It depends on what they could have done with the roster after they signed Dwight. They kind of just reconstructed the Finals team from a couple years ago with Calderon, Monta and Dalembert as their new Kidd, Terry and Chandler. The pieces all fit together really well and I don't think you need a dominant center next to Dirk, you just need a guy to get rebounds and block shots. The only thing now is they still don't have that guy to build around after Dirk retires.

In a sense, The Mavs are better without Dwight, He would take up too much cap room. They can get more pieces to their team with the money they would've gave Dwight. It's not like the Mavs are stacked and just need a big men to contend. They need more pieces to make a run...

no, just no.

Well the Mavs signed Monta, Calderon, and Dalembert for what the cost of Dwight Howard was. Maybe even Devin too.

If you had Dirk+Dwight+Matrix, that's already 52 million. Not counting roster spot holds, Jae Crowder, Larkin, or Vince Carter, we would have very little working room.

We currently have nine guys under roster (Larkin, Mekel, Calderon, Monta, Vince, Jae, Matrix, Dirk, Dally). Devin and Wright seem like inevitabilities. Maybe Oden too. That's twelve men. With still room to add another wing player.

Don't get me wrong, I would've rather had Dwight. But. Dallas is trying to put together a team. It could fall on its face like it has the last two years. But they realized waiting for a superstar wasn't going to work.

Not really seeing where you're going with that. Monta is better than Terry ever was, Dalembert does the same things Chandler does and Calderon is a great passer like Kidd and a way better shooter but a worse defender. They're gonna have basically the same roles.

nelly has the sports knowledge of lil wayne
Him saying nobody wants to play with kobe cause they know the blame will never go on him and he'll never give up that top spot on the Lakers is 100% correct and is why nobody wants to play with him

You still think Monta is better than Steph or nah?

I think Steph has improved and is up there with Monta. I DAMN SURE don't think Steph is better though. Everyone sees this year's success of the Warriors and acts like it's "all steph" as if we didn't get HUGE contributions from Jack ,Landry, and our rookie phenom Barnes. If you watch Warrior games, it DAMN sure wasn't Steph that was leading the 4th quarter come backs but yet he'll get ALL the credit. Don't get me wrong, steph improved his game for sure and had an amazing year but everyone wants to diss Monta as if he wasn't playing with freaking BIEDRINS as his starting center and had a pre linsanity as one of the key backups. The depth of the warriors this year was way better than ANYTHING monta has ever seen as "the man" on the team.
MY GOD. This CAN NOT be serious. No way. Regardless of supporting pieces, coaching, or any other factor you bring in Steph Curry is better right now than Monta Ellis ever was, and I'm a fan of Monta.

Yeah I'm obviously in support of Monta but the only way he helps your team is by giving you an explosive scoring threat. Curry is that plus makes everyone around him better. Takes some questionable shots but if anybody in the world right now should have a green light to shoot whenever they want it's him.

My man Paul George said he would play for the Lakers next to kobe.
I have said it time and time again that monta gets buckets. Dude played next to jennings and still put up a decent state line. Him with the Mavs will be good plus cuban treats his players well. So i believe monta will do fine in the d.

 19 a game on 41% shooting is decent...I guess.

Why is Kobe's owner saying he can possibly play preseason? I wish Kobe's doctor will pull a reverse Arod/Yankee owner and tell the Lakers owner to Shut the **&$ up about Kobe's rehab.

this is why i hate cari champion. you're a moderator, shut your damn mouth and let them talk. no one cares about your love for the lakers.

but to the actual arguments, i do partly agree with nelly. i feel like dwight just left because he didn't want to be around kobe, and i don't think there is anything wrong with that. playing with kobe= playing at your local gym and hustling/playing defense and on offense one guy is clearly trying to get his and only his. you're expected to put in all the hard work so he can get his shots.
"Just look at the facts over the last whatever, decade and a half, nobody has won more championships than I have and you can't be a selfish player or individual player and win that many championships, it just can't work." - Kobe
