I think it's cause of the chip difference. Same reason hey Siri doesn't work on the 6 unless hooked to power.

About a month or two after the 6+ dropped I copped a authentic leather case for about $30

I'm such a sucker for these cases. Won an auction for an open box but new midnight blue leather case for 17 bux. Gettin it next week I'll let you guys know if its authentic or not.
