2014 NFL Draft Thread

Have to agree wirh 100027 this will not catapult him a round. Look at Kerry Rhodes one of the top tier safety's for the last 6 years and can't find a Job because teams know its a huge distraction. It's naive to think otherwise.

Honestly, I support Sam but this is a valid point:

"That will break a tie against that player," he said. "Every time. Unless he's Superman. Why? Not that they're against gay people. It's more that some players are going to look at you upside down. Every Tom, **** and Harry in the media is going to show up, from Good Housekeeping to the Today Show. A general manager is going to ask, 'Why are we going to do that to ourselves?'"
A lot of teams won't want to deal with the media frenzy.

However, I'm sure someone could have the same thing about blacks being allowed in baseball, or in white colleges. Progress must be made

This is a bigger story than some think.

We've all been desensitized to people coming out of the closet and the whole gay agenda in the media, but this is still professional football.

It has never happened before and it is probably the most close-minded sport/culture out there.

Whoever said this will help his draft stock is completely delusional.

If Kerry Rhodes (a proven commodity) has been basically blackballed, good luck to this young man.

Was waiting for a comparison with the struggles blacks went through

What he said made complete sense.  Don't know what you're fishing for.

the jets are gonna take him , i know it.

rex is gonna turn him into the hardest hittin, **** talkin, qb poundin rookie of the year .... who happens to like men :rolleyes

You wouldn't even think he's gay by just listening to his interviews...but I did watch one video where I noticed he was rocking a rainbow colored bracelet.

I do think his numbers are a little inflated and he's going to be more of a special teams player in the NFL. He doesn't really have a position at the next level. Undersized and not an elite athlete.

Last month, New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma expressed reservations about having an openly gay teammate. “I think he would not be accepted as much as we think he would be accepted,” he said in an NFL Network interview with Andrea Kremer. “I don’t want people to just naturally assume, oh, we’re all homophobic. That’s really not the case. Imagine if he’s the guy next to me, and you know, I get dressed, naked, taking a shower, the whole nine, and it just so happens he looks at me, how am I supposed to respond?”

Still funny to hear people thinking that every homosexual person is checking them out

Vilma has a valid point though. The notion of another teammate being homosexual will have people feeling a bit awkward come shower time.

Yea this is definitely how people will be thinking especially in NFL locker rooms. Can't say that when I was in high school and college, I probably would be saying the same thing.

Hell I still find it awkward how men all change in the one big room at water parks and when the men do it at the gym and stuff

Bro it's like the older you get the more comfortable you are being naked in front of other men hahaha. When I used to go the gym as a young buck and hoop the old guys from the pool would literally be having conversations butt naked in the showers.

Yea man, that is the stuff that trips me out. If there are no other places to go, then I will find a spot on the benches in there and change out real quick and dip, but for the most part I still find it weird, lol. Also brings to mind that part in Hall Pass when he falls asleep in the Jacuzzi and those 2 guys pull him out

Sounds like a casual day in San Francisco.

But back to the actual thread topic....

I hope the Bucs get a good pass rusher to go on the outside.

As long as McCoy keeps improving, and with a legit DE pass rusher, it will let Foster and David be more effective. Will also help with the pass coverage not having to be out there as long either.

buc em buc em what you think about our WR/TE group? Of course VJax is a beast, but we need Williams to stay healthy and we still have to come along with Underwood, but he showed flashes of being a pretty decent WR for us. The TE group with Wright and Crabtree seemed ok, but I would like to have that "stretch the field game changing" TE that a lot teams have.

Of course a couple OL picks to sure it up since we can never have too many big guys on the team.

One thing he has on his side I am guessing is the 11.5 sacks, 19 tackles for loss, and SEC DPOY achievements. Especially since some consider it the "best conference" in college football.

Question...will his stock drop still if he goes out there and runs a 4.5 40 yard dash, 32" vert, and benches like 20+ reps of 225?
