chris don't by that crap .. that lens sucks ....

buy my sigma 30 f1.4 not only is it faster and built better .. but it will kick the living day light out of that lens .. plus look at the IQ - wide open itcompares to the 35L .. but 35L will just walk over the sigma and thats why I bought it .. he he he

that should also answer your question G to the T

If you also want to know future lens .. well near future 135L and 85L

Right now I just sold my 10-22 for 515 and I have the best crop lens 17-55IS f/2.8 which is also for sale a sigma 30 f/1.4 a canon 35 f/1.4L and a canon 24-105f/4 IS L ... had to recap just in case you got lost .. i also had the chepo and good IQ 55-250IS

Damn you got some pretty serious glass. I can't afford any L lenses and a lot of them i find are mainly built for full frame SLR's, i tendto like wider angle zooms and a lot of L's seem to start at 24 and up. Now theres the 17-40 which is a nice lens but in the long end i find that 40 is tooshort. If i buy an L anytime soon it's gonna be a 70-200 zoom, just a matter of will it be the 2.8 or 4.0.

Your sigma lens looks nice but is it as wide as the 35mm? Really all i wanted to buy was the 50mm 1.8 but i saw the 35mm.

I'm not following you .. as wide? you should be asking if the Canon is as wide as the 30mm .. lmao .. the smaller the number the wider the lens is ..

If you are on a Crop the 1.6 factor Will make that lens about 48mm ... and like I said .. its just that much better than the 35mm .. built better .. fastermeaning you can shoot better with less light without having to bump ISO sharper etc .. plus for about 100 - 150 more .. you cant beat it .. I mean how muchdoes the 35mm even cost?

Wll the 17-55IS is just as good as a L and better than some ... problem is built quality .. the reason I didn't buy the 17-40 was simplybecause its a f/4 none IS .. however u can find them for almost half as the 17-55 ... also the reason why the L's start at 24 are because they tent to bebuilt for FF cameras and 24 on a FF camera is like a 17 on a Crop .. I can be totally wrong but I think I'm right .. unless you are planning on buying a FFcamera I'll just buy the best avail lens which is the 17-55 and a good prime and call it a day .. if you are moving to a FF invest in the 17-40L and 24-70or 24-105 lens are just as important if not more than the body that carries them ...

for a more affordable W/A lens I'll look into Tokina 11-16 Tokina 12-24 Sigma 10-20 .. in that order ..

I just got an XSI for my birthday. I've been shooting for about two months now but sometimes I feel like my pictures don't compare to the quality ofpictures on Flickr or other. I photoshop it somewhat but i don't feel like its all that great. Does anyone have any tips for me? like what to shoot at oranything? and do they recommend anything? any help is great. thanks!

Close, a 17 on a crop is about 27 on full frame, just multiply it by 1.6 and you've got your number. Yeah i read the 17-55 2.8 and 10-22 cantechnically be considered L quality glass seeing as how the amount of aspherical elements and UD elements inside both lenses equal to some L's out there.Reason they didn't mark them as L's is because they can only be used on crop sensor cameras. I'm happy with my Tamron 17-50 2.8. Get 2.8 throughthe whole zoom range and picture quality is really nice. Got it at a hell of a price too. Only thing it doesn't have that would be nice is IS butconsidering the 17-55 2.8 IS Canon goes for about a grand, i paid $259 brand new for the Tammy.

Pretty much it's all about practicing. Go out to places you've never been before and just shoot. I've been shooting for a good two years now and noway in hell am i a good photographer by any means. Ask people that have been shooting for over 10 years and they'll still tell you theres stuff theydon't know.

how about posting some pictures then we can go from there .. I only been shooting since Dec ... only 4-5 months now .. I read - look at others picture askquestions and post pictures for CC .. from there I adjust and reshoot!

^ what he said. I shoot with an XSi and I felt the same way when I first started shooting too. I still feel that my pictures pretty much suckwhenever I look at the stuff that gets posted in here but what you need to remember (and as any photographer will say), is that it's all about practice. Ithelps to have a good camera but don't think that the camera makes the photos. You could be running around with a Hasselblad but if you don't know howto use it, the camera doesn't matter. And as for what to shoot, don't worry too much about that if you're first starting out. Just take pictures ofanything that interests you. As time goes on you'll gradually figure out what you prefer to shoot and what you really want nothing to do with. Don'tget discouraged, photography takes time.

yeah forgot to mention take it off the green setting and put it on M .... have full control of your camera ..

This too. I can't remember the last time that I seriously shot with anything other than M. It's amazing.

Posted these pics a few pages back......Would appreciate some C.C...............

HONESTLY........I dont know ANYTHING about photography, i just point and shoot and use the regular settings on the camera i have (Olympus e-500)

I want to get into it more, but i like to use things and learn the settings myself before actually learning the way its ACTUALLY supposed to be done

DONT ASK ME WHY..........but my Brother in law wanted me to test this stitching program on vista.......dude is stilly as hell (he actually had a gun in hishand in the picture to the right, but it got cut off during the process, lol

Hey guys, I'd really appreciate it if anyone was able to answer this question.

For those of you who shoot with manual cameras, what type of film would you recommend? Also, what ISO film would you consider the best too?

Thanks!

^^^That bottom shot is really cool but something about her eyes kind of make her cross eyed. The lighting with that pose (yes cause it shows herbreasts....seriously) make it go really nice btu something about her eyes don't look right and I think that is the meat of the photo. Maybe if her head wasoff of the bed, it would better show her eyes. And I am not eve sure if that is your girl but I think that would have been a real nice nude photo thatdidn't show her nipples (or even photoshopped them off) It would look good in that artistic sense.

There is a very small amount of us that use film so I am not sure if this place to find that answer. I think I was told though that ISO 400 was standard filmto use.

Lol yeah I thought the same about her eyes, but no, she isn't cross eyed. Thanks for the tip though, didn't think about having her headoff the bed.
Nah shes not my girl but I did get other shots that I'll be posting, and some "artistic nudes", which I can't post.

Term PM'ed

BTW, I think #1 is a much better picture and is due to the lighting/conversion/DoF and few other things .. two I'm not fond of because of what Fong stated....
