2014 NFL Draft Thread

The more I think about it that Peter Warrick/Lee comparison is on point.

It really isn't, though.

P Dub was my dude, but he was never 1/2 the receiver Marqise is. He was a better rusher and returner.

Peter was strictly a slot who relied on jukes after the catch for the most part. Qise can play outside and in. He also plays much bigger than his size.

Man we just gonna have to agree to disagree because i don't think Lee will be able to play to the outside in the league

Can y'all at least wait til Lee's pro day to make a solid judgement on the guy?

And I think he's a definite 1st rounder, 2nd or 3rd WR taken.

Rich Eisen vs. Dri Archer.

Rich Eisen is too much.  Like, there's too much Rich Eisen.

His podcast is literally 1 hr of his sycophants complimenting him and asking him questions about himself that are wholly unrelated to football.  With the occasional celebrity guest for him to suck up to.

After the combine I'm pretty happy with what may fall to the Giants, assuming that the 3 QBs get taken (Bortles,Bridgewater, and Johnny) I'd be happy with the the pass-rushers (Clowney, Mack, and Barr) O-line(Robinson, and Matthews), Pass catchers (Watkins,Evans, and Ebron), or the DBs(Gilbert,Denard). And there's the possibility that another QB could sneak in like Derek Carr, or someone else :smokin. A tad bit worried about Denard though he looked a little stiff today.

Why would the giants be interested in Mack or Barr?

Assume you guys would be more interested in the 4-3 DEs.. Inclusive of DTs.. So Donald, Jernigan, ealy or ford

Also Mosley could be attractive to y'all

Peter Warrick was electric in college too.

He's the last WR drafted in the first round in the last 20 years shorter than 6 ft tall that ran less than 4.5.

I repeat I'm not saying Lee will be a bum I'm saying he ain't going 1st round.

 K

Placing way too much emphasis on 40 time. Running fast in a straight line has no bearing on a WR's ability to get in and out of cuts and create separation.

Combine numbers can be misleading, but game film doesn't lie. Don't know if he'll be a #1 WR but to suggest he's not a 1st rounder is just asinine.

Usually people who overvalue or undervalue players based on measurables and combine #'s are those that haven't actually watched the player play. :nerd:

Jaws just said he wouldn't take Manziel in the first 3 rounds.

Jaws loved him some Kellen Clemens and Matt Moore tho.

Look man a WR with his phyiscal characteristics hasn't went in the first without a crazy 40 since Peter Warrick.

We can talk about game film and what not all day it just doesn't happen in the first round often.

Outside of Peter Warrick when has a sub 6'0 WR went in the first without a sub 4.5 40?

We can talk about game film all day but NFL GM's just haven't been spending 1sts on 5'11 WRs coming off injury plagued season that didn't blow up the combine.

Whether Lee deserves to be a 1st rounder or whether he's Jerry Rice reincarnated is a totally different debate.

^it factors in.. But it obviously isn't the end all be all

If a guy relies on his speed to create separation and ends up running like a 4.6-8, well then you need to go back and review the tape

Or if a corner struggles with speed guys or with recovering if he bites on a double move.. And goes to the combine and runs 4.3-4.40, then again.. Gotta go back and review the tape

Same with the dline and the bench press and seeing how guys hold up at the point of attack.. Or oline guys in run blocking and dealing with the bull rush.. Then literally quickness

Like anything else it's a resource

Most important thing is the medicals and getting true measurements on guys

Use them as a strong side OLB. Could kill two birds with one stone, in boosting our LBs corp and pass rush. Would be happy with Donald and so-so on Mosley.

^ if those guys are there, the giants best bet would be to trade down and get extra picks... Sure you could play them at SAM but I don't think you'll be using either to their strengths..

Plus you can get some like KVN in the 2nd who would be a great SAM

Such a deep wr class.

I see it going something like this...
1st rounders:
1st tier: Sammy
2nd tier: Benjamin/Evans
3rd tier: Lee/Cooks

I think those 5 will all be taken in the 1st round.
Landry, OBJ, Robinson, Matthews, Moncrief should all be taken in the top 50 picks
Evans, Benjamin & Mocrief just have that size & speed.
