Stat of the night courtesy of ESPN - Kevin Durant is averaging 36.9 points this month. That would be tied for the 2nd-highest scoring average in the month of January dating back to the ABA-NBA merger in 1976-77. Only Kobe Bryant posted a higher average at 43.4 PPG back in 2006. In case you're wondering --- Wilt Chamberlain holds the all-time mark. He averaged 51.8 points per game in January, 1962.

We sucked as team but that was fun to watch. Kobe was dropping 40 in his sleep.

I don't know the lakers record for that month, but KD has carried this thunder team without Westbrook all the way to the number one seed in the WC.. Pretty impressive

^Lakers were 9-4 I believe in Jan. 2006 with Kobe playing.

lakers went 9-6 in january that year but kobe was suspended for two of the losses so the team went 9-4 with him playing

those Lakers teams had zero shooters to take pressure off of Kobe
it was basically Kobe going 1 on 5 all the time

Ibaka hitting open 15 footers vs kwame fumbling passes under the basket, not to mention ibaka's defense craps all over kwame
Walton doing nothing vs Thabo hitting 3s and playing defense
Smush vs reggie :x

Odom was good but he could not make up for a lack of overall talent or lack of bench and he did not exactly help spread the floor either

kobe not worrying about making his teammates better because he knew they were getting shipped out asap
