I assume it would be one and done. They got plenty other anthology movies they can do.

Granted they could make up more stories but I'm not sure they'll be trying to fit stuff in between ESB and ROTJ even with a few years in between each. I still think that period should be left alone especially when the comics and new books are canon and filling in w/e gaps. The beginning of ANH left the door open for an untold story. Everything else is solely focused on Luke, Han, and Leia.

Another 2 movies would have to just be focusing more on the war aspect. They can't really have any huge victories. Cuz then its like why we ain't hear about that then?

But if the movie shocks Disney and does a billi I'm sure they'll find a way for sequels.

That's what I'm wondering. empire showed the alliance on the ropes running. ROTJ had then winning but again that involves LUke and them.

Maybe fill in the gap between 6 and 7 and what the hell exactly happened that the empire just rebranded and then rebellion became a resistance

Why some of these rumors sound just as bad as the prequel stuff?

I mean with all these ppl who dedicated time to telling how the PT should've been done and what was wrong with it you'd think ppl could come up with better fan fiction theories.

We already saw what led to the demise of the Jedi Order and what caused the Clone Wars specifically. It wasn't some hidden secret origin of the Sith and Jedi.

People complain in hindsight all the time, but there's a reason they aren't screen writers.

Though the prequels sucked, Abrams is not gonna just ignore them and rewrite the past.

Funny thing about that rumor is that they have been hinting at "force trees" in the new canon. But the other details, yea, not so sure about that...
Yeah, just sounds like a creative mashup of hunches/speculation based on stuff like the Damerons' force tree, Frank Oz going to the Episode 8 set in April, etc etc. I hope it's not true, but you never know- sometimes a scene in a movie works a lot better (or worse!) than how it sounds if you try to describe it.

I'm guessing, but I think there is an easy way to manage it.

Say 1-2 survivors escape Vader's wrath, you could simply give a throwaway line like "let's head for Alderaan" which we all know is blown to bits early in the next movie. So you leave sadly assuming they perish in that explosion.

Then, if money dictates some sort of sequel, or even a connection of films (anthologies) you could always have them show up later and explain it away, they ran into trouble before getting to Alderaan, etc. They could appear in the Han films, or the Fett films, or some other films that take place later on (as older characters)

I don't personally think they would sign up all these solid actors for just the one and done method. I gotta believe there's more to their stories, but they'll let it play out thru the audience before making any final decisions.

At least for the main, main characters. Certainly a lot are going to die under a red blade, but like Felicity Jones should manage a way to appear later, if they want to go that route.

Again, that's just me guessing, maybe they'll just murder everybody and then show Tantive IV and we know where that picks up in ANH.

Diego Luna is playing Captain Cassian Andor, who is described as "a by-the-book Rebel intelligence officer, brought in to steady the volatile Erso." Many assumed Donnie Yen's character was a Jedi, but as it turns out Chirrut Imwe is more of a warrior monk who is "devoted to their ways." Jiang Wen plays Chirrut's devoted friend and protector Baze Malbus, and Riz Ahmed is the squad's hot-headed lead pilot, Bodhi Rook. The final team member is Alan Tudylk's tough-as-nails droid character, K-2SO, who is described as “the antithesis of C-3PO.”

As we already knew, Mads Mikkelsen is Jyn's estranged father, Galen Erso, who is in possession of "doomsday knowledge that is sought by both the Empire and the Rebellion." The villain of the piece is Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn), who is determined to enter the Emperor's good graces while avoiding the wrath of Darth Vader.

Finally, we have the mysterious character that'll be played by Forest Whitaker. EW describes him as someone "Star Wars completists will recognize immediately when they see his name, even if he looks very different than the way they've seen him elsewhere."
