Yeah, I don't know if all Costco's have this color film processor but I'm sure that's the kinda thing you could either call about orlook up on the internet. Also about scanner make sure it can scan film, you don't necessarily need like dual lens and any fancy %%%$ basically but youcan't just use any scanner because it won't get the depth of the negative or reverse it automatically, it at minium needs some kind of internalreflector, but any scanner that can scan film will say it can and if it doesn't well it probably can't... I would check to see if your schooldoesn't have any scanners that can do film before dropping any guap on one yourself. Because the problem with scanners and printers too for that matter isthey're always going out of date, like any film camera is virtually the same if not better quality even as far back as a few decades ago, but the cost andquality of equipment to digitally scan and also print changes every year.

Need help with my canon rebel xti. I purchased a external flash (canon 430ex) and would like to know if anyone can give me pointers on taking pics inside darkplaces. Wich flash/ setting is best? Thanks in advance

^TTL is your friend. (that's a flash setting, "Thru The Lens" essentially uses the internal light meter to decide how long and sometimes powerfulthe flash should go.)

^photography student/artist. being professional photographer isn't my steez. Philip DiCorcia is my hero not Richard Avedon.

^Generally speaking pretty well. I'm in a group show in a gallery in Wicker Park (that's neighborhood in Chicago) this weekend... I mean if I pursueart photography as my "profession" (as I also study graphic design) I'll probably end up going to grad school as thats usually the most commonroute in getting into the gallery system, but as of right now it's coming along pretty well as far as I'm concerned I know my way around a camera, etc.so...

I also have a 430ex, great for the money. If there are low ceilings in the area you are going to shoot, try bouncing your flash off them for a betterlook. This will allow the room to be better lit (creating a larger light source: flash vs. wall) in the picture. Also experiment with walls to your sides aswell.

I also recommend watching this video. It's pretty long, but the tool he teaches you to make comes in handy. This way, you can light up the room, whilelighting up the faces instead of casting shadows from the light bouncing off the ceiling.

Hey whats up guys?

Just wanted to contribute to this thread.

I'm pretty new to photography so I've just been playing around with them, the majority of my shots have been with slide film for photography class. TheCanon I've yet to try out yet, I didnt by either camera the nikon was a hand me down from my mom and the canon is from her old boss that was convinced itwas broken but I put a new batter in it and it was functioning fine. Im probably not going to keep the Canon though. Does anyone know if the Canon lens isworth anything, it is a Tamron aspherical AF XR the same as this one I believe here. It also has an extra UV filter on it.

Also I've heard you talking about the D40's not being able to use the AF on Nikkor AF lenses like the one on my N6006 & older/film models, howeverit will still fit correct?

Looking at a Canon EOS 1V or elan7 35mm SLR as my first film camera

I like the pictures it takes from what I've seen...and prices are decent on ebay, so it looks like a good look to me

what accessories should i buy? and what are some steps to take with a film camera, like maintenence, settings, film etc ?

Aren't you supposed to be naked when you take this type of shot?

Yeah, it will fit - you just won't be able to use all the features.

That's fine a film camera. For 35mm there's better but there's a lot worse too... As far as accessories if you're going to shoot in lowlight situations maybe a flash but otherwise nothing assuming the internal light meter works in the camera you buy, which it should. Film wise Kodak Tri-X 320or 400 is good B/W for pretty general use. Color film I shoot mostly Kodak 400VC but have number of other Kodak color films I don't particularly like Fujifilm myself but thats just personal preference. I would buy some different types of film and just shoot it and go with what you like.

I can't to add to this thread, I am heading to Thailand in 17 days and I hope to have some great shots for you guys. If there is anything you guys wouldlike to see let me know, I will be there for 2 weeks.

Went to a fantastic exhibition of Ansel Adams photographs today - 150 of them including some of the really famous ones and some of the early ones. There was aninteresting hour long movie about his life and work too. Learned a lot of cool things I didn't know about him and was really blown away with the quality ofhis work - seeing them big and printed as beautifully as he did it.

What really amazed me was watching some movie footage of him climbing in Yosemite. They were having to use ropes to get up to where he took a lot of thepictures - days and days of hiking to get there carrying a huge camera with glass plates and everything. Just incredible.

There was another guy being shown in a little part of the exhibition too. A Scottish guy called Lindsay Robertson. Some of his stuff was incredible - all blackand white and some really big stuff - some American landscapes and some Scottish. They were all pretty big - some 8' x 4' which was impressive.

Anyway, after that I went out and took one photograph. I've been wanting to go back to this bridge near me as I wasn't too happy with the picture Itook in the dark a few weeks ago. This is a little better. The sky was getting a little dark - would have been better an hour or so before.

Nice shot bro. The water looks so calm.

Thanks, it was a really high tide and the water was pretty smooth - and I used f/20 I think and a shutter of around 20s - that really smooths it out.
