Official Photography Thread: Vol. ICan'tFindTheLastOne

I went to a casting today for female models for a project I'm a collaborator in. And quite a few cuties, but Jesus, I don't think I've ever in mylife seen so many amateurish head shots. I don't think I saw a single shot in every portfolio I felt looked legitimately professional maybe it's thatone of my boy's set up all the logistics of it. But really I think commercial photography's accessibility is killing it at the same time. I don'tknow that that's constructive to any of you but I had to share that, maybe some inspiration to make some profound/interesting work with your DSLR's,but if you take awful head shots of reasonably attractive women, please stop, you're killing me on the inside.

This isn't a good shot quality-wise but I'd like to post it anyway. This was taken for an a conference called F.A.C.T. (Filipino Americans ComingTogether)...a conference where Filipino organizations from midwestern universities travel to University of Illinois to have workshops on the Filipino culture.Anyway, this year's theme is "I am (whatever you think you are)" and this guy wanted to put "Flip" while actually doing one against awall...

So DSLRs should only be available to those that have the opportunity to study and perfect the art of photography, not for those that enjoy taking nicepictures.

Got it.

i totally understand where you're coming from, ebay. i'm no professional photographer but i have learned a lot from an old instructor ofmine who happened to be a great professional free lance photographer from the work i've seen. recently, my high school's seniors had their portraitstaken by one photo. company whom i wish to keep to myself. anyways, their head shots were so "amateurish" like you previously stated. i was taught toget that special angle (signature of the face = about 45 degree angle where eye brow meets the cheek bone, hides ears).. and every body's senior portraitswere terrible imo with bad angles and everything.. everybody looks like they have a broken neck and it was straight ridiculous.. it seems to me as though thecompany's so-called photographers in my area feel that they are masters of this art just bc they have expensiveDSLR's and a studio w/ lighting equipment... just thought i'd share that as well

hamez3 - how did you get your sensor cleaned? if professionally done, how much did you pay? i've attempted doing so with a blower and my sensor looks cleanbut i'm still getting some tiny spots

kr0mey - dope sunset

twosick - nice pickup

Here is a quick iso test i took once i got my CF card. I would have more shots but i had a problem exporting the 14 bit raws.

Iso: 6400!!

Nice, Do some ISO 6400 samples in low light. I heard the D90 is right up there with the D300 in terms of noise.
