Can someone give me a breakdown of the battle mechanics? Another game they feel like?

No plans to remaster 13. And XV will certainly not be out in America next year. KH is at least 2 years away.

So maybe to just dig your brain a little since you work in the industry.

Is it that much more difficult to produce and develop a game today compared to the PS1 days where it takes 3-4 years, sorry meant 9-10  , it seems for a Square to make a new FF or is it just them being tighter on the resources and thus slowing down production?

I understand things are more complex, but I want to know if that bar is that high now where we seem to see less games from some of these developers minus the franchises that just rehash the same engine (COD, Assassins Creed, etc.).

Thanks.

Yes, It's incredibly more time consuming and difficult to coordinate and produce than it was in the PS1/PS2 days. The larger issue for SE is that they have a very large emphasis on their proprietary tech. And anyone in this industry will tell you it's ridiculously difficult to design a game and an engine in tandem. SE has been doing that for the past 10 years and it's really stunted their development on everything because they're unwilling to finalize their engine and just move on.

It's a nice concept to think about."It" being an organic engine. However, if you're not shipping any product around that engine you have no true idea where optimizations should occur for the next iterations. That leads to a ton of roadblocks when you continually keep changing mechanics and want to push for more and more tools and higher and higher poly counts.

I mean, **** even when they did "settle" with Crystal tools for the FF13 series did it look like they did much optimization after 13? IMO 13 looks better than 13-2 and is heads and shoulders above 13-3. There's a reason for that which I really can't discuss but it feeds into the whole "let's keep pumping out tech and assets and eventually the games will start working out!"

. My 5 year old nephew tripped over the controller charging cord while the other one was playing and dropped the system on straight hardwood. The glossy part of the system came off, but it still continues to work.  Crazy part is immediately after it fell, madden still loaded and everything working fine now. Still kinda paranoid that it might be scratching the game discs. Same nephew who broke the Wii U I got them for Christmas last year. Safe to say those little rascals aren't getting no good christmas gifts this year

Square Enix: Other Final Fantasy Titles Could Come to PS4 (Update)
View media item 1309408
Update:

Square Enix sent over a fully translated version of Hashimoto’s response about wanting more Final Fantasy games on PlayStation 4, clearing up anything that may have been lost in translation:

In reality, I would like to create an environment where other past Final Fantasy titles beyond X/X-2 become playable on the PS4. Our current Final Fantasy properties are for the PS3 and earlier, but globally, the shift to the PS4 is escalating.

With regards to China, the console market itself is beginning to emerge with the PS4. Therefore, I do feel a tinge of anxiety in terms of these considerable masterpieces no longer being available to play. That said, it’s not an easy/quick task to port these titles to the PS4, so we would need to take it one step at a time in generating a path for these titles to become playable on the PS4.

Sony’s Ahmad: “Software is No Longer a Problem on PS Vita”
borderlands2psvita200011.jpg

As part of a look ahead at PlayStation indies in 2015, Shahid Ahmad, Senior Business Development Manager at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, was interviewed by MCV UK recently.

Among the various topics discussed, Ahmad was asked about Sony’s plans for the PlayStation Vita in the UK, and he revealed that there’s a “truckload of content coming down the line,” with “over 50 titles coming from independent developers.” Among those upcoming titles, he said there’s some “where we talk to large entities where we can’t actually discuss details and so on,” and they’re very busy right now.

Ahmad continued:

I’m not sure if you’d call Vita a massive success, but it’s certainly been doing good numbers, it’s been steady, and software is coming practically by the day. The catalogue is really healthy now. Software is no longer a problem on Vita, I would say. There are still people saying ‘I want this on Vita’. You can’t have everything; there are commercial realities. But we are seeing more and more, and I don’t think people are going to run out of Vita games anytime soon.

