DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - Chapter ONE: Gods & Monsters

All I remember about The Dark Knight series was Batman. It kinda was like Bruce was an afterthought in those films.

You don't member all those talks he had with Alfred? Those were some of the best moments of the films.

This... Michael Caine was an absolutely amazing Alfred... whomever said Irons is going to be the best Alfred a few pages back most be high on Joker's laughing gas... Outside of Ledger, Caine was the true star of the 3 movies...

word. dude was solid in every film

Look, I don't think that Nolan's Bat films were perfect, but let's not get carried away here, Batman Begins is arguably the best Batman/super origin film to date. And Bale had to carry that movie w/o the cape and cowl for the first 1+ hour.

If anything, Bale's Bruce has been the best thus far, while Keaton's Bats' was the most menacing (a lot of which is due to Burton). Could Snyder's interpretation w/ Affleck be the best live action Bruce/Batman ever? Possibly, but let's pump the brakes until the film comes out.

Time to listen DoubleToasted.com's analysis of the trailer, should be a hoot.

Caine was very good, but IMO, Gary Oldman was the standout of the three films. Ever since reading Year One way back when, I've loved the James Gordon character, and Oldman knocked it out of the park.

And I do have to admit, I really like the Earth One-looking Alfred in BvS. Jeremy Irons looks like he could put on the cape and cowl and fight crime himself.

Oh I remember Caine talking but they were almost like monologues cuz I don't remember a thing Bale said to add to the debate/convo/argument.

Wow. Nah b. Batman Begins is Captain America First Avenger status. That did not get me hyped for future Batman films by Nolan. It was just solid.

I'll take Iron Man as far as origins go. I'm more satisfied with SM1 if we keep it strictly about origins.

Exactly.

Bale portrayed Bruce very well. He was fake and phony around the rich, then around Alfred and Rachel his real self came out.

He understood subtle.

First Avenger status?!

Wow :smh.

I concur with Oldman being a standout in all of the films.

I felt his Bruce was hollow and lifeless throughout.

The difference you're talking about wasn't seen by me. When it came to scenes with Rachel and Alfred it felt really by the #s acting.
First Avenger status?!

Wow :smh.
I never and still don't understand some of the love I see by fans for Begins. Even when I put aside the expected revisionist history hype caused by TDK.

It was always just a solid Bat flick to me. Not amongst the best. I expected so much more from Nolan and that cast.

Great. NT has now entered the era of belittling TDK trilogy as just 3 average films. :smh:

We're only a few weeks away from Ledger was meh, Oldman was so so, Freeman was worthless, Bale was terrible, Caine was misused, and Nolan is the new Wachowski brothers post Matrix 1. :rolleyes

Well people had problems with tdkr so that film could probably be seen as average or a letdown.

Why are you surprised? NT is fickle as Hell.

Tdkr is still better than the avengers. With avengers, if it wasn't an action scene it was a snooze fest. "Put on the suit!! Put on the suit!!" :x

Only film I'm so so on is the dark knight rises.. Could have easily been some much better

Only mistakes in the 1st two films to me.. Killing off ras (as we discussed before) and casting that frog as Rachel for TDK
