Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. * S7 Premieres May27

cap america is frozen and all the other avengers have not become heros yet so hopefully they will be able to tackle larger issues since they wont ever have to deal with the "if its such a big deal why are the avengers not helping" thing that AoS is dealing with

Yeah that's what I hate about Arrow and what they're doing. It's stupid to have them exist in a separate universe. Look at what Marvel is going to do with the Netflix shows. DC easily could've done the same and had them connected in the universe on a street-like level.
it would be so easy for them to just throw in green arrow and flash into JL and not have to worry about making intro movies

at it would all fit together because every hero has his own city anyways

it wouldnt be like if they added spiderman into marvel people would wonder where he was for the alien attack

Let's be honest though, do we really need origin films for the core members of the JLA? Can't it be treated like the XMen films where everyone already knows these guys anyways? I mean it worked well for their animations. They can do JLA and then solo films afterwards.

Dont get me wrong, I'd love an origin film for each members including Aquaman and all but I don't mind them doing it the other way around. I mean do we have to see Flash origins again after we see it done in Arrow and a full season of tv show about it (even if they recast for the film)? We don't really need another origin for GL and everyone knows Batman and WWs story for the most part. Aquaman can help out in JLA (film) and then go back and deal with his kingdom under the sea in his own film and just touch up on his origins there. Same can be done with Martian Manhunter.

Just throwing ideas out there that could work.

i think its better to have origin films if you have the time and money, you get to explore and focus on the individual heroes and see what makes them click

i dont think many people cared for iron man before the first iron man movie

its also easier to explain everything in xmen, everyone has superpowers because they were born that way.

if they shot avengers without any back stories non comic fans would be wondering why that guy turns big and green when hes angry, or why a god from across the universe would care about saving new york

xmen all have the same basic backstory, they were born with powers. for avengers or JL how and why each person is a good guy with powers needs to be explained

of course they can always do that later and throw out a JL movie first as you said

if anyone could go without a backstory it would be batman because everyone already knows whats up with him

Got no doubt Agent Carter will be better.
Underwhelming is definitely the word to describe this show.
Basically, even after it got a bit better with the TWS tie-ins. For 22 eps you need really good writers and a set plan to be consistently good.

After a few eps I just took it for what it was.

So will any of you watch agent carter? I'll watch the pilot out of curiosity.
only real plot points im interested in is learning more about howard stark's history
that would be pretty dope, especially if Cooper made a few Sam Jax type cameos.

Agent Carter definitely has more potential, since it would be pretty much independent from the happenings of the current going-ons in the movies.
Might be cool to see it eventually tie-in to Ant Man given the original, Pym, is old as ****.

Difference is the Avengers members outside of Hulk aren't the that popular. Cap, Thor, Iron Man, Hawkeye, etc... are all b to c grade heroes in comparison to Spiderman,Wolverine, Batman, etc...

Everyone here and in the world grew up in the JL animated tv show just like the 90s XMen animated tv show so most are familiar with the core members. Those shows makes a huge impact, just look at the Batman Beyond movie demand, that is purely a tv show that just spawned a comic book after it's popularity. There's also a reason most peoples complain with comic book films is how they differ from their cartoon versions. Supes, Bats, WW, GL, Flash, etc... are all very familiar to most already so I think they can start with that and go from there. DCs animated films works very well that way.

Again I'd love to see origins for all the JLA members before the film but that isn't what we are getting and I am just thinking of a way it could work.

I seen every episode and I just don't feel anything about any of the characters. Which blows my mind, because Joss Whedon's name is on it, and at the very least, he's great at casting shows and making characters that feel different and full, so even if he dipped after the pilot, there shoulda been more here. But there's almost nothing there.

Iono. I feel the same way about AoS as I do reruns of The Mentalist or Castle, that I end up catching a piece of waiting for NBA on TNT to start, or if I'm tryna pass out and Inside the NBA ended and one of those started.

There's no real characters or story. I mean, kinda. But it's like the bare minimum, forgettable, 'just enough to kinda entertain you if nothing else is on.' It's good they ditched Ward, but they double downed on Skye being the lead of the show, even though that actress ain't ****. May's just a flat, generic character. And it feels like the biggest mistake they made was building a show around Coulson, cuz the character was real popular off his little 5 min comic relief act. But they never stopped to ask themselves...is this an actor who can be that dude, who could lead a TV show?

Fitz and Simmons are straight and probably deserve to be on a better show with real characters. Especially Fitz.

And that's it. That's the whole cast. Like...Fringe was a pretty good, uneven show, but that had so much more from day 1, that AoS still doesn't. It had a premise, it had it's own style, it had a perspective, it had consistent dialogue and stories, it had real characters...even though the main arc of the first season was trash. But it still had all that. All AoS did was fix their main arc being trash, but nothing else.

