NFL Quarterbacks Discussion thread: 2013 Edition

One of the main media heads in Miami has been calling for a new quarterback in Miami already.

Not even just this week, started about 3-4 weeks ago, so in effect, after his 22nd-23rd game as an NFL quarterback.

And as many of you saw in the Dolphin thread, brainless sheep like finns read that **** and regurgitate it all over the place. Now there's growing sentiment to start looking for another QB from part of the fanbase. :smh:

People are idiots.

Though if they don't put something approaching an O-Line on the field next year it might hurt Tannehill's development.

So many were leery of that signing, yet the Miam FO was eager beaver with getting a WR in, but it was clearly the wrong move. Can't make mistakes like that.

looking back, glad NE didn't take him. although at that time, most were pissed that we let him go to MIA so easily without much of a fight

Nick Foles' name is going to have to be mentioned in here more often

63% Comp. , 16 TD's, 0INT, 1554 Yards, 9.6 YPA :x 128.0 QB rating (Highest in the league)- Also three rushing touchdown as well.

He's been lights out.

Regarding Tannehill.,

What's the disconnect with him and Wallace?

The play calling?

Dude on Twitter who happens to be one of the brightest I read broke it down perfectly.

Peyton threw one that night to D Thomas. Same play basically.

Problem was Miami had a play fake, 3 step drop already in shotgun, and a hitch step and the play was on the opposite hash.

Manning was no play fake, shotgun, hitch step, let it go, same hash.

Manning's ball went 40-41 yards, hits WR in stride.
Tannehill's went over 50 yards, and he was still five yards short on the throw.

Wallace is too damn fast to be havin fakes and look offs and such and then try to get it to him. It also explains why Tannehill can underthrow him one play, but over throw him another. The timing of the plays themselves are ********, and our coaches don't adjust and get them corrected.

They did however nail that one against Cincy on the Thursday nighter, but Newman tripped Wallace up to save the TD. Otherwise, that was a game winning 80 yarder that would have them feelin a little better by now.

No, it doesn't. 8 games, etc, no sir.

He keeps doin this thru this year, and into next year, his name will come up more. But I'm not gonna start breakin him down in half a season any more than I would start breakin Barkley down after 20+ throws.

Why not, I saw Mike Glennon mentioned on dland's list of QB's THIS year so why can't Foles be a topic of discussion. I'm not saying throw him into your top 20 lists- but he is an intriguing QB prospect putting up GREAT numbers, and this is the 2013 QB discussion thread so I see nothing wrong with it. Dudes were dissecting Wilson, Kaep, RG3, Luck's career in here after their first few games. Foles was in the same draft class as those guys (excluding Kaep). And we can take this back to last year as well if you'd like.

11 Games Started- 3,253 yards, 7.6 YPA, 22 TD's , 5INT, 97.6 QB rating - This is his career to date. He looks incredibly comfortable in Chip's system and looks to have a solid future. These next 5 games are going to be critical for him.

 I didn't see Dland list Glennon.

Dland also had Kap as the greatest of all time after 11 games or somethin.

Luck/Wilson/RG3 was a diff class, and I don't remember us really placing them yet or moreso just following them.

Foles has been unreal this year to this point, but like I said, I'm not slotting him or making assumptions on him just yet.

Would love to see him make the playoffs tho and see his progression in there. If that happens, he'll surely get more mentions.

Jaws even said the "GOAT" word...

Fair points.  But yes, the word is defecates.  Look at the numbers. They arent even close. Remember Russell started off fairly pedestrian and got hot a little after half way though the season.  Colin's 10 game stretch was better than almost any QB's first 10 games in NFL history....and substantially better than Russell's.

Pretty close......

Alright....I will play along.  This is going strictly on how they have performed in 2013 so far.  Not using legacies, not projections for the rest of the season.  Just how they have done.

  1. Peyton Manning
  2. Aaron Rodgers
  3. Drew Brees
  4. Phillip Rivers
  5. Tony Romo
  6. Matt Stafford
  7. Russell Wilson
  8. Cam Newton
  9. Andrew Luck
  10. Andy Dalton
  11. Jay Cutler
  12. Matt Ryan
  13. Colin Kaepernick
  14. Ben Roethlisberger
  15. Tom Brady
  16. Jake Locker
  17. Ryan Tannehill
  18. Robert Griffin III
  19. Mike Glennon
  20. Joe Flacco

I'm done.  At this point there is no need to list the bottom/injured QBs in the league.

Really bruh? You never listed Glennon?

If only NTers shared this same thought with kaep

Right after Romo was brought up yesterday I checked my mail and received the new ESPN magazine. Any way someone can post the cover for me?

Would you mind giving a brief summary of what's mentioned in that issue? I'm actually interested in purchasing a copy when I get out of work.

Copied from NFL Discussion...

A couple good articles in here. A piece on Luck, Romo and Brees (haven't read yet).

The Luck article made me chuckle. Just hearing some of the **** Luck says and does cracks me up. Good kid.

Romo article basically went over everything we already know and how Romo is aware of this fact. It repeats the history of Romo's blunders with a timeline of his football career mixed in. I thought it interesting that Romo had also came in for Drew Bledsoe in the middle of a season to lead that team to the playoffs. Pretty much unfolded exactly opposite of Brady so far after taking over a Drew Bledsoe led team. I love the guys attitude and outlook though. Rooting for him.

my friends were clowning me cuz i said russ wilson >>>> rg3...

now... not so much...

mediocre play + people wanting the next big thing at qb and reaching = not as much rope for rg3.

Very impressed with Matt McGloin. Saw him briefly at Penn State, but never thought he'd have any NFL career whatsoever. He is poised, accurate, intelligent and has a good arm.

I was a big Tyler Wilson supporter coming into the draft, but bravo to the Raiders for giving this kid a shot. If Fitz and the Titans don't comeback on the Raiders on Sunday then we'd be hearing a lot more about McGloin right now.

He's looked Solid for an Undrafted Rookie no doubt. This guy was a Walk on at Penn State to Undrafted and 4th on the depth chart in Oakland to Starting! Amazing story :pimp: to bad the Raiders D let him down at the end
