The beginning of the scene was good, when they were riding alongside him as he ran...........but then it got corny when they started circling around him lol

Yeah that was really corny lol. I couldn't even front man. I just started laughing out loud in the theatre when that happened. Cringe worthy scene

They just dragged it out a lil bit too long. I was sitting there like " ok that's enough"

Glad I wasn't the only one rolling my eyes at the end of that scene.
The thing I love about this movie is it pushes the franchise forward in a completely different way. It feels so much like the same story, but so different at same time. I'm glad Sly gave Coogler a chance. It had to have took a lot for him to basically hand over one of the most recognizable franchises to a 29 year old director with such a different perspective on the story. I'm glad he did. I'm sure he's glad he did too.
All in all, great movie.
I was listening to The Watch Podcast and they said something that I couldn't get out of my head. Why is PTI just on in the background at Phylicia Rashad's house while the maids clean up? Does she just leave ESPN on as background noise or what?

I literally just finished watching this movie for the first time and that scene def wasn't corny... until they stopped in front of gym. It felt kind of drawnout but I understood the parallel between rocky & those steps (they visited at the end of the movie) and MJB with the atv/bikes. that was MJBs "money shot" for the training montage. that is how i perceived it.

I give the movie a 8/10...
but the scumbag in me wanted to see tone retaliate later in the film and I thought that is what was going to happen when MJB was sitting in front of the gym and the lil homie said "i heard u creed son"
