i'm not a fan of Monroe at the 5

Bingo.

If Monroe never learns to shoot his ceiling drops considerably,

If he can shoot, you can play him at the 4 and your have gigantic PF, who can score and finish over 4's and best 5's off the dribble, facilitate from the elbows ala Pau Gasol in Memphis,

If he CAN'T shoot? Well you have to play him at the 5, where you have NO rim protection, and he will struggle to finish over bigger 5's, it will be tough to have a league average defense let alone a top 7 (what you need to win a chip)

About 30 million dollars is riding on whether or not Greg Monroe can shoot.

If he does... He Becomes A Nightmare :smh:

His shooting gets better each year. He will be shooting Bosh-like by next season.

^ No his shooting actually regressed from every spot on the court, this is why Detroit is hesitating to sign him.

Bosh is the best non Nowitski mid range guy in the league FYI.

Monroe went from 36% on 16-23 to 30%

Monroe is only 23...he hasn't even come close to hitting his ceiling yet. Yes, his shooting has gone down and his finishing % near the rim sucks, but he can get better. I wouldn't write him off just yet.

not wanting to pay Monroe is different from they can't, he regressed last year.

If he is back to his normal efficiency this year, Detroit will either keep him or get a way bigger return than Otto Porter.

Pistons have pretty much decided that Drummond is getting the 5 year deal (no argument from me). The decision they made was between him and Monroe.

Speaking of the Wizards, they are in GREAT shape financially going forward...this was a write up from August about their 2014 prospects. Granted, there have been some changes, but still....you gotta x your fingers that the FO does the right thing and they don't wind up wasting $ on guys like Ben Gordon or Charlie V.

the Drummond extension is 3 years away.

You can always sign Monroe and trade him later, my point is you don't have to do a low ball Otto Porter offer.

But they had to make a decision between him and Drummond b/c Monroe's rookie year deal is up at the end of the season. Monroe probably feels like he should get the 5 year deal. Pistons don't want to do that and will most likely give it to Drummond. That extra year is a difference of what? 13/15 mil or so?

What the pistons could do, is trade Monroe to a team that could give him the 5 year deal.

He becomes restricted free agent right, if they are so worried that the market for him will drive it up to max 5 year deal that they would have to match, then they have to believe they can get more for him than Otto "The chances i'm better than Tayshaun Prince are slim" Porter.

I really don't belive there is an appetite in the market to give Monroe the 5 year deal, not the way he regressed last year.

ultimately if he could really be had for porter, then the pistons would think they could sign him for less than max.

How many more years does Nene have left on that deal?

Do you think OKC would take a chance gambling with him for Perkins, Torontos 1st, and one of their young guys?

if your in the NT's Finest league i sent email's out tuesday the draft is tomorrow @ 8pm chi-time ... delta just reminded me about it

Send Monroe to Portland for Nic Batum

I see how that makes sense for Detroit, but not really for Portland. With the other pieces they have, I think the Blazers need what Batum brings to the table (great perimeter D, scoring) more than they need another big. Plus, I think Portland has been pretty firm in saying they're not trading Nic. I think they'd trade Aldridge before they'd get let Batum go, unless it was an offer that they absolutely couldn't refuse. I don't think Greg Monroe qualifies.

We got 3 more seasons of Nene in DC :x 2015-16, is his last year.

Goddamn that has been about the only gripe i've had with that roster over the past two years....... Nene when healthy is Great but that contract is gonna be hard to move especially for a player who is often injured.

That's why i was thinking a team that needs that other piece (Thunder, Spurs, Gs) might make a jump at it him as long as they don't have to give up big pieces in return. He makes about 11 million a year for the next 3, Perk makes about 7.5 for another two.... if i'm them and all i have to do is give up perk and that raptors pick (expected to be low lottery) then i'm doing it in a heartbeat. If nene is healthy he adds a whole other dimension to that squad.

so kd,beard & dwight in houston & russy,k love , declining , wont retire, still wont pass kobe in la
