The death penalty should be mandatory for proven murderers nationwide

I read that the cost of each prisoner is $40,000 per year. It varies by state, age, and other factors. Imagine what that money could do to help educational and economic development projects in Chicago alone. Ofcourse every murderer won't be caught, but think about how much money the state would have to spend elsewhere if they weren't housing individuals that killed others. We had over 500 murders in our city last year. Just say the police, without a doubt, caught and charged 60% of them. That's 300 murderers. If they were given the death sentence, after absolute proof of guilt, the state saves $12,000,000 per year.

This post was also inspired by the 9 yo thrown off the roof. He named person that attempted to kill him. This 17yo animal has already shown he is capable of killing someone. Get him out of here for good.

I feel this was never having any of my family murdered. A couple of my basketball players were victims of shootings. I feel this way having two cousins that killed people in cold blood and now sit in prison sucking up taxpayer dollars and having the ability to communicate with loved ones while their victims can't

What say you??

U cant absolutely prove anything.......like ur example what if the kid thrown off the roof was just delirious and said the wrong name?

CPD's clearance rate on homicides is less than one in three... also being "cleared" means that someone was charged with the murder, not that they were convicted...

As to your overall point, I disagree with capital punishment off GP...

I think it's simple,we,as a nation and as a people need to start practicing what we preach. We say taking someone's life is wrong but some argue that it's ok for a jury, judge and state to sentce someone to death, basically taking someone's life is ok?.

I'm not for nor am I against it,I'm just simply confused how our society is so twisted that we can try to set certain standard's to live by but turn around and do the total opposite and argue why it's the right thing to do.

This isn't a political,religious,moral debate.

You know how many people are employed because of these murderers serving life sentences? The prison industrial complex in this country is huge. All of the stats on much it costs to house feed etc an inmate for X number of years in all BS because it employs so many people.

I'm just tired of all the murder going on. Not just in my hometown but everywhere. People are acting with no conscience.

I don't know about other towns, but I see CPD officers BSn too much at all hours of the day. There are some "real" cops out there but a lot of guys are just taking a paycheck. They need to solve these crimes instead throwing them in a pile.

The communities have to speak up and out against the slime of the area. The "no snitching" **** has to stop.

I agree there is a time to kill, as in the case of the father dealing with a rapist. In the end its just a rant because nothing I do will change tthe way states do business.

But I'm also disgusted with the thought that a murderer can talk with their loved ones, pal around in jail and see a release date happen while the victim is in the ground.

An eye for an eye.

You kill somebody... We Catch you... We kill you...

There NO damn reason for a senseless murder. You only get 1 life to live and for someone to take that life from you, they deserve their living privileges to be revoked as well.

"Don't kill... or else we will kill you."

If someone killed someone I loved I would want them to live with the guilt and feel the pain of being locked up. When you put someone to death, you are letting them off the hook. Why put them out of their misery?

Most killers in prison don't give a rat's *** about "guilt"

both sides of the spectrum would be up in arms.

the for-profit, private prison industry that spurs the prison industrial complex wouldn't support it because it would mess with funding and the other side would say the current state of the death penalty is inhumane enough, so it should be abolished.

Did u by any chance happen to look up the cost to execute some one? Oh, aight.

Not to mention, the judicial system is flawed so a permanent sentence is foolish. What happens when the person is wrongfully convicted and already executed? Just throw out a "my bad" and move on huh?

Completely disagree. You would basically motivate every murderer out there to kill more people because there's no additional punishment.

Also, what about revenge murders. You rape my wife, I kill you. Does that person really deserve the death penatly as well?

Just too complicated an issue to just give all murderers the death penalty.

That's bad economics though, you can't justify the prison industrial complex because it employs a lot of people.
