We had a good run fellas but it's too bittersweet for my liking. Haven't watched ESPN or NFL Network since the game. Still not over it...|I

Lots of positives to look forward to, especially our franchise QB.

Here's to winning the SB this year!

:frown:

 Same here havent really watch SC since before the game

But i heard today that we dont plan on releasing Alex Smith? Is this a trick to get teams to offer up?

If there isnt a team that is willing to give us something for Alex, we will cut him. It would be stupid not to. Far too much money to be tied up in a backup quarterback. That money could be used so many other places.

There's no way the front office doesnt see this too. I still think someone will trade for Alex. It just will be for like a 5th round pick. Which I am fine with.

Hey fellas, came in here to say Go Niners and I hope this team is not metally out of it after 2 tries at it.
But you know a third times is a charm.
I'll mostly be lurking all off season to read any news. Peace.

Keep your heads up. The Ravens suffered brutal playoff losses for 5 seasons before finally getting to the Superbowl and winning the big game. I have no doubt our guys will take that bitter taste of losing in the Super Bowl and use it as fuel for next season. The previous season was not a Superbowl or bust despite what a lot of people think. Our team improved in many areas, got more balanced and we still have the most talented roster for seasons to come.

Now lets find a way to sign Goldson long term.

I have a feeling that no one will offer for Alex Smith because everyone is thinking that he'll get released. There's also Seattle throwing out Matt Flynn out there, so there's no rush by NFL teams to get Alex Smith.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Why would a team trade a pick (high pick) for a player that is just going to get released anyway? But, I dont think its JUST that fact. Its also because this is Alex Smith we are talking about. I just dont think there is a big market for him.

Taken from another board:

Appearing on NFL 32, ESPN's Chris Mortensen suggested that the 49ers would accept a fourth-round pick for Alex Smith.

"There hasn't been a real hot market," said Mortensen. "Bottom line is there's not gonna be a lot of suitors for him. ... Maybe a fourth-rounder gets it done." Although his statistics under quarterback-guru coach Jim Harbaugh might lead fans to believe otherwise, Smith is not highly regarded around the NFL. He's viewed as a borderline starter and short-term stopgap solution.

Pretty much.  Teams know we most likely aren't going to keep Alex so the rest of the NFL would be wise just to play the waiting game for him to get dropped by us.  No sense in other team paying with draft picks when they can essentially get Alex from us for free.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet
Jim Harbaugh said its "unlikely" QB Alex Smith gets released. Must be confident in the trade market, particularly with this QB class
Matt Maiocco ‏@MaioccoCSN
49ers coach Jim Harbaugh says the two most likely scenarios for Alex Smith are keeping him on roster or a trade.
Matt Barrows ‏@mattbarrows
Does Alex Smith want to be traded to specific teams? "No," said Jim Harbaugh. "... he wants to play. And you can totally understand it."

Coach Harbaugh doing some work today!!! It only takes one stupid GM to believe what we are selling, so keep it up!

There are a lot of teams who need a QB. But would they rather draft one or go for a game manager like Alex? Who knows. Anyways, any word on Goldson's contract yet?

Saw Maiocco retweet that the 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for Alex Smith is essentially complete but the deal cannot be finalized until March 12.

Wonder who took the bait on this

we get anything more than a 7th rd and its highway robbery.

god I hope its highway robbery

everything i posted in the last thread is happening

Smith to KC and Goldson probably not coming back

dude was on the money again :pimp:

Trading Smith will negate the 1 million dollar guarantee and other incentives he wouldve made had be been on our roster at the beginning of the calender season

how awesome would it be if it was alex smith for eric berry? BOOOMMM!

brb finishing my koolaid

HD Eric Berry is a monster :smokin

Even though hes a SS, I'd take him a second. With all the complaining dudes do about our CB, Im suprised no one complains about Whitner. He got Killed all season in coverage. Jermichael, Rudolph, Pitta all had their way with him. Our secondary would be a mess without gettin a legit FS to replace Goldson. I personally would liked to cut Whitner, resign Dashon move him to SS and drafted or signed a natural FS.
