Shoe Game is pretty much over for me now..

^^^ the absolute reason I'm done with buying shoes like I did before. I in no way want to be associated with those people. The great majority of NT are these dudes.
it was a RUDE awakening when i first got here...when i was coppin kicks i thought only hood dudes gave a crap

about kicks...soon as i went to my first sneaker event way back when, da amount of dweebs, dorks, and nerds

was mindblowing.

i remember when NT was almost all asian too, back then my demographic wasn't hip to da proliferation of da kicks culture

to da web, still doing da going to da corner and copping from mom & pops, and if they sold out, oh wells just get w/e's on da wall.

^^ huge difference between normal people throwing on some Kobe's or whatever and these guys jocking to be the "coolest guy in the room". If you can't see that, I don't know what to tell you.

How do you know who is rocking what to impress others? Did they tell you " Oh yah bro I'm rocking these galaxy foams + givenchy + LV belts because I want other people to be on my jock"

You must be insecure bro. Like seriously, why you worried about what those dudes rock?  Live your own life bruh, It just means you never liked sneakers in the first place.

And Ninhood, Da logic you are using as to why would somebody want to wear shoes from somebody they never watched play is just HILARIOUS. Your worried about the wrong things. I guess I gotta have watched a chicken being born before it would be ok to eat it. I'm not a true chicken head because I didn't even see the birth of that chicken. Shame on me

Real talk, I feel what nixon james and ninjahood are saying. I feel the same way. I think y'all saw race in nixon's post and missed the deeper meaning. I don't know whether it's due to his wording or you guys really don't see his point, but what he says is absolutely true and not racist at all. Things don't become mainstream until the majority (white people) co-sign it. How is that racist. It's been done historically. Yes, once sub culture hits the 'burbs, sorry y'all it's dead and no longer "sub culture", it's mainstream. Deal with it, if you can't see that, that's on you. As far as Ninjahood, I feel you 1000% homie. I love kicks out of being basically a basketball fan. As a kid, I wanted kicks from watching the players I liked. Nowadays with the internet and research, it's easy to fake authenticity. So, it's harder to tell who is a real fan from behind a keyboard. People newer to kicks see it as a commodity. They line up to get as much of it to sell as much of it to max out profit. That's not what loving kicks is all about. That's loving money, which is what our society is about, but the genuine love gets lost behind the value of the dollar. Much like how rap has changed.

So what your saying is that white teenagers who love in the suburbs shouldn't like Nike/Jordan until it's mainstream? That's incredibly ignorant.

"Suburban white kids" have been wearing Jordan's/Nike just as long as any other human being race and location does not matter. The product is available everywhere, and people buy what available.

Don't be stupid fam.

Thank you. Grew up in a suburban neighborhood in the early 90's. 11 white families, 2 black families. We all started on the 5s and 6s when we were in the 2nd or 3rd grade, simply because we idolized Michael Jordan and wanted to wear what he did. Had nothing to do with biting the the "hood style" (which I didn't know existed when I was 7 years old).

Does anyone here calculate how much they spend on kicks a month?

If you have a mortgage, rent, a family to support, this hobby can take a big chunk out of your budget.

1 or 2 pairs of nikes=a plane ticket.

Some people here have no problem with the price hikes of jordans and lebrons. Ask anyone who isnt a sneakerhead about how much they spend on kicks. They'll cringe.

Some of us need to re-prioritize (myself included).

Im definitely cutting down how much I spend on kicks.

and with JB retroing everything, im probably going to get rid off some of my retros from last decade since they have been or will be re-retroed again.

 um...if you have to calculate how much money you spend in kicks MONTHLY at full price, you got a problem brother. It's all about being selective. This practice is very telling of those who want insta-collections and impulse buyers vs. those who know how to build a collection. Buying everything =/= having a dope colletion. It takes time to build a solid one. I tell this to people all the time, if you look at a shoe 2-3 times and say "I'm coppin", you're wasting your money. I've seen it done dozens of times. Now, if you keep coming back to that shoe 6,7,8,9 times then ok, you really are feeling the shoe. I can't tell you how many times I heard people buy a shoe because it was hot when they looked at it in hand or pics, then buy it only to say a year later "oh, I frogot I have those. I don't even wear them". What's the point of buying them then?

"Collecting" is what started the price hikes. I have about 200 pairs of shoes, but that's through more than 10 years of buying shoes and wearing them. People treat them like trophies, sticking them in a closet just to take pics to post online. As soon as shoes were no longer "just shoes" things turned for the worst in every possible way.

Agreed. I never understood the description of being a "collector" it implies that they will not be worn, just displayed. I might have stuff on ice for a while but you better believe it will be worn. Likely, it's a double of a shoe I really like. I don't buy shoes to display them.

^^ yup, they don't realize that in 10 years they'll have nothing to show for themselves besides boxes full of unwearable, deteriorated, shoes

TRUTH!!

You know what also? I can't stand some these gimmicked shoes. Forreal, in 6 years do you think Christmas Lebrons from 2012 are going to be hot? Can you break out Christmas colors in July and have it look sane? I don't hate on new colors of kicks but specific gimmick colors just don't work. They don't see it but over time, the kicks they are killing themselves to get now, will not be classics in years to come. Expect some of those to be on ebay. :smh: at being prisoner of the momentary hype.

The Christmas Lebrons ain't bad except the 9's. it's the Allstar games and galaxy's that get me

But you get what I'm saying right? All these cw that people are going crazy over aren't classic, just what's hot at the moment b/c they are limited. Yet people kill themselves over them. It's crazy.

After I got my grails, the thrill of the chase was pretty much gone for me. I sold all my retros from 06/07 to now because the quality was trash and I got tired of looking at that crap. I was lucky enough to enjoy retros when JB had something to prove the first time around. I'm done with retros for sure since I can't see JB paying more for good materials when they sell out the junk they make. To control my spending I just ask myself,"Can these compete with what I already have?" Until I can answer yes, my money is staying put.

Nah I'm with you. Dudes boasting over shoes with all the colors of the rainbow on it and proceed to call you homo for saying they are wack

I'd actually go earlier with the Dub zeros though.

Ah ha ha Dub Zeros.

I remember those. I actually coped the black ones when they came out... Still DS. Thanks for the reminder... I will use em as beaters... just gotta find it!

NOW, they don't look so bad because things have gotten way worse since then, but those are still wack in my opinion. It was the beginning of horror. Frankenstein kicks are a no go, at least for me.

I love this post. Ive expressed these feelings a lot and to see a lot of you guys feel the same way is great.

I'm pretty much done with buying sneakers..I've realized that being 35 with 175 pairs of shoes is pointless, so I started to sell what I could..Down to about 85 pairs now and the only reason I have that much is cause people don't want to buy vnds shoes..You just get to a point where between the price hikes, bad quality, and multiple re re retros it just makes it overkill..I'll always love shoes and I'll always get a pair or two a year, if I really have a desire for the shoe, but the "collecting" part of it is done for me..I'd rather spend money on my son anyway..Besides what the hell am I supposed to do with all these shoes when I'm 55 or 60?..
