The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Buy 2 get 1 free deals are the best and quickest hustles. Buy 3 games and return them without a receipt to Walmart. They allow 3 returns without receipts every 90 days.

Even better if u have multiple IDs/Driver Licenses. 9 free games every year :pimp:

NBA Live Developer Leaves EA to Join 2K Games, Will Work on NBA 2K
View media item 1125602
Former professional basketball player and NBA Live 14 Associate Designer, Scott O’Gallagher has departed Electronic Arts to join 2K Games. He will now work on the NBA 2K series.

O’Gallagher had left EA back in June, but it wasn’t until now that he updated his Twitter profile to add his new role of Gameplay Producer for NBA2K. We’re not quite sure why he has jumped ship, but it’s evident that 2K Games currently has an edge over EA in terms of fan response and reception of the basketball games.

Recently, 2K Games announced that singer Pharrell Williams will “curate the most extensive and unique soundtrack compilation in NBA 2K franchise history.”

NBA 2K15 will be out for PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on October 7.

Tekken 7 Might Get an Arab Fighter, Depends on Fan Response
View media item 1125622
Tekken 7 Game Director Katsuhiro Harada announced on his Facebook that the upcoming Bandai Namco title might feature an Arab character depending on response from Middle-Eastern fans. Posted above is the concept art (click to open/enlarge). Harada said:

To be honest, we did have an idea of an Arab fighter since 2008, but since most of the development team members are Japanese and do not know much about the Middle Eastern culture or clothes, we were not able to fully design it back then. But in recent years I (Harada) have been visiting places such as Dubai and Saudi Arabia, and many of the development staff members have been learning about Middle Eastern culture and designs. From there we came up with this character’s outfit design.

He has asked the Middle-Eastern fan community for feedback, stating that if the character is well-received, it will be included in the game. If not, it will either be changed “considerably” or dropped completely.

As someone who is well-acquainted with the Middle-East, I have to say that the idea is pretty cool. However, the design will need a lot of work. As many others have pointed out, it looks too Assassin’s Creed-y
The character design looks GREAT! I say do it Namco :pimp:

I'm looking forward to it too. I'm really hoping it doesn't play like Titanfall, I'm not feeling those flying jumps or whatever they're called.

Big PS4 Announcement Coming at a Game Show from Major Developer According to Kadokawa Honcho
View media item 1125637
Former Famitsu Editor in Chief and Kadokawa and Enterbrain head honcho Hirokazu Hamamura is one of the men best positioned to be in the know of what’s going to happen in the Japanese gaming industry, and yesterday he held a special seminar at the YouTube Space Tokyo in Roppongi Hills as part of the the YouTube Gamers’ Day event.

During the seminar Hamamura-san mentioned that the performance of the PS4 in Japan isn’t as good as expected, and while the numbers aren’t terrible per se, it cannot be denied that they pale in comparison to sales in North America and Europe.

He continued by revealing that despite the fact that the Japanese market is by its own nature dominated by mobile games, talking to a major developer he heard that at a game show there will be a big announcement that could help accelerate Sony’s new console’s local performance.

Hamamura-san did not explicitly mention which game show he was talking about, but he used the anglicized version “gemushou,” which in Japan normally indicates Tokyo Game Show. Considering that he’s talking about the Japanese market, it would only make sense for the announcement to happen at TGS.

What will the announcement be about? That’s a complete mystery, and while Hamamura-san’s wording seems to indicate a third party developer, he did not give any further details. The most probable theory is a PS4 release of a very popular Japanese franchise, and there are quite a few candidates there, including Tales of, Persona, Dragon Quest (Square Enix recently mentioned that the possibility of the franchise returning to Sony consoles exists) and more.

Unfortunately we’ll have to wait for the announcement in order to know for sure.
Do gamers even care about japanese developed games anymore? Western based games have accelerated over the last year 5 years, now people are looking forward to those developed games instead of Japanese based companies.

Japanese games still have their place.

E3 last year, you saw the reactions for FFXV and KH3 and this year once Hidetaka Miyazaki popped up as the director for Bloodborne, there was cheering all round. People are still anticipating The Last Guardian too. Even Ni No Kuni was more popular in the west than Japan and then you have the fighting games, especially the Capcom ones which are immensely popular.

The problem with Japan though is that not only is mobile killing everything but they take too long to release games. Gran Turismo, The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy are few examples of games that are/is taking too long to come out.

As for the game, Sony Japan is rumored to be creating their own big JRPG in the vain of Final Fantasy because they don't want to rely on SE or other Japanese devs since a lot of them have diverted a lot of resources to mobile games so it might be that. It would be good iIf Sony can develop a successful JRPG on consoles. We need more devs to jump on that bandwagon.
