That's my list.
All them dudes you crossed out are better options than the inefficient and inconsistent gay. All of the guys to crossed out understand their roles which goes a long way
So you are saying that if Rudy Gay switched places with those guys that he would A) make the team worse and B) not understand his role?

Its funny, no one ever called Gay inconsistent or inefficient prior to this year.

^Because people have been blinded by reputation, he has been garbage/ since his shoulder injury, and he was overrated before it anyways.

this is NT, players are either worse than putting a trashcan out there to play with 4 other players or about to pass lebron for best player in the L

Huh? He was inconsistent and inefficient during his last days in Memphis. A lot of folks said his departure from Memphis wouldn't sting and they did just fine without him. I'm not sure where you're getting that from

Rudy doesn't make teammates better, doesn't play elite defense, doesn't have exceptional IQ. His strength, which is scoring, is a double edged sword because of how inconsistent he is.

If he's being paid like a third option id say that's fair. Other than that I wouldn't want him

this. rudy gay being paid like he has made a couple all star appearances, all-nba teams, etc.

i'd throw in ak47 over gay. heck, paul pierce at his advanced age is probably better.

Don't even like Rudy but I hope he puts up 20 a game on 45% shooting just to troll y'all

Hell would probably freeze over though

The rudy hate is crazy, half of those dudes wouldnt even be the #1 option on toronto

Rudy Gay was only the #1 option because he shot every time he touched the ball.  Most coaches would have benched him weeks ago.

What is it worth to be a horrible #1 option on a bad team?

You can call it hate but some people would prefer not to have a guy shooting below 40%, doesn't play elite defense, doesn't make his teammates better, doesn't have the elite IQ, on their team instead of a more consistent option. Again, if gay was paid to be your third best player, I'd call it fair. Other than that

Rudy being a guy that gets off shots, doesnt mean a role player can't be better than him. He's pretty inefficient considering the amount of touches he gets. I'm not even a stat nerd, but look up a lot of those guys that are listed's PER rating.

I'll take an efficient role player or combination of them...over a guy that has to jack all game. there are some jackers in that list too, but Rudy's one of the more jacking type guys. pause.

Good Grantland article today on this very subject:  http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-t...dy-gay-trade-means-for-toronto-and-sacramento

Some choice quotes.

"The current version of Gay is basically a harmful player. He used 30 percent of Toronto’s possessions with a shot, turnover, or drawn foul — a gargantuan usage rate reserved for the league’s biggest scoring stars. He’s also shooting 38.8 percent for the season. That is a historically rare combination of shot chucking and brick laying. Only three players in league history  have used more than 30 percent of their team’s possessions while shooting below 40 percent: Jerry Stackhouse, Baron Davis, and Allen Iverson (twice). This is irresponsible offensive play. Those other guys could at least point to heaps of free throws or solid assist numbers. Gay can point to neither, in part because he has never been an intuitive passer who can read the floor at NBA speed.

But a player who hijacks an offense this way mostly does harm. A lot of Toronto’s offensive possessions look fine for the first 10 or 12 seconds of the shot clock — until the ball ends up in Gay’s hands at the elbow area. Too many possessions devolve from there into a useless pile of slow-moving jab steps, sideways dribbles, pump fakes, and other “full of sound/signifying nothing” nonsense until the merciful 15-foot miss. Gay by all accounts has better intentions than this — plans to cut off the ball, pass more, and act more decisively with the rock. He just hasn’t been able to execute those plans or come close to doing so."

He goes on to say that they contacted almost every team in the league who needed a wing player, and everyone other than Sacramento refused to even consider trading for Rudy.

seems like the kings just traded for the poor mans john salmons
It's reactions like these that aren't constructive at all. Nobody is saying gay is a dumpster just saying he isn't a top player at his position. Just because you can score doesn't necessarily mean anything. He doesn't do much else

I'm so glad people are seeing the light in regards to Rudy Gay.

It took long enough.

Is my dude Jimmer going to finally see some playing time with this trade?
Sadly no, I think this will be Ray McCallum's emancipation.... not Jimmer's

Seriously, I want to see Jimmer thrive and I'm pretty sure the front office and coaching staff have already decided they are going to give Jimmer his shine here.... so hopefully he gets moved sooner rather than later
I really wish he'd get more opportunities. The few times I've gotten to see him play it seems like he always provides a spark if he gets a chance. I remember last year against the Bucks we were up 14-16 points with 3 minutes to go. They finally put him in cause the game was essentially lost. He single handedly almost won them the game. He came in and hit a 3, hit a few jumpers, and had an and 1. Then with a few seconds to go down 3 w/ no time outs he ran full court and they fouled him, because he's Jimmer, before he could hoist a 3. Even after the foul he shot a 3 anyway and made it. Then he made the free throw and missed the second on purpose perfectly as it came right back to him and then Monta got away with fouling him. He put up like 11 points in 3 minutes and almost won them the game.

Then I check the box score for next game and he didn't even play

. I don't get it, is he that much of a liability on defense? Cause offensively he's a good enough ball handler to not make mistakes and has shown he can create.
