I'm one of the people who felt like they could've threw money at another top tier GM as well, but I don't think them giving Jackson that amount is THAT crazy. You have to consider how much value he brings to the table without even factoring his future transactions. Bringing in Phil alone has brought a lot more excitement back to the franchise alone. Considering he is a mastermind with handling ego's and getting players on the same page, I think he can do some good things. If he does well, it worked out financially and winning wise. If he doesn't do well, it still worked out financially for the franchise itself.

Hell, the Knicks giving Phil all that money is much better than the Nets going after Jason Kidd as the head coach to make a splash

Considering they all come off the book next year it shouldn't be that hard.
