R.I.P Trayvon

I tried to stay out of here but the arguments are beyond belief....
So it's not against the law to follow somebody
So you telling me somebody is following you to your home and you have no idea of their intentions, you are just going to turn around and have a rational discussion with them like an adult
FOH with this non sense...
Yes this is an emotional case because people fail to see a black mans life ain't worth ish
This kid did nothing wrong, he wasnt casing homes, this "boy" was going home to chill and some entitled nitwit took it upon himsel to play a character out of the movie kick-***
Why can't people see this for what it is??
Yes TM parents say this is not racial but they are being politically correct because anytime a person of color says that, instantly we are crying wolf, it's all in our heads and we live in a post racial non sense is spewed...
These people want justice for their child so it's better for them to say this in hopes of an conviction ....
Stop playing devils advocate and fake Perry Masons' because none of your points are logically or hold any substantial meaning because guaranteed some of you have been drinking the kool aid and smashing different ethnicities of chicks got you feeling comfortable in life
Facts:
Kid was just minding his business
GZ is clearly a low life racist prick( next people are going to say the phone call was doctored...smh)
All of this could have and should have been avoided, none of this had to happen just like Oscar Grant and other individuals these past few years
I guess the kid in the car in the parking lot that was shot by a white man for not turning down loud music deserved that too
GZ will walk simply because the justice system does not favor black people
Yeah I said it
They build prisons to keep us in
Destroyed our family structure
Perpetuate stereotypes through bogus media propaganda
And monolithically paint brush all black males as over sexualized, thugged out beast( we don't help or cause by selling our souls for that dead, green white man paper)
Don't give a flying**** about being flamed but this thread truly shows me that no matter what I will always be guilty for being born a proud black man and if I chose to fight the system or move into a nice home I better walk around we my deed, hoa fees and title so I won't be killed by a wanna be community watch captain
Though with this....
And as funny and harsh as this may sound it is truth. The ironic thing about it all is if he (gz) gets all it would be a real slap/dose of reality for black ppl. A serious backhand moment of clarity. And yet do to the current state of affairs, black ppl more or less will be like well things aren't as bad as they use to be. At least we got a,b,c etc...several materialistic opportunities.

Blacks in general have become so complacent, so stand still...and I said this waaaay before the trial. That something of this magnitude would at best get a little e-rage, meaning scathing twitter/facebook post. A couple of disdain remarks on blogs and websites like this...and then as soon as the next headline story or season opener of scandal, real houseohs of anything, love of hip-hop, tyler perry movie...this will be an afterthought and it will be business as usually.

But what I do think will happen if he gets off, ppl in particular whites, purchases of guns will increase. Also a sense of if I have any shadow of doubt that my life, my family life, could be in potential danger...they wont have a second thought or be so hesitant to pull the trigger. Because the fear of legal ramification would be lesser due to this publicized outcome.

Because lets face it, many ppl don't do things because of the morality of it all, or the consciousness of it being bad. Its because they have a fear of the legal repercussions that could/can result in said actions.

"I've never heard of the stand your ground law" ........gets an A in criminal justice class!!!!!!

As someone who has a BS in Criminal Justice, I studied and applied hundreds of different cases, laws, and theories, and remember probably less than 50% of them.

However, if he studied it recently in a class and says "he never heard of it" that's probably b/s.

More importantly, if he has heard of the law, does he know what the law is.

Dont necessarily disagree, but I mentioned earlier. In the State of Florida, once you are approved for a Concealed Weapons permit, they send you pamphlets on the Law. So for him to say he "didnt know" is dumb, dont know why he would deny it.

It'd be more believable for him to not understand it fully than to "never have heard about it."

His testimony is helping the defense right now. Prosecution better clean up some of his answers in the redirect.

Yeah he's walking. Reasonable doubt all over the place.

It is Florida though. They usually do what you don't expect.

Sigh. Yeah there is a good amount of ambiguity here, though they may be able to clear up what he's saying...it's gonna be really tough to get second degree murder here. I think they could've gotten manslaughter no doubt....this damn Stand your ground law is a big impediment

this ain't going good for the State right now...

at all.

the law is so ****** up...  you can start a fight, but if the person you started with kicks your *** you can shoot them?

if the jury believes that, this case is over and George is going back home.

smh.

Soooo if i spit on someone and they punch me in my face I can kill them? in the "great" state of Florida of course

what a joke this is disgusting

Basically... GZ learned exactly how he could legally start something with someone and kill them if he wanted to... and get away with it. He literally just bust out in laughter in court. Whether he gets off or not, it's a tragedy. He should at least respect the family and proceedings. :smh:

His pops is a judge

That's how he got A's in class and don't know what he studied

Gepeto pulling strings for Pinnochio as usual

I'm still trying to understand how can you stradle a person beat'em in the head, face, nose, and mouth all while clutching, reaching, and looking at a gun around they waist telling them to shutup and several other ignorant cliches

If your legs are around their waist how can you possibly get the gun around your waist

That part will mos def get cut out his lifetime blockbuster movie when this is over

smh.

The State hasnt proved that GZ started the fight.

So, the prosecution turned the theory of improper use of force in the sense that a gun shot is more forceful than a punch? I'm confused... smh

This ride along request with the police just proves how much of a wannabe cop Zimmerman wanted to be.

Manti should have kept going and talked more about deadly force...

the Defense basically got out of the witness that if GZ grabbed and or pushed TM and TM ended up beating the **** out of him, then the reaction by TM was excessive to what he received thus turning the tables of self defense in favor of GZ...

on the flip side... a gun shot is a hell of a lot more excessive then being punched .. and the injuries (and treatment there after) to GZ didn't fall in line with a deathly beating so he had no right to shoot him...

why Manti made that point w/o talking about it more is beyond me...

It is a really whacky law. To me it sounds like: if you're in a fight, feel free to one up the other person if you "fear for your life." You're protected by the law.

A: Someone punching you, beat him with a bat
B: Someone beating you with a bat, stab him
C: Someone stabbing you, shoot him

exactly...

BUT

in closing statements the State better make that a key point...  they need to flip that **** back in their favor

This is the section of the Law.

(3) A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.

You guys have to understand that this Law was enacted because criminals were breaking into peoples house, getting beat up, and then suing the home owner.

This could have been avoided is GZ was just minding his own business. Stay in your lane.
