Him coming back as a white walker is the most obvious/easiest plot direction. Even easier to explain than melisandre reviving him.

Which is why I don't think the writers do it. It also wouldn't make for very interesting story. I imagine as a white walker We'd lose the Jon Snow perspective since they're mindless zombies.

Also (for the sake of argument), if Jon was to be turned I highly doubt the writers would make him a wight (the mindless zombies).

They'd cook up some **** & have the white walkers somehow make him as they are.
