has also told me that Luke is seen in at least four different night shots in the movie; while some of these shots might be from the flashback battle, I believe that at least some of them come from the climax of the film. I have heard very similar stories from two other sources. These statements paint the picture that the “search for Luke”, “destroy the superweapon”, and “save Rey” storylines converge at the snow planet where the First Order is stationed, which sounds like the classic set-up for a climax.

This sounds off because:

most rumors and spoilers have kylo ren killing han solo at that point in the movie. So why would luke all of a sudden let his dear friend han get killed and then battle kylo AFTER? Also the luke at the end thing sounds more plausible since it sets up the next movie and training of rey. The guy says it doesnt sound like something jj would do but it is afterall about the money first for disney. You dont buy the property to not make the most profit. The ending sets us up for the next movie and leaves us wanting more. Sadly i have a feeling luke will die in either episode viii or ix. This is my biggest pet peeve of them making new star wars. My childhood movie heroes getting killed off one by one in each movie.

Never read the expanded universe but i have heard and loved how the main 3 were never killed off. And even if i never read the expanded universe the ending of rotj had that storybook ending and everyone lived happily ever after.

Also

there have been rumors about the flashbacks since the begining and hopefully it tells us why luke has been hiding out like obi wan. Looking at how they did michael douglas in ant man im sure they can make luke look younger for the flash backs with the tech
