The Official Nike Air Max 90 Thread

But we're not talking about Nike x any collaboration. We're talking about iconic gr sportswear silhouettes that could potentially be filtered into your average consumers repertoire.

I see plenty of non sneakerheads rocking crazy colors, more than I would ever wear. Soccer moms and all types of people at the gym with those wacky color splashed asics. Neon kicks everywhere during the summer. It's not a niche market, its just a market. 80s/90s style is in right now. So the affinity of a model like infrareds could be your commonplace average wear. Especially if it gets exposure at places [like marshalls].

That was my point in an earlier post but that's not the point I was making in this last one. Tons of sneaker heads seem to think they're Nikes target market. That what draws people to the brand is exclusivity and limited releases. I'm saying that's not the case. For the most part exclusivity plays no part in why the average consumer is drawn to Nike, unlike sneakerheads who again are a niche market.

Oh my bad. I apologize. :/

I’m not saying limited/exclusive shoes are the BIGGEST draw to Nike for the average consumer, but I am saying it feeds into the Nike hype machine and feeds a certain demographic which has a trickle-down effect into the eyes of the average consumer. Exclusive shoes are important to Nike’s image. It adds to the feeling of putting on a pair of Nike’s, even if it’s subconsciously.

I do understand what you're saying though in that not everyone is looking to Nike because they have rare shoes, but I disagree with “sneaker heads” being a niche market. Being interested in sneakers isn’t a niche hobby that most people don’t understand. It’s widespread.

How come there 2 diffrent tongue on the air max 90 curry. I seen the Nike check then I just seen 1 with Korean writing on it.

By sneakerhead I mean those who are collectors and involved in the sneaker culture and come to places like Niketalk and scollector, the people that camp out for days to get limited kicks. Not people that just generally buy shoes out of necessity. Like I mentioned before, there's a reason why sketchers surpassed Adidas as second largest holder of the sneaker market. The sneaker enthusiast is definitely a niche market, and a drop in the bucket of nikes bottom line.
