If You Are Looking for/Interested In Working With The Federal Government...Come In. Positions Availa

I live in dc
Then you know how plentiful jobs are out here once you are established.

Edit: Depending on your field.
I hope you're right, I have a certain lifestyle I'm tryna maintain. Are there any particular contractors that might value a logistics skillset? how should I separate myself from other applicants? is there anything I can do to prep for the transition while I'm still on active duty?
I'm not sure what you can do while still active, but while I was interning our base had a lot of workshops for people who were about to transition

to the civilian world. Maybe you can see if your base offers the same workshops.

For your resume look at some reqs for logistics positions and use the same language for any related experience.

Check out the positions for Booz Allen, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, BAE, Raytheon, SAIC, Leidos, Boeing, L3, General Dynamics, etc

Use glassdoor to gauge what your potential salary could be for your area and position.

My last contract, our deputy PM (CACI) was liked so much by the CIO of the agency, he moved into a gs15 position as the DAD of the smaller group my team managed that fell under that agency when they lost the contract (SRA). It was his first govt position ever and he was in the Air Force for like 4 years or something.

I've been contracting since graduation (8 years) and my pops going on 12 years. He's double dipping since he is a 32 year retired gs14 from another agency. That old school TSP .... :smokin

Got my Dell Certification today.... Better to start somewhere than do nothing.

My University has a contract with Dell was I was able to take it for free

I tell them all the time, if they want people to enroll in the military, they need to tell them these type of potential setups they can have to be set in life

Most folks always state they were doing 1099/Consulting work as they have an LLC or some self-made company to provide the illusion that they were bossing it up.

What's good man? Long time no speak...still down at Quantico? Actually just won a seat with a Teaming Agreement for work at the MCNOSC where my old fiancée is the ISSO.

Kick off meeting is going to be like the Kick-Out meeting when she sees me in two weeks...CANT WAIT!

Trying to give back!

I'm in Brooklyn, NY now and my hometown of Rockland County/Suffern/Haverstraw.

I'll keep trying to support those wishing to do the Federal 9-5 thing and those that don't.

Just spent the last two months running all around the East Coast and launching a few things. I'll try to catch up.

*Hint for those asking......Someone is more likely to take TIME out of their day to help and respond to you if:

A. You are Helping Yourself (Proactive)

B. You are willing to help others

If you reach out asking for a "job" and come across selfish and self-serving. Trust I see a lot of names that treat people like garbage on here and come around only to ask for things. Yeah you mos def would do well in a Fed Govt job.

Never know who is watching and how you act when you think no one is looking is a true reflection of your character.

Most Contracts are 5 years total.....Base
I applied for a position a while back that was TS. Filled out that long *** form. Never heard about the result of the background check for the clearance. Is there a way to get that information?

Depends who was doing the investigation.....OPM....DISCO...The Agency was?

Personnel Security is backlogged, undertrained and at times contracted out. It sucks. Point Blank.

I've left the GS & BS to pursue other venture full time.......

And life is good, just trying to answer questions from someone with almost 10 years in the space, politics and bs that is Govt Contracts, DOD/Fed CIV and Private Sector/Industry.

This isn't a pissing contest to see who knows more FAR Regs or Acronyms (if you know too many I think you are a NARC anyhow).

Whats the first job you got out of college?

1.5 years in still no clearance lmao this is a joke. My boy just called me saying he was contacted by my investigator lol I really don't understand how they are still interviewing people. I'm guessing it will take 3 years to get my full clearance they are so backed up it's ridiculous.

I had been working since I was 12/13 or really all my life.

I worked selling things in middle school.

I played athletics in college...somewhat...long story.

I worked at Shoppers Food, Timberland, Best Buy, Sprint, Server/Bartender. First out of school was still running a Sprint franchise and Interned at the Washington Wizards. Next Job.......CS 1102 GS-7 IP Making $40K! Big Tymer! :smh:

I'll be available in the DC area this week to meet up and further discuss.

1 hour meeting and you can walk out with a resume that will be accepted by Industry & Federal HR Offices and a new approach to find the job/career path for you. 8) :smoking

Come to my shop at Cigar & More.

My girl needs some help. She's trying to get in, resume is on point (she gets refereed) but she keeps getting beat out by Vets. She got in at one agency but was dropped after a vet challenged the hire. Trying to find someone that will do a direct hire but most HR folks don't want to go through the extra work. She's weary of going contractor at least until atleast she sees who will be the next President.

I'm looking to potentially get into the feds as well. My resume gets refereed buts the vets are beating me out as well.

Where are you looking? Geographically? Are you willing to move?

I live in the DMV area and I'm applying in all 3 but so far no dice. I'm very open to relocation if its a great fit.

If you were outside the DMV area I would say you may want to to leave. You should look into "direct hire" announcements, veteran preference don't apply. Meaning veterans don't get the extra points.

Only thing with "direct preference" most of the time they know who they want but its dont hurt to apply because there are outliers.

DM Me.

That's common logic, but Contractor (a skilled one has infinite job security, gets paid more and has flexibility to badge flip (think of yourself as a mercenary married to the dollar and not some lame Fed Agency).
