So they say, but what have we heard? Next to nothing. Either this is the most discreet front office in the league or they arent doing anything at all right now. I just think that being proactive about this thing early on is best for the team. The longer they wait, the less opportunities they will have to get players. I'm not even that mad about the Splitter signing, he was a huge reason we made it to the finals and hopefully he learns from it but we desperately need another 2 guard that can handle the ball. I would love to see Jack there but hes going to be expensive, maybe Jeff Teague or something.

In a perfect world I would want either Monta for cheap or Nate Robinson.

2 years 14 mill for Manu? I wanted less than that but I'll take it.

The Spurs couldve spend the money they used on Manu to get another difference maker.

Manu was supposed to come back on the deep hometown discount

Manu is still the butt of jokes here, so I don't think even his biggest fans that are knowledgeable wouldve been super disappointed if he didn't come back

The Spurs as they are now will not win the championship next season\

I hate to say that too

Where is New York getting this money...
They had his Early Bird Rights.

They only have they mini-MLE valued at $3.1 million and the veteran's minimum to sign players now. And the mini-MLE will have to be used to re-sign Prigioni and Copeland since they don't have their Bird Rights.

I agree that he should have taken way less money than what hes getting from us. 3-5 Mill max, but hey loyalty runs deep I guess. I would have put that down on the table and if he walks he walks. I wouldnt go that far, the rest of the team will continue to get better and that will overshadow Manus shortcomings. Kawhi is starting to put the ball on the floor so hopefully he gets confident enough to take it out of Manus hand. I would love to still see us go after one of the guys I mentioned earlier, I mean the Bulls are out there offering the minimum to Nate Robinson, I'm sure we can do a little bit more than that and bring him to us.

Wow the Knicks. They lucked out, he could have definitely gotten more elsewhere. JR Smith and Kyle Korver are making the same amount of money. Year of the shooter.

The spurs still have pieces they can move right? Blair, Mills, De colo, baynes, neal, tmac and joseph. I mean who knows maybe Pop feels comfortable with playing a lot of the younger guys next season and then finding one or two of them to trust in the playoffs even more.

tmac?

chu talkin bout willis?

back to china or the local ymca he goes

Royce White isn't on the Rockets summer league roster. (Nick de la Torre / Chronicle)

As the Rockets head to Orlando, Fla., for the start of summer league, the name most conspicuous is the one missing from the roster.

After not playing in an NBA game in his rookie season, Royce White will not play or practice with the summer-league team, either. Less certain is whether he will ever appear on a Rockets roster again.

The Rockets have had talks about trading White, a person with knowledge of the conversations said. It was not clear whether he was not part of the summer-league team because of the chances he could be moved before next season.

If the Rockets trade White without bringing back salary, they could open cap space to keep more of their roster from last season without worrying that signing Dwight Howard as a free agent would take up most of their remaining available cap space. White is scheduled to earn $1.72 million next season.

The Rockets, who made their pitch to Howard on Sunday, are waiting on his decision, which could come as early as Friday.

If the Rockets sign Howard, they are expected to shift from an emphasis on high-upside – if high-risk – prospects such as White to the pursuit of more predictable veterans.

The Rockets would not expect to receive much for White after getting the rights to two players selected in the second round and two second-round picks for Thomas Robinson, the fifth player taken in the 2012 draft. The extra picks, however, could help facilitate a deal in which a team with cap room agrees to take on White to pick up other assets.

Because the second season of White’s contract is guaranteed, he would count against the Rockets’ cap whether he remains on the roster or they release him. The team has until next season to pick up an option on the third year of his contract, a step that can be considered extremely unlikely before he has played in an NBA game. If the Rockets don’t take that step and he plays well enough next season to show promise, he then would be a free agent.

White, the 16th pick in 2012, said via Twitter he was not asked to play with the Rockets’ summer-league team.

“I would’ve loved to play in the summer league,” White wrote. “There’s been no communication to me about being wanted there.”

White added that communication with the Rockets has gone through the NBA Players Association for several months, calling it a “delicate situation.”

“Everyone’s doing the best they can,” White wrote.

Rockets officials would not comment.

White last practiced with the Rockets on Nov. 10 and then played 16 games with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers but did not appear in any of the team’s six playoff games. He has not been a part of the workouts at Toyota Center that have involved many of last season’s other rookies.

Donatas Motiejunas took three days off after the season before returning for workouts. He has since returned to Lithuania to play for his national team. Terrence Jones, Patrick Beverley and Tim Ohlbrecht have been regulars at Toyota Center.

FLIP DON'T!

Not saying you can move tmac but that spot becomes available to make in house moves. Do they have any international players coming in.

i think the best possible scenario for royce is to DIE

aint nobody want to deal with a complicated snatch like him

aint nobody gonna trade for him

make that ***** sign a job application at best buy

I'd give him tree fiddy to sign with the Knicks. Play home games. Then he can get to bk,Bos,Philly,DC on train. Other games sit at home. If we make a deep playoff run we drug him and drag him on the plane.

Easy peezy

are the clippers the only contending team trying to make themsleves better this year?

the rest of the impact free agents are going to irrelevant teams. what a strange draft/offseason. wigging/parker cant be that hyped for so many teams to tank.
