The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Controller keeps copy of user profile

There's very cool things that can be done with the profile storage in the controller. I hope this is fully fleshed out and described at E3. The controller has the ability to interface with other devices. I'm not sure if this will be in the final launch product but it's really cool.

I've heard the same thing. Sucks I'm not "in the industry" like I used to be. I want to go to E3!!! :frown:

Sony: DualShock 4 light bar can change your mood when gaming in the dark

Everyone is focused so much on the DualShock 4′s light bar being used simply as a built-in Move controller working in tandem with the new camera peripheral for PS4. Scott Rohde, Senior VP Sony World Wide Studios, jumped onto the PlayStation Blog this past week and talked about a new way that games might use the light bar and a dark room to influence the player’s mood while gaming.

Playing games in the dark versus a well lit room depends heavily on the game being played. With Move and Kinect gaming, well lit areas are ideal for the cameras. What playing in the dark does for other games is allow it to immerse the player into the game by blacking out the real world around the tv. Who would have thought that the light bar on the new DualShock 4 could be used to color that dark space in front of the player to influence things like their mood while gaming. Rohde paints this picture pretty well:

A lot of gamers, myself included, like to play in some dimly lit rooms. And when you’re playing a game and the whole area around you changes color slightly based on what that light bar is doing, it’s not something you’re staring at and your expecting, but it changes your mood and it changes the way you feel when, whatever it is, when you fire a button, when you step into an area where you are in a cold blue area – think about Journey. You’re in a cold blue area, and then you move into more of an orangey earth tone – a warm area. And that controller is coming with you.

I help but imagine a character like Nathan Drake traversing an underwater level while the controller is illuminating the space in front of me with a fluctuating blue ambient light effect. Then coming out of the water and engaging in all sorts of explosions and gun play while the light bar flashes and pops all sorts of reds and oranges, effectively surrounding me in the warm light of the in-game explosions.

All I can think of is NFC. I wonder what else they have planned.

Sony: A headset will ship with every PS4
er_photo_185362_52.jpg

We also got confirmation that a headset will ship in the box with every PlayStation 4.

"Everybody has asked about it, it definitely helps out with voice chat, multiplayer games and everything so we decided to go ahead and do that," Norden remarked. "It's got 32KHz stereo output for two players... frequency will only be reduced slightly when you start cranking up the number of players just because of the bandwidth of the wireless. And there's a 16KHz microphone port as well. The speaker is the same high-quality output as the headset. It streams directly from the PS4 at runtime."
It looks like Sony is doing EVERYTHING possible to make the PS4 ****** nice for us :nthat:

all they need is a good price point

Is the headset bundled new news?
Cause I remember Sony saying something came bundled in the box, don't remember if it was a headset or a camera.

Scary... probably more realistic than Sony's old man tech for the PS4. I wonder if we will see this in the next COD...

[Rumor!] Batman: Arkham Origins to be revealed at this year's E3

While I have no doubt that Rocksteady is hard at work on another game, if rumors are to be believed, we’ll be seeing Batman in a rather nostalgic light.

According to French gaming site Gameblog.fr, their sources have told them that Rocksteady is working on a Batman: Arkham game that will be revealed at this year’s E3. It will allegedly be called “Batman: Arkham Origins,” and the story will apparently take place around the ’50s or ’60s, and will even feature other members of the Justice League.

Not only that, but the rumors also state that it’s scheduled for a PS4 and Xbox 720 release, but there is a chance that it will come to current-gen platforms, too.

Keep in mind that this is still very much a rumor. But if true, then this would add more ground to murmurs that Rocksteady’s next game will involve the Justice League in some capacity.

We’ve reached out to Warner Bros. Interactive for a comment and we’ll give an update once we hear back from them.

So, would a Batman game set during the ’50s or ’60s be your cup of tea? Let’s hope it’s more Batman: The Animated Series than Adam West, no?

PCMag: Sony Planning Big PS4 Reveal Before E3

Expect a big announcement from Sony about its next-gen PlayStation 4 console this month or possibly in early May, a source familiar with the company's marketing strategy told PCMag this week.

This is good news because I wasn't trying to wait for E3...

It seems Sony really learned from the experience with the PS3. :pimp: :pimp: :pimp:
