Whenever you're a transcendent talent who leads your team to 50 plus wins multiple times, and are the main reason your team is a serious contender for a title, you are a superstar. Point blank. Period.

KD and CP3 are Superstars. That is, they are some of the greatest players ever and are consistently putting their teams in position to win it all. Just because they don't win it all doesn't mean they are not superstars. Putting your team in a fantastic position to win it all, man there's something to be said about that. When you are an elite level historical talent, that makes you superstar easily. You can't just look at the results and come to the conclusion that one is or is not a superstar.

It's 2014, y'all gotta stop using rings to validate one's individual brilliance (or lack thereof) as a player

What?

I guess man. If thats how you feel.

It's not how I feel, it's true.

Unless you know, you don't care about efficiency or shooting percentage, then sure Kobe scoring more PPG was more impressive but it really isn't.

awwsome awwsome WOW I'm speechless. You won buddy. Love the built in subpar coach excuse too.

It ain't built in, Brooks sucks, it's been talked about in this thread ad nausuem.

It's far from an excuse, more of a testament that great players > system when it comes to the NBA.

When you get a marriage of both like Phil/Kobe/Pau/Bynum/Odom you get those rings.

kobe (or anyone pre 2012) was not working hard to pad his efficiency and shooting percentage stats though

when has kobe, tmac or jordan ever said "wait, im 6/10? im going to dribble it out and not take the half court shot at the end of the half"

the pitching to the score argument?

That dumb **** only works on players who people never watched.

“It depends on what I’m shooting from the field. First quarter if I’m 4-for-4, I let it go. Third quarter if I’m like 10-for-16, or 10-for-17, I might let it go. But if I’m like 8-for-19, I’m going to go ahead and dribble one more second and let that buzzer go off and then throw it up there. So it depends on how the game’s going.”

What.

Part of this.

Is FALSE?

Please someone tell me.

KD has NEVER had an elite big w/ an elite coach and an elite swingman. Has he? Saying he's never had those things, is that false?

Kobe didn't win again until he had those things. Again, is that a false statement?

Get your laughs in first if you must, but once you're ready to actually tear awwsome's response apart, please do so.

Curious Ska is curious what part of his reply right there... is false.

:pimp:

Ska knows and he's a Laker fan.

It shows no matter if you're a fan of a team you can still be objective and realistic.

A lot of y'all got them nostalgia blinders on, I get it because Kobe is Kobe but lets be real.

This era of celebrating and elevating players because of points over championships is just wild to me. When did it become cooler to be a great loser? I'm sorry but if your that great of a talent you have to win point blank. There are players who can shoot, dunk, pass better than Jordan but what makes him the greatest...I'll wait

The post season play of Blake / DJ is more vital to the clippers success then Paul.

I agree with this, but it doesn't detract from CP's value. Its more that you know what you're going to get from Paul, so the other guys become the x-factor. Particularly because one of the team's big weaknesses is giving up too many offensive rebounds. The burden falls on DJ and Blake to clean that up. If they don't, the Clippers aren't winning this series.

OMG

he was labeled as a flashy scorer that would never win anything until he won something

Yeah but see the thing is...

Whoever said that about Jordan pre 91' was a flat out idiot honestly. He was already an historical level talent getting it done in the regular season and postseason by then.

I guess Jordan wasn't a "Superstar" until '91

And a superstar.

I haz rememory of it.
well as we have all seen everyone has a different definition of superstar.

what im trying to say is whatever label you want to put on a player, winning a championship as a top tier player is always going to put that player on another level
