NY can offer Melo the most money. If they give him a max offer, he'll look around and do the free agency tour, but if he doesn't take the most money I'm shocked. That's the whole reason he came to NY the way he did, so he could get more money.
They said they don't want him falling in love with it, which is a fair concern because too many big guys do fall in love with the jumper, but it also goes back to a lot of the talking heads (and fans like NTers) failing to understand not every big man has to get 100% of their points in the post with their back to the basket. Yes.. we all loved the 90s and the big men, but it's not the end of the world if a PF or C has a jump shot too.
It's also the nature of commentary and criticism.. if they finally do what you expected, you still need something to talk about. See NT for example.. "All Blake does is dunk". Then Blake puts on a display of jump shots, post moves, and a variety of ways to score and it becomes "Well it's just one game" Selective memory to the fullest extent
I think my favorite thing said tonight was Shaq talking about Dwight again how "He's more of an athlete than I ever was"... which just proves Shaq has no memory of his playing days. We already knew he would randomly make up stats and/or when things happened, but he really acts like he wasn't one of the most physically dominant specimens in NBA history.
I literally laughed when shaq said that. He's acting like he was Brad miller or something lol. He really still hates Dwight.
I really wish people would watch games and look at stats, Instead of just listening to the talking heads, who just eat wings and nachos during the game....And comment on highlights that underdog found.

Good call on Shaq and Dwight. Shaq's brand of athleticism was something I've never seen and might never see again on an NBA court. Better than Dwight's huge shoulders and skinny *** legs.

I agree I think he will stay but the Knicks will have to build a stronger supporting team around him if they want to contend

This is what I was saying last week. Shaq is great and is gradually becoming a mainstay on the show. People need to stop hating
Him and Charles talk over each other a lot, but last night with Chuck out we got to see Shaq flourishing a little bit

In his athletic prime, Shaq could do anything Dwight can do, but at 4 inches taller and 80-90 pounds heavier. Plus, Shaq was more coordinated and less robotic with his offensive game.

I'm sorry but I don't think there's any chance in hell Melo stays with the Knicks. Him and Shump are the only tradeable assets for the Knicks, and what they need to do is rebuild. Melo would help that jumpstart that cause more than anybody. The Knicks are going to keep being a bad team until All Star break and all you're going to hear about is Melo privately looking around at other teams.
