The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Question on The Last of Us...

So I started last night, made it about 30 minutes in -- I'm outside with the chick, my character Joel the main guy had to drop into some ditch to retrieve a board/plank and pass it up to the chick so she could cross. Then she tells me to come back up and get to the other side with her

How the hell do I get back up? I went around everywhere for 30 minutes looking for a place to jump, or something to shoot, with no luck. So I got upset and had to quit. Just wondering if anyone remembers that part

I got 36/37 optional conversations on tloa. So heated. I used a walk through so I know I got all of them but one didn't register.

Evil Within worth $30 or should i wait a month or so to get it for less?

Next week is the release of the RE1: Gamecube version remake
pimp.gif

Anyone else getting it?
I'd say wait for another price drop. Great game but some minor issues that drag the game down.

REmake is tied with Silent Hill 2 for the best survival horror game of all time. Crazy how that's basically the Gamecube version upscaled; game is beautiful. I would really like to see a game use pre-rendered backgrounds this generation. It would literally look photo realistic.

I want to get this for the PS4 but apparently it can't run the game at a stable 30 FPS... Might have to go with PC for the best experience, which is disappointing because I really wanted to play this on PS4.

Go to 34:42.

Great, now I just need to brush up on my Hiragana.
The article itself even states that the ps vita is being eclipsed by the 3ds in japan.
Seems like nintendo will be releasing quality games, while the vita is focusing on quantity.
We already know which aspect is better.

My point wasn't quality, you said no games are coming out and this disproved that.

The next Youkai Watch on the 3DS will probably outsell all 39 games coming out on the Vita but it doesn't dismiss the fact that there are 39 games coming out on the system.

As for the quality of the games, here's the full list. Do you know all of them to judge on their quality, especially before the game has released. Even if you remove the Visual Novels, there's still a lot of games.

Disappointing.

It feels like this generation already hit it's peak only after a year. :smh:

If they're sacrificing 60fps, don't you think you'll see the benefits in the visuals.

Also looking at the jump from UC 1 to 3, this gen only just got started.

Toukiden: Kiwami comes to PS4 and PS Vita this March

Around this time last year I blogged about Toukiden: The Age of Demons for the PS Vita and we received a lot of positive feedback from many PlayStation fans here (that made us very happy!). Today we’re proud to announce that Toukiden: Kiwami is coming to PS4 and PS Vita on 27th March 2015 (in both physical and digital formats) in Europe.

Toukiden: Kiwami is double the size of the original game, so you should expect new weapons, newly discovered Oni, new Mitama (over 100 new Mitama), new Slayers, new moves, and twice as many stages.

Theres this one hack and slash game I've seen on Live with Playstation that JP streams.  Its basically like DmC with a team of scantily clad women with different weapons, styles and abilities.  Game looks pretty fun.  I hope to get my hands on a copy when i go Far East (Philippines) in the next few months.

Just google'd it its called Oneechanbara

I could care less about 60fps. Gameplay is what matters.
Frame rate affects gameplay. It's impossible to play competitive FPS, action games, fighting games, or racing games at 30 FPS. That's why all multiplayer and fighting games run at 60 FPS, even on PS3. The difference is massive. It's so much more smoother, crisper and makes the game play better as a result.

For argument's sake. No one in their right mind would prefer 30 to 60.

I'm sure the visuals will look great but what's the point if you can't view and play through them at an optimal frame rate? My point is, we as gamers, should want the best experience especially after developers literally bragged about providing 1080p/60 FPS being the standard this generation. Seeing every developer backtrack, the sooner their game gets to release is pretty disappointing.

I agree with fighting games. Did Uncharted 1-3 run at 60fps? Those were my favorite games on PS3 and they ran fine to me. I'm not saying I would prefer 30fps over 60fps, just that I really don't care. The graphics will be there, gameplay will be better than Uncharted 1-3, story will be good etc. I don't see the big difference to tell the truth. I switched between 30fps and 60fps on TLOU:R and didn't see much of a difference.

I remember hearing 1080p as the standard but not 60fps.

I want the best experience but high framerate doesn't always equate to the best experience in a console with finite resources.

For certain games resources diverted to the improve the graphical effects, lighting and atmospshere etc. instead of framerate may improve the experience due to better immersion.

The order for a example, I'll rather take the clean IQ with no jaggies over 60fps for what they're aiming for but that's just me.

I'm crying right now.

"who's beast is this"

The look on his face, looking around like who unleashed this

I would take those graphical effects over frame rate too, for Adventure games. I just have a hard time aiming on Consoles when the FPS is capped at 30; feels so janky and unresponsive.

I know Mortal Kombat isn't as regarded highly on the competitive scene, but it sure is the most fun, IMO. This was probably posted before but this trailer is gorgeous. Truly impressive how good this game looks; Looks like CGI at some points. Watch at 1080p/60 fps.

offwhitewhite offwhitewhite MKX looks beatiful. Will definitely be a great game no doubt. MK9 was a great game and I like the addition of the 3 different fighting styles you can incorporate with each character

Man I used to feel this way too. And then I played The remasterd Tomb Raider. And Maaaaaan 60 fps is where it's at. Is it necessary? No. But it is definitely a plus if a game has it.

No way. I did too and the 30fps option was awful. I couldn't believe it. I mean, I can play 30fps games no problem, but flipping the switch like that in TLOU:R was incredibly jarring.

I'd rather Naughty Dog prioritize 60 fps. They've been so influential with the uncharted series that i believe they could be influential again with games prioritizing 60 fps.

I just never noticed it.

What exactly did you do to notice a difference? I turned it on 30fps and walked around for a few minutes, didn't see a difference and switched back.

Maybe I just need to go and actuallyplay through a chapter or two at 30fps and see if I can notice the difference. Uncharted 4 is already most likely my game of the year, I don't think I'll care if it runs at 30fps. It's the least of my worries. *shrugs*

I noticed immediately on the curtains in the main menu. Then I switched it midway through the SP, took probably 5 steps and said NOPE.

There is a HUGE difference in TLoU when you switch from 30 to 60fps.  Just panning around with the camera you can see the difference.  Although the shadows in 30fps were more detailed than in 60 fps, i read that was a compromise.
