Watch The Throne Turns Two on August 8th

The tour >>> the album

Fell mad short of expectations and was boring as ****

Probably the most mediocre & underwhelming album ever put out by 2 top artists. "The Joy" still stays in rotation, and the album booklet is nice though. And the singles were nice in the clubs.

For real. Garbage album, mostly thanks to Kanye. "HAAAAAH???" is probably one of the most annoying adlibs of all time, and dude kept saying that @#$% on every track regardless of how serious it was. He should've left the rapping to Jay

while songs like "lift off", "welcome to the jungle", "made in america" "thats my *****" still dont get any play.

This is absolutely a personal classic for me. Still remember the feeling i got when i first heard the intro to no church in the wild

It's a great album still, Lift Off and That's My B included, Only Made in America might get skipped

How did it push hip-hop forward though?

Musically? Lyrically?

I only ask because I'm not seeing it. Dudes have been rapping over non-traditional beats for years (Del, Kool Keith, etc.). Granted, they don't have the reach that Kanye and Jay do, but the point is that what was done on WTT wasn't anything new or groundbreaking in the music world. And lyrically it was par for the course--Jay was Jay which is a good thing. And Kanye was Kanye, except he sounded out of his league when matched up against Jay on every track.

Going in a different direction doesn't always mean that the movement is forward. I think that applies to WTT.

Add to that, the WTT tour was great!!

I will never forget that concert ever. It was so good that I actually threw the audio that someone recorded from the Charlotte show on my ipod, poor quality and all. The live version of Who Gon Stop Me :x

For a Jay and Ye collab I think the album did not live up to its expectations.
still not a bad album tho.
Illest mfkr alive was :smokin

Album is still lowkey frisbee status. Murder to Excellence should have been the standard for this collaboration not the standout.

really enjoyed it when it dropped & still throw it on & vibe out to it :nthat:

i can play the whole album straight through, but new day, gotta have it, murder to excellence, illest ************ alive, primetime, & the joy :x :pimp: :pimp:

especially new day... i think that was ye's best verse in a long time just because of the straight up honesty in it. no gimmicks, no publicity, nothing extra, just the honesty of what he's went through. loved the honesty in hov's verse as well.

WTT tour was amazing too... one of the best shows i've been to :smokin

the live version of runaway with the extended outro :wow: :pimp:
