So basically, the Cavs have to trade him by January 7th because they don't want to guarantee him his contract. Which they won't be able to do.

Which inevitably will lead to them releasing him by January 7th because of that guaranteed contract situation.

Which will lead to him being a free agent, being able to sign anywhere that he wants, I.E. The Clips or Heat.

Am i doing this right?
Or they can keep him, guaranteeing the rest of the $12M he's slotted to make this season and then trade him during the summer (non-guaranteed).

he's not what he used to be so it doesn't really matter where he ends up. it would be the clipper thing to do if he goes there tho :rolleyes.

It is realistic at this point to believe Bynum has played his last game for the Cavaliers.

Bynum has talked about retirement and how he has lost the joy to play basketball since the start of the season, now there are those in the organization questioning whether or not he wants to play anymore.

“It’s just a terrible situation internally with our team,” Kyrie Irving said. “It’s just something we have to get over.”

Bynum was always viewed as a bit of a loner within the Cavs’ locker room. He kept to himself, typically spent pregames with his headphones on and rarely interacted with teammates. Players said Saturday that Bynum had been even more withdrawn in recent weeks and weren’t surprised with the decision.

Bynum’s attitude has eroded in recent weeks, sources said, and the Cavs didn’t want it infiltrating the rest of the team if he wasn’t fully committed mentally. They knew there was risk involved when they signed him – the Cavs were the only team to offer him the chance at a hefty salary – and now they’re moving on without him.

I certainly can't get down with the attitude issues.

Explains the Cavs struggles partially. Drew's antics. Kyrie and Waiters allegedly going at each other behind closed doors.

as long as he is getting paid, bynum dgaf. he never really showed passion for the gm from what i always read

Heat aint signing him

you're crazy to think that if the heat could sign bynum with little risk, they wouldn't do it. they signed oden, didn't they?

Imagine if the Heat or Clippers let Bynum play every other game to deal with any discomfort? For the Heat they can just alternate Oden and Bynum during a playoff series with Indiana... you play game one, he plays game two and so forth

Bynum's contract can be considered an expiring this season... plenty of teams would be all over that

Heat probably land him if he gets waived, clears waivers and they can get him at the minimum