The writing, producing, directing and tone are so inconsistent.

And you can't blame all that on waiting on the Cap 2 twist. All that did was have them speed up the story and change "Clairvoyant" to "HYDRA." There's no substance. Ward and Skye was a bad CW show. Coulson and May's mysteries woulda been weak as hell by late Heroes standard. There's so little good storytelling. And when it does come, there's no real personality to it. They try to tell jokes and do action and make suspense, and sometimes it'll work, but even when it does, the show just feels like it's copying something it saw work somewhere else.

And that's the worst part. This show had the biggest goldmine of material to work off of. And no...I didn't want a Marvel movie every week. But I can't understand how it still feels like there's nothing unique or different or special about this show at all. It feels like a spinoff of a spinoff. And the crossovers make me feel like the actors are slummin hard.

I don't even know if the show can get better next season. I feel like it's just gonna be all like the last 6 or 7 episodes, which is fine. It went from a terrible show, to an aggressively average show. They need better characters, and after 22 episodes, I don't think you can improve any of these characters or if the actors can give you much more. Gotta add some new faces. And they gotta change the showrunners, cuz whoever's casting and plotting the show....nah.

Ruth Negga, dude who plays Fitz and maybe Bill Paxton are the only homeruns. :smh:

tl;dr this show should be better, but it probably won't ever be.

I got a lot of hope for Agent Carter, because Hayley Atwell is a better actress than anyone on AoS. And I hear Dominic Cooper, who played Howard Stark, want in...and he's better than anyone on SHIELD too. You could build a show around her, and they already have a real premise besides, **** around in a plane.

i think they could def pull of a JL origins film, like after whatever bats and superman do in the next movie have a moment where supes is like we need more help if we are going to keep the world safe and have batman at his computer with a bunch of JL members flashing on the screen saying "there are a few guys i have in mind" then for the JL movie it can start with bats and supes going around recruiting JL members and eventually fighting off whatever evil together as a team

I actually hate Fitz. I was really hoping dude died in the finale. I wanted him or Ward gone.

Let Tryp cook :pimp:

Fitz...ain't even that I really like his character, but he's the best actor in the main cast. Better than Coulson and Ward.

And I don't count Trip, cuz he still feels like they're just gonna kill him any episode.

Poor Tryp. Sad thing is fans hate him... I don't get it. They like Ward over Tryp... like WHAT?!
Nazi over the black dude. :smh:

Can someone tell me the significance of what happened at the last scene where Colson was drawing those symbols on the wall?

Nobody really knows what it is exactly. It prolly has something to do with that dead Kree.

I dunno. I thought Tryp was gonna die once I saw him too but he lasted much longer than I thought he would. It's why I want Ward dead. Then Tryp has to fill his spot.

Let Mike be the guy searching for redemption.

Back to Agent Carter, is Marvel gonna make up their mind who is going to play Howard Stark? Some no name played him in IM1, Roger played him in IM2, and some younger actor played him in Cap1. Time wise it'd make sense the younger actor played him in Agent Carter.

I aint even know ppl hate Tryp. I'd guess the teen girls like Ward more than him given having more time on the show and the weak *** AngelxBuffy relationship he's having with Skye.

The designs are probably Kree. The only significance it really has is cuz crazy Paxton was doing the same thing and they harped on him being insane so there's that. So maybe Coulson is going crazy too.

Repped I must have missed that part in the episode when they mention it. I am going to have to watch again.
I remembered Sif naming various types of alien races when she guest appeared on the show.
I guess I'm one of the few whose pissed they still didn't reveal what Skye really is? I also didn't like Coulsons "secret", it felt underwhelming and it just passed like it was nothing and he is over it. Felt like a big letdown for such a build up.

It's cool Coulson becomes the new director and all but damn I wanted that finale to be bigger. Definitely didn't live up to my expectations and the season long struggle to watch the show.

Best part was Fitz and Simmons scene in that box.
I really liked the scenes of Fitz and Simmons. I thought Simmons did a great job showing emotion.

I also thought that the finale would have more as well. I appreciated the Fury cameo, but I thought he could have done more as well...Im glad it wasn't Falcon flying across the screen. lol.

Oh and it's cool how Patton Oswalt is back on the show.

**Side note, I missed out on a free screening of DOFP. Kind of annoyed.

"Agents of SHIELD" has definitely turned the tables around. I hope they put more thought and budget on the costume department though. Deathlok and Garret's costume sucks ***. Good thing Coulson shot him. Even the 90's "Power Ranger" costumes look more badass than these fools.
