What's scary: We're in the stage where stars plan to play together, and now the Lakers will be able to offer that kind of money.

Remember the Big Three more or less play in Miami cause Miami was the one who could make it happen. If the Knicks had the space, it could've and would've been there.

It could be Lebron and Melo if he wants to replace a broken Dwyane Wade as his sidekick , or it could be another set in the future. Or it doesn't have to happen all at once.

Just hoping the Lakers don't blow all their money. If all the good ones pass next summer, don't blow it on Wade or something just do get a big name. Suck if you have to.

everyone talking like Kobe going to retire 2014...dude acting like he aint going anywhere.... so we paying him vet minimum?

I hope Kobe's pride allows him to take a minimum or $3 mil contract or something. I know his brain is smart enough to realize he should.

Maybe he wants $10 mil, Lakers won't, and he goes to play somewhere else? I hope not.

Nash
Kobe on the cheap
Melo
2014 First round pick TBD?
Pau on the cheap

Fillers, etc etc.

At that point, I hope we save money still, and pursue Rondo and Love the following year.

Rondo
Kobe on cheap
Melo
Love
2014 First rounder TBD?

And then fully flesh out the bench with youth/shooting/defense as the starters would be aged a bit tho still with enough prime in them for 3-4 years outside of Kobe and the 2014 TBD pick.

I wrote an essay about it to P, he shredded it and kept on with his life.

Y'all are on some serious hallucinogens if you are even entertaining the dream that they would be on the same team together

I don't care how much you want to WIN when your a player who just a year ago was averaging 28 6 & 5 and playing some of the better basketball of your life in your 17th year you don't take the veterans minimum, hell even just a MLE

Kobe isn't going to make less than 10$ a season and it would be foolish of anyone in this franchise to think he would take that kind of a cut.

The thing is that he should. Cutting his salary in half could result in signing one good player or two decent players

Kobe at 10mil a yr is cutting more than half of what he's at now.

Kaman is official for 1yr........no complaints on that from me

Kaman bashers already huh. He averaged 10 and 6 in 20 minutes worth of play. I'll take that anyday over ya'll boy Sacre.

I know Kaman can contribute, but the guy is always hurt. Heres hoping to a healthy season for the man...and the rest of the squad.

The thing is the Lakers aren't going to give him a bunch of money unless they had nothing else to spend it on. I don't think they're planning all this cap space in 2014 just to turn around and commit it all to Kobe again.

I honestly think Kobe will accept a small contract if he's on the hunt for another ring and Kupchak explains the situation. I'm sure he already knows how the cap works. Maybe not $3 million small, but somewhere around the MLE.

Vet players are getting paid all the time and they're not as good as Kobe is (Manu, for example). But the situations are different: those teams don't have cap space, so they're not really doing anything except inching closer to the tax line.

There is a balance between taking as little as possible so the team can spend elsewhere, and a respectful amount just based on name and reputation and career. It'll be interesting to see where the Lakers and Kobe both think that point is.

what do you get when you put a spanish alpaca and an albino orc from the lord of the rings together? the 2013 los angeles lakers

If you don't mind me asking, what's the
indifferent.gif
and
mean.gif
for? It's a 1yr minimum deal for a backup center
Who's gonna play PF? I think he and Gasol will play together.

It's a great signing under our circumstances. We have no money. We have no assets. We're low on draft picks.

I mean, what is there to stone face or shake your head about? Some of you expect us to go out there and buy top notch centers? We can't do ****.

Kaman is as solid as a center we can afford
To pay. 1 year contract is a no risk situation.

It doesn't solve our issues or make us a playoff team. But it helps fill a hole that is impossible to be filled. And it doesn't disrupt our 2014 plans.

So it works.
Good job Mitch. I know you're trying to make chicken salad outta chicken doo doo because of your idiot owner. I see you. I know you're trying to save the unsavable team. I see you.
