DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - Chapter ONE: Gods & Monsters

i liked Lex
hes a completley different vharacter

i liked Wonder Womans Music. crowd seemed to enjoy it too.

main thing i hated was the pacing. seemed like nothin important happened for the first hour

MOS had much more action

i never understood the Amy Adams hate UNTIL.....a scene wgere theres a closeup of Wonder Woman then goes to a closeup of Lois......man WW looked SO FINE...Lois looked HIRRIBLE lol

Now that you guys are talking about the final fight. I realize the trinity never really talked strategy. No 'here you do this,' 'I'll get the spear', etc.

Each of them was just really doing their own thing.
where's captain america to make sense of all this?

I have my own movie thread to worry about, bro.  Why slander the dc's battle strategies when we can slander Tony

come to think of it, the court room scene is this zach snider in a nutshell

just when characters are about to get into an intelligent conversation about the overall themes of the superman character, everything blows up and everyone dies
This is so spot on. Then you are left scratching your head about what blowing up the room was supposed to accomplish. When you could have deleted the scene like that out of the movie and it would have probably made the movie better, you have some pretty big problems.

It is almost as if they were like, I don't feel like putting in the effort to write a dialogue of intelligent conversation so let's just blow everyone up and show Superman moping around with a sad face.
like how the human race reacts and deals with superman was supposed to be a major theme in this movie

it was a great opportunity to dig into the deeper themes of the superman character and provide social commentary

but instead we just get a few TV interview clips, superman never really has a conversation with anyone not named lois the entire movie, and lots of things blow up.

i really don't get it, they dont even have the excuse that this is a kids movie because it clearly isnt.

oh and in the movie they set up a world where for some reason people blame superman for the deaths of people in africa who were killed by bullets (????) and a court room blowing up (???) neither of which are superman's powers. yet, somehow everyone forgives him and doesnt hold him accountable at all when a giant monster with all the exact same powers as superman shows up and destroys half the city???????
roll.gif

the core dynamic between the general public and superman was if he was to blame for the zod fight. during the movie they skim through all meaningful dialogue in favour of scenes where people get killed then somehow this arc is resolved by superman fighting an even bigger, more destructive version of zod who also does major damage to the city.

Random ?

Why doesn't Superman

a) throw the kryptonight spear, like you know...how spears were invented to operate.

b) give the kryptonight spear to someone who isn't allergic to it. Like the amazonian princess and probable spear expert Wonder Woman?

Because he was playing hero ball & therefore turned the ball over in the final seconds of the NCAA Championship. His draft status plummeted :smh:

Even with no range from deep his slashing and attacking potential is outstanding. Top 3 for sure.

Wait what? is that directed to me? so my post asking why are people being so hostile that others didn't like the film comes off as hostile? huh?

I don't see myself or others as being hostile

I quoted something RFX said months ago for a laugh and got "pull up skirts" and "calm yourselves" :rolleyes

Relax b, it's jokes

Yeah because i was talking specifically to you.

That Snyder comment is about as spot on as you can get.

I was waiting for some dope dialogue all movie, considering the moral dilemma they decided to tackle with this story. Never really got it.

The funny and sad part about all this is Snyder's DGAF reaction to all of this negativity.

He's just outchea cashing massive WB checks. He's DC's own Michael Bay = SnyderBay (except Bay can actually tell a coherent story)

Saw this last night. It was cool but i HATED Eisenberg as Lex. Nearly everything i hated bout the movie was related to him in someway. Like Doomsday creation & first look mainly. They made Lex more crazy than smart too and by the looks of it he aint gon be anymore sane in the next movie smh
Did they ever mention what happen to Lex Sr? Dead? Alive?

And did the movie leave anyone else wondering what happen to the old Wayne Manor?
there's a throwaway line when he's talking to the senator in his house about losing his dad

probably zach snider thinking "we're not going to need lex luthor anyways, it would be funny if all he gets in the DCU is a throw away line"

Just saw it, will go through this thread to read opinions and reviews later.

I will say that Eisenberg wasn't bad but they essentially made Luthor into TDK Joker-lite and I couldn't take him seriously most of the movie.

Maybe she was preoccupied using her lasso trying to hold Doomsday down so he could be speared?

Don't be fooled by the massive opening weekend, that's expected given the 200 mill advertising budget.

lets see the drop off. because bad buzz has to put a dent into this thing. right?

if there is a big enough drop off maybe WB gets Snyder out tha paint?

The film needs to make roughly $900M worldwide if it’s going to break-even theatrically off its estimated $400M production and P&A cost.

yeah

lets see whait and see before we call this a financial success.

Possibly, but it looks like they gave him the keys already.

I don't know any possible replacements.

International markets are critic proof. If China likes this, it might still make a billion lol.

I do think there'll be a drop off domestically. But it might hardly matter.

Could be 2016's Transformers 3.

Probably not. It's still Batman and Superman. Bad buzz would likely hurt the sequel of Snyder directs but this isn't like fantastic four which moviegoers don't particularly care about. This is Batman and Superman.

Plus there's nothing really coming out for a while so it'll be the go to movie to see for a while

Also China don't care bout critics. It's already doing good there

its such a dark, depressing movie though. I know lots of people who would watch starwars over and over because it was a great time at the movies, i just dont see that happening with this movie.
