The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

There was a yellow bar next to the game on the PS3 XMB. The same yellow bar you would get if you downloaded a timed trial demo. Ill check again when I get home, I redownloaded to make sure that I didnt accidentally download the demo for the game.
My download has the same yellow bar. I downloaded the timed trial awhile ago but never got around to playing it and deleted it, so I don't know if that's why the yellow bar is there for me or if that's just how it is. But anyway, I'm not gonna worry about it unless the game suddenly stops on me one day.

I did the same, never played my timed trial and deleted once I bought it from BB (returned it once it was announced that it would hit PS+ store for free). Im sure ill play and beat it before August anyway,.

I think that's why it shows that expiration date

Play the game for more than 1 hour and see if something happens..if you get a message saying that your timed trial is up, then go back to psn store and add it to cart. And check out. You probably have access to the demo and not the full game yet.

I hope we get Knack for PS+ soon, I really want to try it out but I refuse to spend more than $20 on it.
Bought it at launched, then traded it in to best buy for $40 credit after i was through with it. Basically net cost of $20.

Actually spent lil less than $60 on it since i used that 30% off target deal.

Wish I would've done this, at the time I didnt know BB was giving $40 back for games until I traded in Madden and 2K. Too late now, they barely giving $25

Man I had no clue either. I was browsing online to see who had best trade in value, checked amazon and gamestop figuring they would have best deal, checked best buy last and was shocked when I found out it that it would get me $40 even if it was still pretty new release.

Right now, they have different colors and then one that is Wifi only and another one with 3G/Wifi.

I believe that is it really for now until the new one surfaces.

I seen something online saying vita 2000 model.. Would it be wise to buy a vita now? Or is another one dropping soon?

Not sure how Sony sold over 9.7 million games in 6 weeks, the launch lineup was a ****** disaster :x

I think the Launch was good. Have you seen the PS2 and PS3 launch games
I'm not trying to make a direct comparison to prior launches, I'm talking about just these titles specifically. This launch could of been better if announced games made their street date, instead they got pushed back.

We got titles that are released every fall, the top three third party games released for next gen come out every fall.

I don't know why people keep saying this.  A disaster?!  I mean, I'd be willing to bet that launch games for any system have never been this good.

I think people confuse lack of console specifc exclusives or generation specific exclusives with a lack of games period.

I mean, what generation has ever had as good games on launch as Assassin's Creed IV, NBA 2K14, BF4, COD: Ghosts, KillZone Shadowfall, Resogun?
I just don't see it, if this is 'as good as it's gets' for launch, than my points stands.

Some of these games are mediocre, and while the attach rate is sitting at slightly above 2.2, that's also because most of us took part in the B2GOF deal that was all over the web like Amazon, and in stores like Toy R Us and Target. You pretty much choose from the 5 games above, that you pointed out. We're all still playing at least two of them, I personally bought three: Ghost, Battlefield 4 and 2K14.

Yes, the lack of console specific exclusives hurt, that's what pushes consoles over another, it's also what sells console too. Shadow Fall is NOT that, neither is Knack and while Resogun is awesome, it's not a console seller. I believe in quality over quantity, but when your quantity is small, and your quality is average, that's a poor launch. This launch needed some more diversity, obviously developers weren't ready.

Something else, although these games were not consoles launchers, they were better than there console launched counter parts

Killzone 2 > Killzone: Shadow Fall
Assassin's Creed II > III > IV
Call of Duty 4 > Call of Duty: Ghost

The only games that is better NOW than it's past predecessors is NBA2K14 and Battlefield 4. I give Battlefield 4 a slight edge of Battlefield 3 but with the debacle that Battlefield 4 has caused, you couldn't outthink for a moment how good Battlefield 3 was.

All of this is my opinion though.

So then there is basically no difference? Besides the colors and 3G/wifi thing like wrightone said? I thought they made the vita slimmer or had a new one coming out?

I'm asking because I'm thinking about going out and buying one but don't want to buy a new one in the store and then a updated model drops

Huge difference in the screen, the OLED is much better on the OG. The battery life on the new one is better.

Yup the colors (black and white) and the models are the only difference the Vita has in the US.
The model 2000 is a bit slimmer but not a big deal. If i had the chance to choose between the two, i would pick the older version just for the OLED screen.

Thanks for the help guys!

Guess I will buy a vita off Craigslist instead of buying a brand new one since there seems to be no big difference

OG one has a better design IMO and off course the OLED screen but the new one is slimmer, lighter, has better battery life, the start and select buttons are much easier to press, the buttons are supposedly better and more responsive, it can use any micro USB charger to charge and the touch pad on the back has been shrunk down so there are less accidental touches.

Local gamestop got a couple of PS4's in, as bad as I want to pull the trigger I think I'm just going to wait until I upgrade my TV (1st gen 42" sony plasma) to really take advantage of all the features.

For those that wanted a better launch lineup, the only two solutions would be to release the console a year later, or to rush out games that will end up sucking or being half finished. We could have Infamous, MGS, Watchdogs, Destiny, and whatever other as launch titles, if they decided to release a year later. But who really wants that as a consumer? Obviously it would make no sense for Sony, no reason to play catchup again.

Majority of people got the game they would of got on ps3 anyways, fifa cod bf ac, if there had been no new consoles. Killzone and Knack at least were full games, Resogun was a pleasant surprise. I know its a console launch that doesn't happen that often, but launch titles aren't that serious, unless you only want the console for 3 months.

^ agree. Launch lineup was good to very good. People just like to complain about it because they either are regurgitating what they heard others say or have no perspective on the history of console launches.

You aren't going to get console-specific, generation-specific AAA games on launch on a console where a manufacturer is transitioning from one console to the next, because it's bad business. The install base is small in the first year, so even if u released a masterpiece, you won't do numbers. They have to wait for more consumers to make the switch before putting out the Halo's and Uncharteds of this gen.

This console launch had two triple A titles in ghosts and AC4, the premier basketball sim that was given the true next gen treatment, kill zone which is good, a fantastic twin stick arcade shooter, and some throw away titles like Knack.

That's not terrible. That's not ok. That's a good launch.

Is a 16gb memory stick good for the vita? About how many games can I put on that?
4-8 vita games. PS1/PSN games will be smaller.

Obviously depends on size of each specific game, but for 2 free games from PS+ that are pretty good, uncharted is about 3GBs, Gravity Rush is 1.4GB.
