YG- My Crazy Life March 18

but i can't help wonder what it would have sounded like without the gkmc influence.
this album sounds nothing like GKMC this albums has a G-FUNK appeal to it GKMC didn't have that type of sound..I'm kinda feeling this album tho no trap beats its refreshing to hear an artist going back to the G-FUNK type sound much respect to YG...

I don't see how YG could've made a better album. That is to be taken as a compliment.

This joint bangs. (No pun intended?)

i meant structure and concept wise.

Didn't expect much from thought he couldn't rap..like at all.

Pleasantly surprised, pretty good album from front to back. I like how he put some effort n have the songs kinda flow together. Still don't like "My Hitta" as a single but I'll save the politics.

Saying its better than GKMC is hilarious, but IMO it's better than Q's album tho.

Album surprised me. It's better than I anticipated...side note maybe it's because I'm from the south, but bangin seems so lame to me.

Him and Nipsey need to do a tape together.

And that _ Jay Rock's verse :x Son is like the new MC Ren.
QFT I can't wait till Jay Rock drop his album. He has been eating every feature he jumps on.

Just out of curiosity, I've seen a lot of people slurping Jay Rock over the last few months. I don't remember seeing a lot of love for his last album, Follow Me Home. Is he "next" or something? That was TDEs first big release too.

^Follow Me Home was a very good album, but lyrically, Jay Rock has noticeably stepped it up starting with those cyphers and Kendrick Lamar's album.

dude has stepped his bars WAAAAAAY up. I think all the talk about him being the weak link on TDE got to him. Now I put him over Ab, when at one point it was no question.

Like someone said above me he has been SLAYING features, even before 'Money Trees.' His verse on Black Lip Bastard remix (or pt. 2 or whatever) was BONKERS. Ever since then he been taking no prisoners. NONE. Can't WAIT for the album. WOOOOOOOOOOOO

I base my opinions of musicians off how they react to nardwaur. Therefore I mess with yg. All his songs I have heard so far are good. I'll support dude.

This album is fire to me. The only two songs I dont like are Do it to Ya and Me and my _______. Rap songs about being in love with women man, 90 percent of the time theyre bad and these two songs fit the bill. Plus I dont think anyone wants to hear YG talk about those things, I know I dont. I want to hear this guy talk about gunplay, murder, money, and being in a gang to be blunt.

I Just Wanna Party, Bickin Back Being Bool, Who Do You Love, 1 AM, Bompton, When I Was Gone, and Really Be are the standout tracks

This i my first introduction to YG, I think this album is dope, great west coast vibe, very solid work.

Sorry Momma could not have been placed in a better spot on this album, great song as a whole.

Those two songs are on a lot of people's list as their favorites. Great production and fit in to his story. You really hate R&B :smh:

Really? I need to backtrack this thread and see that because that is really shocking.

I wont say I hate R&B, but its not one of my favourites and R&B elements rarely transition to rap well.

**** makes no sense. Dude thinks Drake is the only rapper that can talk about females.

Not even, the list of rappers that can make a girl song that sounds good and doesnt feel contrived is very short: Drake, Jay Z, Fabolous, and KanYe are ones that I thought of off the top of my head, but honestly most of the time rap songs about women just feel totally out of place on the album. The song creates this huge dramatic shift in the feel of the album that just feels wrong, and never sounds good. Its all done as a result of attempting to be more marketable the majority of the time too which makes it even worse. You think Rick Ross really wants to make songs about spoling women and put them on his albums? Nah man nah.

I kid you not, on most rap albums I listen to, the song(s) about women are auto skips. Those two YG songs are autoskips.

But the two cuts on this album didn't sound forced. It was on some true story **** that occurs everyday. No simp type raps at all. Fit in perfect with the album.

I would disagree. They really messed up the mood of the album for me. All of the previous tracks set a tone that was completely changed once those songs came on. It was awkward. They may not be forced, but to me they were a bad fit and just not good tracks overall, which again, most rap songs about being in love with women/things that fall under the umbrella of being romantic are.

Do you not like women dawg?

You don't think rappers should make songs about females? They can't be thuggin 24/7.