When it comes to developers, Ahmad says he’s hearing “as much interest from developers on Vita as we are on PS4.” With all this support, he revealed that there were over 50 titles on Vita last year, with a similar number this year, and “even more next year.“

Referencing the recent 20-year anniversary of PlayStation, Ahmad said, “It’s never been easier to work with PlayStation, and the demand has never been greater either. It’s exciting times.”

Are you excited for all the Vita games in 2015?
Vita owners, care to chime in? I also plan to pick one up next week, look for under $200 if possible.

I love mine. But I do tend to play it in spurts. It is also not the most comfortable thing if you have larger than average hands.

Alot of great games, though. And most come to PS+ for free.
New Details on Bloodborne Chalice Dungeons
+ Posted by Masaaki Yamagiwa  on Dec 17, 2014 // Producer, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Studio

Hello, PlayStation fans! We had a great time in Las Vegas earlier this month, attending the Game Awards to debut ourbrand new Bloodborne gameplay trailer, and presenting a brand new game feature, Chalice Dungeons, on-stage at the PlayStation Experience  keynote in front of the many fans in the audience — and so many more watching online.

The new Chalice Dungeon feature takes players into the depths of ancient underground ruins located beneath the city of Yharnam. By using holy chalices, players can enter these dungeons and explore the vast structures and multiple levels. However, every time a portal is opened up, the structure of the dungeon itself changes. These dungeons are filled with traps, nightmarish creatures, and of course rewards for brave and skilled hunters to claim whether they complete them on their own, or with the help of other hunters online.

Chalice Dungeons add a ton of additional content and replay value to the depth and richness of the full game itself, and can even be uploaded for other people to try out. Share your dungeons with your friends, or go online to find new Chalice Dungeons to explore. Even after you master the game, discovering all of the secrets it has to offer, there will be new challenges awaiting you.

I’m excited to be able to share some brand new details and screenshots of some of the dark and dangerous locations, as well as some of the gruesome inhabitants of these vast subterranean ruins. Hunters brave enough to make their way into the ruins will have to navigate through places like dreadful oily swamps and intricate, gothic, grand halls. But beware, not everything is as it seems. Whoever, or whatever, created these ruins did not want visitors; deadly traps, like these giant guillotine blades caked in blood of hunters past, could be anywhere.

Among the foul beasts and other creatures you’ll come across in the dungeons are the protectors and the protector ritual masters. Born in the depths of the dungeons and having never seen the light of day, these pale-skinned masters of the deep roam the halls, protecting the secrets held within. Despite their sunken, pitch-black eyes, be sure they will find you. Be especially mindful of the ritual masters, who perform a dark and ancient ceremony that few have lived to talk about.

If you caught our Chalice Dungeon live demo during the PlayStation Experience keynote a few weeks ago, you’ll recognize this final enemy, the ancient guard dog. With a rock-hard petrified exterior and clad in a dense cloak of flames, these ancient guard dogs are said to be the oldest creatures found in the ruins.

Let us know what you think in the comments below. We have a lot more to share in the coming months, so stay tuned right here to PlayStation.Blog. I hope you’re ready to hunt your nightmares starting on March 24th.

Street Fighter V Development Currently 20% Complete

sfv-ryu-denjinhadouken-622-2-crop.png

Love it or hate it, Street Fighter V is coming, but there’s definitely some room for your opinion to change between now and the game’s release, according to some new details released in this week’s issue of Famitsu.

During an interview with Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono, it was relayed that the upcoming title is currently only 20% of the way through development. While not all that surprising (especially with the Work in progress gameplay footage attached to the bottom of the gameplay trailers), it does give a good point of reference for fans to keep in mind during discussions of early footage.

A concrete release date has yet to be confirmed, but a recent Amazon listing  possibly revealed Street Fighter V as an early 2016 title.

We are in the process of translating Famitsu’s full talk with Ono, so stay tuned for more details.

If you are on your home network it works great. When the loot cave was alive, I used my Vita to run that and it worked great.

I havent tried from a different location but I heard it can be hit or miss.

There will be a small amount of input lag no matter what you do, so games like COD are probably out.
