What do you guys think of this as a gaming television ?
I can't seem to find any specs online
You should also check to see if that tv lags. I dont think those cheap brands are as bad as people say they are. My mom got a dynxe as a door buster a few years ago at best buy and it still works fine.

That's what I just said. Dynex is the best ever. I'm currently watching TV on my beautiful dynex. The picture quality never went down. Even after using it it heavily these past four years.

Element TV's tend to have ****** picture quality. What I've noticed though is that no matter what TV you get, the gaming always looks better than movies and all of that.

Insignia is good brand too and pretty cheap. I have a 42" plasma in my room. I herd they are made by samsung?

They use Samsung panels and some parts I believe. Samsung and Sony both sell their lower end panels to smaller manufacturers. Dynex and Insignia are Best buy's house brands.

It has been reported that Samsung and other TV manufacturers get around ROHS (Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment) by selling their inferior parts to other companies. In short, rather than take a loss getting rid of the material, they re-sell it and make some money off it. Now this doesnt necessarily mean that the parts were faulty, just that that failed to reach some standard set by the manufacturer or, in the ROHS case, the EU. That is why buying lower-end electronics is always a crap shoot.

At the end of the day, I think you get what you pay for. I have a Dynex I use for a travel (21 inch) and its great. I think both brands are a great alternative to higher priced models.

If you are investing in a system like the X1 at launch, you are probably someone who values a state of the art experience. I think you cheat yourself a bit by cheaping out on the TV. In my opinion, itd be best to just wait a bit, save some dough, and look at one of the higher end brands. If you are spending $300 on a tv that is questionable, why not wait a month or two, save up a couple hundred more and go for a better model.

I wonder if the day ones were cancelled pre-orders. I got this email this morning about my pre-order:

"Hello,

We're contacting you about pre-order # for Xbox One Console - Day One Edition.

Before your order ships, please make sure your payment and shipping information is correct:

1. Go to https://amazon.com/openorders.
2. Find your order and check the expiration date on your payment method.
3. If your payment method expires before November 2013, click "Change Payment Method" on the right side of the order summary.
4. Either update the expiration date of the existing payment method and click "Retry payment method," or select a different payment method or enter a new credit card.
5. Verify the billing address and shipping address. If necessary, update either by clicking "Change" next to the address you wish to update, then select an existing address option, or click "Add US Address" or "Add International Address."

I got the same email yesterday but I think these are just the extra consoles microsoft promised that retailers that did preorders would get.  All the best buys and targets around me have confirmed they have extra consoles outside of what they were initially expecting.
Reading XBO, not having optical out a big no no, sorry about your expensive last gen gaming headsets

could be anything. I would imagine they would sell the excess inventory at midnight like they did with the PS4s last week. only dem Amazonians know

Jeff on the Giant Bombcast is saying (according to the GAF BC thread) that the XB1 never tells you if it doesn't have enough space to download a new game (and since you can't check storage info, you'll never know). So instead it just deletes your oldest unplayed game to make room, keeping the "pin" on the dash but requiring you to redownload/reinstall if you want to play.
(Microsoft tells me there is currently no way to measure controller battery levels through the system, but that such a feature will be coming in a future update).
Are they letting you swap the HDD to a bigger one?

Both of these systems are mad bare at launch. But look back at the 360 and PS3's feature set at launch compared to now. Looks like two different systems. Can't wait to see what's added down the line :smokin

dang... so I wont know when my batteries are about to die? and its a pain in the butt to swap batteries now?

not so happy. never planned on having my XB1 control my whole entertainment system. ive seen Terminator. I know the end result

There are two distinct ways the Kinect fails, and the first feels inexcusable. Many of the voice commands are extremely rigid, to the point where you need to memorize a list of exact phrases to be able to use them reliably. If you want to go to an app, for instance, you need to start by saying "Xbox go to." But if you want to go to Bing, that structure doesn't work. The correct command is "Xbox Bing," because Microsoft expects you to unquestionably understand and accept that "Bing" should be a verb. If "Xbox on" turns on the console, why doesn't "Xbox off" turn it off? Because "Xbox turn off" is the proper command, and you’ll need to memorize it. If you’re a Redbox Instant subscriber, get used to calling it "Redbox Instant by Verizon," because the Kinect won’t accept anything less. There are dozens more examples like these.

The last 2 points are valid and need a fix but the first is ridiculous, how can you expect to have a device that is always listening for commands and isn't actuated by a button press not to have rigid commands. It would be looking for direction on what to do from every single word you'd say.

Same dudes that'll complain about the xbox one not outputting 7.1 audio are the same dudes that buy $100 turtle beach headsets(Quite possibly the worst headsets on the market) or complain about 720p vs 1080p while playing the console on $200 insignia and dynex tvs.

Both consoles are here now, whatever shortcomings they have are what we have no choice but to deal with until there are software changes and hardware revisions. Whining about what could have been or should have been is pointless. Buy what you like or buy nothing at all.

No can't swap it... external only way to expand there is talk that it may be a hybrid drive that's why you can't swap but just rumors at this point
I was joking.

ain't no hybrid drive in no xb1.

best believe m$ just made another silly enclousure so ppl are forced to buy their overpriced hdds.

Also the xb1 doesn't support external hdds right now.
