Uhh I know for me, if you are on autofocus and it doesnt find anything to focus on, it wont take a pic. On manual focus, it should be no problem.
Read about aperture . Just google it, after i learned about that it made things so much easier. I'm still a newb, haven't even reached 1000 shots yet, smh. Got my XS at the end of Dec too.

I believe almost everyone in here Photoshops to some extent, but probably not the way you're thinking. I believe that for most of us, the onlychanges most of us make are levels, MAYBE contrast, MAYBE unsharp mask, and if needed DEFINITELY white balance. I know that when I'm really truly taking mytime to compose a shot, I try really hard to think about the final outcome and what I want to accomplish so that I don't have to PS anything later. I'msure a lot of the more experienced heads in here don't do anything other than resize their pics. Your first step should involve Wikipedia and Google andmaybe a trip to the bookstore to get some research done. After that, I would say that shopping for a camera will be your next step. In MY opinion, and Ibelieve most people's in here, the best entry level dSLRs are the Nikon D40 or D40X and the Canon Rebel XTi/XSi. They should run you about $400-$450 brandnew with an 18-55mm macro lens which is a great lens on either body.

This shot is awesome, fam. The skyline in the background is incredibly crisp. Tri-pod or handheld?

That's weird. The perspective thing in this photo is all off to me. I guess there is a hip that he is doing the backside air but since it is not there, itlooks like he did that on flat. And I guess he is a little kid but his shadow is ginormous and the ledges and hubbas in the background look all small and odd.I don't know.....maybe I am over analyzing this....

Alot of nice pics in here.

I need some help guys. Im taking digital photography and we have a project due in a few weeks. A part of the project is where i have to take pictures withsomething or someone in motion. How can i arrange my camera for the pictures? The teacher gave me instruction but not very good..

Thanks!

Panning would probably be impressive, but I can't give advice on that since I've never done it.

You're definitely going to need the area to be well lit with a high shutter speed. Depending on the light, you'll probably want your aperture setrelatively high too (big f-stop number). Worse comes to worst, set the camera to S (shutter priority), set it to at least 1/30 (read as 30 with no ") butprobably faster, and set the ISO to something that won't give you too much noise. I think if you post your previous attempts we'll be able to give youmore help as to what you're doing wrong if you are doing anything wrong, or even just ways to improve. I personally wouldn't reccomend sports because Itried that once...it did NOT go well.

I don't know why (maybe cause I am not exposed to it that much) but pictures of drugs are just kind of surreal to me. Like my school mag at the time did anarticle on this heroin addict and they took all these photos of stuff she uses and it looked like it came out of a movie. I would love to do a photo shoot witha drug cartel or something like City of God......

quick question, what should i be looking for when buying a tripod? i saw a couple of at wal-mart/best buy for about $20-30

I am curious as well on this. I went to some shops yesterday to look at some and they just look all the same aside from the build and the height. But I am notsure what I am looking for. I did see this one that was crazy that pivots in all sorts of positions so you can angle shots on a tripod in all directions but itwas huge though......

im going to quote my buddy on this

^ Buy what you can afford... As for what you should look for, these come to mind...

- Quick release plate
- Maximum extended height (60+ inches or higher would be good)
- Maximum load capacity (how much weight can it hold)
- Construction material (steel, aluminum, carbon fiber)
- Leg locks (twist vs snap-in)

nikeairsncrispy - thanks mang. its handheld..and only thing done to it was correct WB, auto levels (such a beginner ps haha) , and a touch of USM. other thanthat its how it looked on my cam.

I dibbledabble with the MJ (nothing else) but iv'e never seen anything that purple before. The color is amazing! whats it like? where do u live? Can isample?

Was there any color editing or anything like that?

Im in the market for a point and shoot but i want underwater features. Im either getting the panasonic dmc ts1s or the canon powershot that goes underwater.Anyone know of others that are either better or out right now or what?

just wondering how you guys make the cool borders and tags like the one above and others? I do have PS3 btw

select all > edit > stroke... > location: inside.

IF you dont want the border on the actual picture, get a new layer to go on top of the actual picture. Then you can proceed with what i just said.

play around with the color and sizing to your liking.

Kinda busy. Here's the only thing I have to contribute...well...in terms of the kind of stuff that's posted here anyway.

It's from a party we had last night so I didn't want to use my name directly. Oh and only Justin (apollo xxiii) and Gabe (mjbetch) can see the rest ofthe party since it's on my facebook.

I passed out so I'm really glad my friend brought my 5D and 24-70L back in one piece.

My first couple of pics! Let me know what you think

Any tips to makethem better. Also what are some good lenses for the Xti that are around 200?
