but as of october 24th (25th for you east coasters) 2013, lebron has 2 championships

so lets chill with the top 5 all time talk
wink.gif
Doesn't matter. He has passed Stockton, Malone, and Barkley and Pippen

if you want to be regarded as a top 5/top 10 player you cant just look at peak you have to look at what they have done as a whole. i think lebron will be top 5 when he retires but as of now, with two championships, he's not there yet. if he were to never win another title then he would not be top 5.

and peak wilt is the most overrated player in sports, how can you be top 5 all time when you only led your team to one championship while having the same guy beat you in the playoffs every year

Championships are a team achievement, stop ranking athletes purely off of rings, lebron is a better basketball player than all of them dudes not named mj

i didn't say Lebron deserved to be in the top 5 because his peak is stronger than Kareem/Magic/Bird. I know that having more rings than the next man makes you higher on the all time list (even doe i don't believe having more ring = better player).

I was speaking on terms of his basketball abilities and what he showed already...and with that case Lebron James has shown me he is a top 5 basketball talent of all time. Same goes for Shaq, his career might not be better than Wilt or Kareem but his peak is the G.O.A.T. and he is also a top 5 basketball talent of all time.

lol u guys are jokes...if u don't think Lebron is top 5 talent wise....career ain't ova and u oldheads getting so butt hurt it's funny.

talent wise i have in no order

jordan, bron, shaq, wilt, kareem

but having talent doesn't mean that much to me, its what you do with your talent

I'm a Heat fan.

And as of right now it's hard for me to put Bron in the top 5 of ALL TIME. But as many others have mentioned.. with him being what, 29? And the pace he's going at, and the fact that he manages to improve every year still.. he has a good opportunity to end up in the top 5. I think if we 3 peat this year it'll help a lot.

Lebron ain't do anything with his talents? People trying to discredit everything.
never said that, but guys like jordan kareem magic bird ect have done more with their talents which is why i put them ahead of him. lebron has not let me down at all in terms of what he's done with his talent. how is it discrediting lebron to not put him above top 5 status legends when his career isnt even half over?

its getting better but it aint elite yet

Course not. But every year it's developed

First year he started doing it is was more just him catching it in the post.
Last year he was actually starting to back defenders down.. had a couple of moves. Spin hooks, lefty hooks, etc.
This year from what I've seen in the pre-season he's added a little bit of counter moves and his fadeaway is getting better as well.

He gets better every year. If he improves his post game and perimeter shooting he'll only extend his career and give him more opportunities to eclipse other legends. Still think he'll need to have more than 2 rings though unfortunately.

hmm....i think i can make an agrument over Lebron doing more with his talents than at least 2 of the players you just named.

And I like i wrote earlier, I not talking about career achievements when I wrote Lebron James was in my top 5, I'm talking about his talents/skills/dominance/peak/prime all that (what we have seen already)...you can't tell me with a straight face Bill Russell is better than Shaq Diesel simply because he's got more rings or cause his career achievements look better on his wiki page.

i would say the lakers/celtics gm is happer that he drafted magic/bird than the cavs gm is for drafting lebron
Yea because they also didnt have to wait 8 years to have great teammates
at the end of the day if im starting a team the goal is to win titles, its proven that drafting bird/magic resulted in 4/5 titles respectively. so far, lebron only has given me two

i wonder how Lebron career would look if he was drafted by a great basketball organization.

lol with this logic, you are going to pick Pippen ahead of Lebron James too?

nah, pippen is not the same tier player as bron. there is no one saying that pip belongs in the top 10, but when you do get to that magic/bird/kareem/mj/bron/kobe/duncan ect level they are all so great that its hard to pick them apart. for me the most important factor/tiebreaker is titles since its what everyone plays for and is regarded as the most important achievement in all these player's careers.
