IS KOBE BRYANT...OVERRATED?

Kobe Bryant was guarded by JJ Barea when he was swept as much as Isiah or Mugsy ever guarded Jordan

Kobe was not guarded by 5'5 JJ barea for any more than a couple possessions. You know it. Marion and Stevenson and Jkidd guard him the majority of time.

Mousgy Bouges tried to guard MJ for a whole quarter lol.

If Mousgy Bouges tried to guard Kobe for entire quarter Kobe would score like 20 on him in one quarter

For real what type of junk is this?

View media item 351539

Repped lol

I forgot about Danny Ainge. Dude were skating too in that 63 point game

Unlike MJ. Kobe actually were guarded by 6'7 and 6'8 defenders with long wingspan in his 81 points game.

Not trying to knock Jordan and his scoring ability but MJ had luxury of playing against slower, smaller and defender with poor lateral footwork majority of time during the 80s and mid 90s.

Stark, Hornecek, Russel, Stockton, Hershey, Dumar etc.

LOL that Mousgy bouges picture is gold lol.

Oh and don't forgot Kendall Gills. Although he is 6'6, dude have cinder block for feet lol.

Lol i'm saying man! Bryant stays having a smaller guy on him (Kidd, barbosa, monte, jj, cp, etc etc) yall killing me now with this reaching!

It really wouldn't even matter because bryant plays with such a low iq so many times that if mugsy was guarding him he would probably still take stupid 35 ft fallaway J's instead of doing what Mike did and drive to the cup n play efficient. Ole ball hogging diva!

Dude the majority of those guys you listed are 6'3 or 6'4 and Kobe smashes smaller guards anyways

He wasnt getting done up like this in the Finals of all places

What do those lame pictures have to do with anything? Ya'll act like we can't pull pics of any other player with highlight dunks.

And the people trying to clown on mj for getting guarded by smaller guards act like kobe has been defended by bruce bowen his whole career

I don't see any other photos of highlight dunks in this thread, so there must not be many pics like that for other players

I'm not even going to go back n forth with abc, smh dude is either in strong denial or at most 20yrs old (which implies you don't know any better because u apparently grew up on bryant whereas i grew up on Mike). as if Mike was not banging on centers all the time...I can't man.

Then the comprehension thing. Bro anything under six foot four is "smaller" compared to six foot seven. Andre miller consistently guards bryant just like all the other guys I listed and more which equates to "smaller".

My dude posted a pic of bryant bangin on Yao in some J's! Lol, the irony

A lot of bias being thrown around.

It's absurd to say that both Kobe or Jordan weren't guarded by the oppositions best perimeter defender, period.

So Kobe is 6'7 when that would make him an inch taller than Jordan but look at these photos

Jordan is listed at 6'6 but he's a full inch taller than Kobe in the photos

Yeah Kobe and Andre Miller guard each other . Miller is a good defender but still Kobe consistently mashes him

Also Kobe has a 2 to 1 advantage in victories over Andre Millers teams.

Oh really?

So what if Kobe wore Js while banging on Yao? The point is Kobe is not afraid to take it to the rim and dunk on big centers. Kobe dunks are legit poster. Not some wack dunks like Lebron on some mini me point guards.

I don't see MJ banging on any 7'5 center. Kobe also dropped 41 on MJ team by half time while wearing J too lol. You probably didn't like that lol.

Andre Miller never guarded Kobe for entire game. He would get smashed. It would be suicidal. Try again rookie.

Guys, its getting counterproductive in here. No need to elaborate on dunks, height, smaller defenders, come on.

Move the focus onto other aspects.

Jordan is the standard. You always want to match up to the best. Kobe surpassed Drexler, Ray Allen, Jerry West, Wade etc. So you only have one guy he can't match up too. And that's where it starts.

The second part is stupidity.

MJ>>>>>>>>>>>>Kobe>>>rest of SG's. People need to start comprehending this.

Lol im going to leave this for the dude imjussayin who said Kobe is scare to take to the rim and only take 35 foot jumpers.

Haha dude that's the reason why this thread exists and is 120 pages, people jumping to conclusions/making bizarre claims

In Kobe Bryant's 17 years in the league he has played with another member of the all NBA team 12 times.

If you add up the times Tim Duncan, Hakeem Ojauwon and Dirk Nowitzki has played with another member of the all NBA team it comes to 8. Combined.

Kobe Bryant has had the most success of this generation because he has played with the most talent of this generation.

The times he didn't were his biggest failures.

Edit-

There is a decent chance Dwight Howard makes the team this year so it will actually be 13.

are there really no other centers in the nba today to the point that dwight howard will make the all nba team? nothing to do with all this kobe talk but it has actually been painful to watch him this year, hes the first ever lakers player that i actually hate.

but if we are looking at things that way, lets use this year for example. lakers without kobe vs spurs without timmy, who wins? of course success is created the amount of talent on a team. the year you guys beat us and went on to win it all, sure dirk played great but your role players shot 97% from three in the sweep. basketball is a team sport and it jsut shows how great of an organization the lakers are to always talent around kobe.

curious about that 12 year stat though, from what i can remember that would be 80% just shaq right?

Bynum and Pau probably have a couple 3rd team All NBA, and the rest would be Shaq. Shaq gotta be 7-8 of those.

Whats your point?

Magic played 8 seasons with another all NBA member and they didn't have a 3rd team back then or he would've had more seasons with another all NBA member

Russell played all 13 seasons with another all NBA team remember

Shaq played 14 seasons with another all NBA member

Kobe played with Shaq and Shaq got to play with Kobe, its what happens with have a dynamic duo

But yet Kobe has less seasons with another all NBA member than Shaq but has more rings....hmmm

Try again

Yeah its pretty much all Shaq. Pau made a couple of 3rd teams and Bynum made the team last year but see where he is without Kobe now.

To add to the above, It's not like Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili were/are scrubs. They may not have been all-nba, but they're all-stars in their own right.
