Official Photography Thread: Vol. ICan'tFindTheLastOne

Back to the bridges tonight but shooting the other one. Couldn't quite get the angle I wanted but this is okay.

f/22 and 13s or so.

^I take it that's a flash? You ever thought about buying either just a softbox and/or strobe too? Just seems like you're really into artifcial lightingbut it always seems like really hard harsh light. Maybe harsh highlights and shadows is your steez and it works sometimes just seems like softbox would behelpful.

^Just to breifly critique them. I'd say you should let your subject breathe. Other than the 1st column 2nd one down, they all feel way too tight on thesubject. It's like you're bent to this proportion to the point where it affects compositions. If you want tips or a critique on anything particular ormore specific, let me know or just ask.

^Yeah... But I mean theres any number of things all of us could improve on, I suppose. I take it you want me to specifically point things out... I could go onfor a while, but I don't really have time as I shouldn't be on NT right now anyhow.

but nonetheless.

I'll give you my thoughts on the 1st photograph, and it's not so much what should you do differently or whats right or wrong because like the 1st rowin the 2nd column its alittle too dark, that's fact but there are number of choices you made in the 1st photograph I would question, that you may or maynot have good answers for (no need actually answer) and where you don't have answer in the future you should think about that and have one. Like thesubject is clearly the woman in the red coat, why is she cropped at the knees?, why is the asian dude and the few other people behind her in focus? if it'sabout her why not open the lens up even more to blur the rest of the people in the background, or why is she moving out of the frame rather than into it?Generally I would say compostion much like my first comment is your biggest problem, and there is no right or wrong answer to composition but there is stillgood and bad composition...

Also while part of me thinks that's an uncropped porportion I hate that proportion, especially in portrait, lots of those feel like they'd be betterphotographs in landscape...

Well at that time, a lot of people were walking around quickly so it was hard to catch someone in focus w/ nobody in the way. I was also pretty far using a55-200 so I should of zoomed out a bit to get her feet in it. Thanks for the help!

Thanks bro. Don't have my 'book with me so I'm guessing I used f11, 30s for that one. It's the view at night from The Peak in Hong Kong.

@ebay

Not sure how to check the exif in my office laptop bro. Properties doesn't reflect the settings just the dimensions and color representation.

@ me for sleeping on this thread.

I want to buy an SLR, I have a few in mind. Could you guys recommend me some cheaper ones?

I've found that somtimes when you edit a picture in photoshop, the camera settings for the picture can not be recovered.

If you have adobe bridge, you could always view it.
Even after you photoshop it.

At least I able to do so.
So I'm guessing everyone should.

Also I've heard you talking about the D40's not being able to use the AF on Nikkor AF lenses like the one on my N6006 & older/film models, however it will still fit correct?

Yeah, it will fit - you just won't be able to use all the features.

I got the same lamp

Gloomy day.

My choice of drink & snack.

Dope stuff guys.......alot of real just inspirational stuff that I have to sway towards rather then doing the normal crap that I do.

Haven't had any real things to shoot lately but I just moved into SF over the weekend and this is the view on my roof. I made this thing really widethis time. It kind of becomes useless since the picture displayed on screen is only less then 800 pixals. It looks better when it's displayed bigger.I'll have some better content in the coming up days......

I have a question for you NT photographers. How do you get people to model for you? Do you just ask people you know and set up a photoshoot with them or what?
