Gordon Hayward is better than Paul George, though.

Anyway, I guess next season will be the year everyone starts to say George "sucks". Expectations for this guy is way too high. People are going to be very upset when he puts up similar numbers as last season.

 exactly my point.

Wait...what do people expect Paul George to be next year? And at his peak in his career?...

Jesus ******g Christ.

I'm sure you have some eloquent response to this and i'm sure you know what i'm about to post but numbers don't lie.

1 Luol Deng 2012-13 27 75 75 38.7 6.2 14.6 .426 1.0 3.1 .322 3.1 3.8 .816 2.2 4.2 6.3 3.0 1.1 0.4 1.9 1.4 16.5
2 Paul George 2012-13 22 79 79 37.6 6.2 14.9 .419 2.2 5.9 .362 2.8 3.5 .807 1.1 6.5 7.6 4.1 1.8 0.6 2.9 2.9 17.4
3 Eric Gordon 2012-13 24 42 40 30.1 5.6 13.9 .402 1.3 4.1 .324 4.5 5.3 .842 0.2 1.6 1.8 3.3 1.1 0.2 2.8 1.8 17.0
4 Andre Iguodala 2012-13 29 80 80 34.7 5.0 11.0 .451 1.1 3.6 .317 1.9 3.4 .574 1.0 4.3 5.3 5.4 1.7 0.7 2.6 1.6 13.0
5 O.J. Mayo 2012-13 25 82 82 35.5 5.6 12.5 .449 1.7 4.3 .407 2.3 2.8 .820 0.4 3.1 3.5 4.4 1.1 0.3 2.6 2.4 15.3
6 J.R. Smith 2012-13 27 80 0 33.5 6.6 15.6 .422 1.9 5.5 .356 3.0 3.9 .762 0.8 4.5 5.3 2.7 1.3 0.3 1.7 2.8 18.1

This doesn't say that Paul George isn't better than these guys, but rather how much closer he is to this group of players than a Carmelo Anthony and why him being mentioned as a superstar or a bonafide first option is outlandish to me.

exactly my point.

Wait...what do people expect Paul George to be next year? And at his peak in his career?...
They expect him to avg 25 11 and 7 and lead Indiana as the first option to the ECF again. Theyre going to be sorely dissapointed. PG is my man, but like you said..let shorty develop. I honestly see him as a 18-21ppg 7rpg & 4apg guy with great defense, and slightly better efficiency at the peak of his career. The kind of guy to make like 2 or 3 more 3rd team ALL NBA teams and 3 more all star appearances.

What's really so different about Paul George and Josh smith besides shot selection/better jumper? We all know how maligned Jsmoove is on here. I think he's underapreciated for the things he does brings to the table.

is there anyway to see how effective josh smith was at the 3 compared to the 4?
Josh Smith BODIED Paul George in the post during the playoffs.  If he played the 3, but played like that all the time, he could be a top 10 player.

It was embarassing to watch the Pacers defense try to defend Josh Smith in the post, he was too big and strong for George, and way too quick for West.

Iguodala seems like a good comparison for PG, not sure what the fuss is there....comparisons are rarely EXACTLY alike anyway.

Those other guys are hot or cold spark plug types so I definitely wouldn't put him in that category ...besides Deng.

The PG hype train has definitely ran away hopefully it doesn't hit a wall because if it does it'll be brutal.

the front court defense and rebounding of the pistons will be good enough to be competitive every game. they'll lose most if not all of their games on the offensive end

just because they have similar numbers does not mean they are all one and the same

I'm not saying that they are  my point was that to compare him to Melo is ridiculous and that he's closer to those guys than Melo. That's it. If you believe he's closer to Melo than those guys then...I mean...That's you
