Head Coach Jason Kidd

thing is, I've never really been sold on Fish's knowledge of the game. I've always felt like he got by on hustling.

Kidd knows the game, though, and that's why I've always been a fan of his.

I don't care how many jobs Shaw's turned down.
To skip him and hire someone who just retired 2 weeks ago is ludicrous.
Shaw was more than qualified and experienced enough for THIS position, with THIS roster.

Hopefully Shaw still lands a job with the Clippers. :smh:

How do you know Shaw and the Nets had a mutual feeling?

^ I'm saying.

Where are the headlines "Shaw loses guaranteed job to Kidd"?

As a huge GSW fan IMO Marc Jackson is a motivation leader. But the team's success is largely due to the moves made by the front office and assistant coach Mark Malone. Mark Jackson just had to step in and motivate the guys. Personally, I don't think Mark Jackson is a great coach
This is kind of ridiculous. Your reasoning could be applied to any successful coach with a competent front office and a supporting staff.

I think Kidd will be a good one. Maybe not immediately, because the Nets are stuck in neutral with that roster in that conference as its currently structured...

deron finna get him fired by all star break

thing for kidd, the team is good enough to make the playoffs in the east and he can buy some time.

Fish always struck me as a guy that would go in another direction besides coaching and management.

Like how he works for the NBPA right now. I could see him doing something like that on a bigger scale in future years.

Like him being the next commissioner

He owes mark Jackson part of his salary. Without his success last year I don't think the nets take the risk

I'm surprised he went straight to head coach, not even an assistant or anything.

Has this ever happened before?

Shaw will get the last laugh when he gets a coaching gig.

Why are you guys crying over Shaw?

He wants the Clipper job.

If he was as passionate about the Nets job as Kidd was, he'd have a much better shot of winning this position. Shaw's been turning down teams - don't act like he's desperate for a job.

How are y'all so confident dude won't last a season?

Sounds like Mark Jackson all over again.

J Kidd did some of y'all favorite teams dirty...smh.

EDIT:
**** it. I deleted my rant about the Shaw situation, no one cares... :smh:

He'll probably be a better fit for the Clippers, hopefully he gets it.

Congrats to Kidd. (i dont mean that, but whatever).

Are there any coach-player relationships similar to D Will & J Kidd. Dudes are practically best friends

"ESPN REPORTS BRIAN SHAW IS BROOKLYN NETS TOP CHOICE FOR HEAD COACH SEARCH"

Exactly. Nothing about Shaw's interest. Was there any headlines about that?

"ESPN REPORTS BRIAN SHAW IS BROOKLYN NETS TOP CHOICE FOR HEAD COACH SEARCH"

Nothing about how they have locked on him, made an offer, talked hoops for a few hours, made a tentative agreement? Nothing?

"ESPN REPORTS BRIAN SHAW IS BROOKLYN NETS TOP CHOICE FOR HEAD COACH SEARCH TOTAL BULLCRAP... A LOT"

I was iffy about this signing but it's growing on me. Head coaching isn't for everyone but plenty of guys have done it without coaching experience - notably Doc Rivers and Mark Jackson.

Kidd was a leader for the championship Mavs and this most recent Knick teams - two teams that embraced that change in the league with small ball (or stretch 4s), ball movement, pick and rolls, and unselfishness. That's promising. When Avery Johnson took a hold of the Mavs and forced his isolation style, Kidd hated it. That's promising. Kidd helped Carmelo Anthony and JR Smith play unselfish and smart basketball this year! That's promising. When Kidd's age didn't let him play like a star, he quickly understood his limitations and adjusted due to his basketball IQ.

He mentored Deron when they played in the Olympics together and they have a great relationship.

All the players respect Kidd and might respect him more because he's played with them before. If we hire smart assistants like Lawrence Frank and Alvin Gentry (rumored assistants so far) - there's no doubt in my mind he can help lead this team. Kidd was always the definition of a smart basketball player, of hustle, of grit and toughness on both ends of the court. I'd prefer Shaw but I'm happy with this signing.

Also - after seeing Avery Johnson and PJ Carlisimo for this long - ANYTHING is an upgrade.
