WHO THE F expects Kobe to win with Lamar and 17 year old Bynum? I'm even surprised he got the Lakers to the playoffs two str8 years.

Kobe was putting up 35 at night, Melo doesn't compare to him, plus Melo's team is so much better.
So they were up 3-1 because of kobe but they loss 3 straight because of the other dudes? Okay you got it
kobe carried that team all season including the playoffs, we're talking about a 2v7 seed here. the suns were a way better team

If only a handfull of players can do what you do on the offensive end does that make you overrated?
lol exactly. this same guy called him great, and a possible top ten player, then in the same sentence claims hes overated and big dog/toine hybrid. huh?? I dont remember any of those guys being mentioned as top 10 players at anytime in their careers.
Melo is not being mentioned as a top 10 player of all time by anybody.

those numbers mean something?

i dont see why Melo even gets into the HOF
College national championship, Two time Olympian it's the basketball Hof not the Nba
That's not enough to guarantee him a spot in the HOF. There are seven players who have won Olympic Gold, NCAA championships and NBA championship(s)

Quinn Buckner ,Olympic Champion: 1976, NCAA Champion: 1976 (Indiana Univ), NBA Champion: 1984 (Celtics)
Magic Johnson, Olympic Champion: 1992, NCAA Champion: 1979 (Michigan State Univ), NBA Champion: 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987-88 (Lakers)
K. C. Jones, Olympic Champion: 1956, NCAA Champion: 1955-56 (Univ of San Francisco), NBA Champion: 1959-66 (Celtics)
Michael Jordan, Olympic Champion: 1984, 1992, NCAA Champion: 1982 (Univ of North Carolina), NBA Champion: 1991-93, 1996-98 ( Bulls)
Clyde Lovelette, Olympic Champion: 1952, NCAA Champion: 1952 (Univ of Kansas), NBA Champion: 1954 (Minneapolis Lakers), 1963-64 (Celtics)
Jerry Lucas, Olympic Champion: 1960, NCAA Champion: 1960 (The Ohio State University), NBA Champion: 1973 (Knicks)
Bill Russell, Olympic Champion: 1956, NCAA Champion: 1955-56 (Univ of San Francisco), NBA Champion: 1957, 1959-66, 1968-69 ( Celtics)

Because a bunch of you guys overrate him, thinking he is on the level of KD or Bron. He is TOP 10 at best, but I would have around 11-18 tbh. Just because he is a very good scorer, doesn't make him a great as many claim.

and his game/style isn't winning basketball.

he is a great player, but very overrated.

i ain't even going to argue wit you Melo fan boys anymore dude is Shimmy Walker meets Glen Robinson with the ESPN hype behind him
If only a handfull of players can do what you do on the offensive end does that make you overrated?

if you're worse than almost all players on the defensive end it does
He's worse than almost all players on the defensive end? I admit, he's nowhere near an elite defender, but come on.

Your reading comprehension man lol. Top 10 players playing in the NBA today. Clear enough for you?
maybe its your writing comprehension...

We lost because of TIM THOMAS!

Shout out to the big homie Tim :pimp: #PATERSON

Game 6 was epic!

So many clown statements. So so many. I'm out

I had to step back. These comments were getting ridiculous.

Dude's so hung up on an absolutely ridiculous Melo/LeBron comparison that I haven't even heard once.

you've never heard Melo be compared to Lebron?  Never?
Maybe a few years ago because they've been tied to one another since '03, but now that's just ridiculous. And if I did hear that comparison now I'd back out of whatever conversation I'm in.

can we please get Melo outta here

The 2013 NBA  playoffs resumed on Saturday, as the Indiana Pacers dismantled the New York Knicks by a score of 82-71. As a result of its victory, Indiana pulls ahead in the Eastern Conference Semifinals series by a count of 2-1.

During Game 3 specifically, Pacers star Paul George exposed the limitations of 'Melo-ball.

Before we proceed, it's important that we explain just what the term "'Melo-ball" means. This is not just speaking of a heavy reliance, but how the Knicks defer toCarmelo Anthony  for their offensive output.

It's all about isolation basketball.

Per Synergy Sports, 27.7 percent of Anthony's possessions have resulted in isolation attempts. Another 20.6 percent led to post-ups, and 14.8 percent resulted in spot-up jump shots.

That accumulates to 63.1 percent of his touches resulting in some form of individual offense.

Clearly, this worked out well enough for Anthony to win the scoring title and the Knicks to finish second in the Eastern Conference. When it comes right down to it, however, New York's reliance upon 'Melo's individual abilities has proven detrimental at times.

Paul George has exposed that during this series.

At the end of the day, George's length and athleticism have been the ultimate X-factor in this series.

Paul Pierce before the big 3 is a good comparison. He reached another level in his last 5 years in Boston though. Can Melo grow in the same way?

If Melo gets an All Word Point, A Hall of fame 2, and a hall of fame 5 then sure I think he can grow in the same fashion.

So Paul George is a better number one option than Carmelo? Really? He's Rudy Gay with more plays drawn for him? Wow man, Wow. I swear some of y'all..

This was cool to see.

Do you guys think the Knicks will trade Melo? I mean there is a good chance he might leave NY. Knicks did give up half of their team for him to the Nuggets.

Only if a deal presents itself where the Knicks get young talent and/or picks would I be cool with it. Otherwise let him walk. I'd rather rebuild through free agency or the draft (in 2040 when we finally have a first round pick).

That's in the event that we absolutely know he's leaving when he hits free agency.

With all of the rumors connecting Jennings to the Lakers earlier, I'm kind of surprised they didn't even try to get him. Or maybe it was the Nobody Likes a Snake shirt he wore a couple summers back.

Even if Carmelo is just a scorer in real life, he should get an award for being best player in NBA 2K. He is the GOD of that game.

Using Reggie's logic...

Bruce Bowen is the GOAT
pimp.gif
false.

Using my logic Scottie Pippen is better than Melo because of his contributions away from the ball.

But I would want Melo as my number one option over Scottie, doesnt make him close to the better player

At the end of the day you need a reliable #2 to win a title, 2011 mavs was a cinderella story the whole team played beyond their potential, lol nobody wouldve thought they would sweep the defending champs on phils last year

Here's the thing about these pictures: They aren't relevant to this discussion.

If we're talking about all time players who we would take, then Yeah I see the point. But this whole thing started with why Melo isn't a number one option. (Which he is, a great one at that.)

The point still stands that as of right now, Melo as a number one option is better than Kobe, and Duncan. Hell, Duncan is a #2 option right now which is partly why the Spurs are so great. If you're measuring the success rate of these players the last couple of years, then there's no way Kobe is a better number one option than Melo. Same for Duncan who's playing with a hall of fame PG. Dirk too.
