Only reason why his defensive numbers are down is because he coasted. Anybody who watched 70% of miami heat games this season could tell you that. He's still a game changer on the defensive end when he wants to be.

Exactly, anybody who thinks Bron isn't a good defender only based off this season has short memory.

He had to save as much energy as he could hence the coasting, not like he was Harden/Curry/Melo level though.

I don't blame for coasting this year especially when there were certain points where he had to carry the offense.

When it was games against PG, KD, etc... He would turn it on

You would think Rondo would create some open looks for Harden rather than him just shooting off iso ball every time, right?

Harden does his best work off the dribble though, I barely see him score off the ball even when he's playing with Lin and Bev.

Assuming they get bounced this round, I'm not sure what I'd do if I was the Rockets front office. I'd probably just try to upgrade at the PG and PF positions (and possibly coach), but I'd have some concerns about Harden and Howard as the franchise cornerstones. IMO, its not a good look when a team's two best players don't seem to be particularly mentally tough or good leaders. Maybe the right coach could fix it, but I can't think who that might be. Pop and Phil Jackson already have jobs.

Should have made a move for Rondo? So when Howard needs a breather or gets into foul trouble, will Rondo or Brandon Bass be taking his place?

That's all you needed to say, and what everyone's been saying throughout the season.

Mchale is and will continue to be the issue, only thing I've ever really heard dude say is "Let's push it guys, push the tempo, we gotta get easy buckets."

He uses other words and phrases but it always comes back to that, how a team has Dwight Howard but still allows teams to do numbers on them every single night is a complete joke.

Yupp after 3 straight title runs & having to carry Miami again for another season/title run I couldn't blame him at all.

As much as I like Rondo you guys realize his teams haven't had an above average offense since '09? Having a PG that can shoot is crucial to having a good offense.

You know what would make Harden and the Rockets a contender?...me either
A premier scorer.

Like KD.

Harden should have NEVER left, tbh. No way a starting 5 including him and Russy and KD fails to bring it home. No way.

It crazy how you forget a player like Marvin Williams is still in the league.

Fixing Houston: Sign Top10 Chalmers & McBoB, move Beverly & T.Jones to the bench. Explore trades for Lin/Asik/Parsons, sign another Big man & 3pt shooter.

Hire Mark Jackson

Shrugs

Thabo starts bruh
harden would play more minutes and be a huge upgrade over thabo though

manu was a perfect 6th man (started some times too) for the spurs

we are seeing what happens when the poor mans manu tries to lead a team

Oh there's a way. It's called Harden playing like he did in th 2012 Finals and how he's playing again now
Touche.

I understand wanting to upgrade the PF position on the surface, but Terrence Jones has been pretty good this season.

He's just ran up on against the worst possible match up for him.

It's funny, because when he left, Manu was exactly who I used as an example.

Someone go gravedig it.

But yeah, Manu's the perfect parallel. Manu as a 6th man on the Spurs (or Heat, or Thunder, or any title-ready team)? Championships. Manu leading... the Bobcats? Pistons? Anyone? Even a midlevel team? Epic fail.

Oklahoma City, but dat contract. Granted the cap is projected to move up 5million next season and we just had new Tulsa billionaire buy in, I still don't know if we'll ever go over the luxury tax. Presti says eventually, but I'm not believin'

:LOL the hyperbole in this thread is amazing

Weren't people crowning Paul George as the next great thing last year in the playoffs until LeBron abused him?

Harden is a number one option and has been all year. He's not playing well, and I don't know what's wrong with him. A lot of this falls on McHale too though.
